Our time will be spent both building, and composing for the instruments we create. Students will learn the fundamentals of playing their instrument as well as their musical roles in the band. This class will culminate in a concert at the end of the term. Ravinia Orchestra Lessons - Percussion (Elementary & Junior High) Ravinia, the internationally renowned music festival has developed a program for young people to play in an orchestral setting. The Sistema model created by Antonio Abreuve in Venezuela has fostered the talents of children who may never have had this opportunity; providing free music lessons, an environment to work collaboratively, and to nurture the group dynamic through music. Students will participate in both drills and competitive games. The afterschool activity focuses on executive functioning, self-determination, and independent skills. There is an emphasis on teaching a variety of hobbies and activities. Students are taught how to select, plan and carry out their work. An example of a research project is a student planned puppet activity: making puppets, puppet show, and the presentation. September 11 January 15 3:30 4:30 $180 Baseball Clinic (Elementary and JH) This 8-week baseball clinic features fun drills for learning the baseball fundamentals of throwing, fielding & hitting. Towards the end of the clinic we will play a simulated baseball game so the kids can show off the skills they ve been working on.
