Homework Club (All Grades) Students receive a snack from the Cove School Store and then are given support to complete their homework assignments. September 17 January 14 3:00 3:30 $90 September 17 January 14 3:30 4:00 $90 Building and Playing Instruments (Elementary & Junior High) We will explore the different families of instruments by making them out of whatever we can find. Our time will be spent both building, and composing for the instruments we create. The semester will culminate in an audio recording of composers September 17 January 14 3:00 3:30 $90 Cove School of Rock (High School) We will continue a 5-piece rock band with guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. Students will learn the fundamentals of playing their instrument as well as their musical roles in the band. This class will culminate in a concert at the end of the term. High School September 17 January 14 3:30 4:30 $180 Choir (All Grades) Enhance your child s music education. Students will learn about being part of a larger ensemble, setting goals, achieving those goals, and developing a sense of self-esteem, all while pursuing musical excellence. Ravinia Orchestra Lessons - Percussion (Elementary & Junior High) Ravinia, the internationally renowned music festival has developed a program for young people to play in an orchestral setting. The Sistema model created by Antonio Abreuve in Venezuela has fostered the talents of children who may never have had this opportunity; providing free music lessons, an environment to work collaboratively, and to nurture the group dynamic through music. Please contact Dr. Dorothy-Jean Lloyd if you are interested in signing up. Starting mid October 3:00 4:30 No Charge Elementary Basketball The Elementary basketball program combines the opportunity for physical activity with developing basketball skills and learning the rules of the game. Students will participate in both drills and competitive games. Sportsmanship and teamwork will be emphasized October 29 March 11 3:00 4:30 $180 SAT Prep Course (Sophmores and Juniors) These sessions will help students gain familiarity with the SAT test format, test-taking strategies, as well as review reading, writing, and math content. September 11 January 15 3:00 3:30 $90 September 11 January 15 3:30 4:00 $90 Crafts: Independent Project Design (All Grades) Students of all ages are welcome to learn how to create and execute their own art and craft projects. The afterschool activity focuses on executive functioning, self-determination, and independent skills. There is an emphasis on teaching a variety of hobbies and activities. Students are taught how to select, plan and carry out their work. An example of a research project is a student planned puppet activity: making puppets, puppet show, and the presentation. Elementary and JH students must sign up for Homework Club from 3-3:30 if taking this class. September 11 January 15 3:30 4:30 $180 Baseball Clinic (Elementary and JH) This 8-week baseball clinic features fun drills for learning the baseball fundamentals of throwing, fielding & hitting. The weekly clinics will be designed to include creative activities which will teach sportsmanship and teamwork while having fun learning all aspects of the game. Towards the end of the clinic we will play a simulated baseball game so the kids can show off the skills they ve been working on. September 11 October 23 3:00-4:30 $90 ATMakers Club (High School) This club will meet each week to learn how to do some basic electronics work (like soldering, adapting, etc...) to make things for kids with physical disabilities. Kids will have a chance to use the 3D printer and other tools to adapt toys and activities. September 11 October 23 3:30 4:30 $90

Tabletop Gaming Club (High School) Come join us to learn some new and interesting games. Math, science, history are all more fun when you're playing a game. Come join us for some cooperative and some competitive games! October 30 January 15 3:30 4:30 $90 Laughter Yoga (Elementary and Junior High) De-Stress from your school day s assignments and tests with laughter yoga. Great for mental and physical well being, this enjoyable, interactive class includes laughter and relaxation exercises, gentile breathing techniques, dancing and singing. No special clothing or equipment required. Come prepared to have a fun time with your friends. Leave feeling relaxed, energized and happy! This activity must have a minimum of 5 participants to be offered. Are you ready to create your own newscast or bring a story to life? Maybe you are just curious and willing to learn what it takes to produce a video. Join the Cougar Broadcasters Club and learn to set up scenes, camera shots and lighting. Then we will edit and produce the video. While basic concepts and game rules are addressed, the program is also designed to enable each student to enjoy social experiences, to work cooperatively with others and to teach courtesy, fair play and good sportsmanship. We have one troop where each age level will cooperate together while also focusing on age appropriate activities. Separate registration with the Girl Scout council is required. (Cost $15) Elementary and JH students must sign up for Homework Club from 3-3:30 if taking this class. September 12 January 16 3:30 4:30 $180 Robotics (JR and HS) Do you enjoy putting things together and taking things apart? The Robotics Club will teach students the fundamentals of robotic design and programming. Students in this class will have the chance to be a part of The Cove School Robotics Team as the students work as a team to solve complex challenges.
