We are looking forward to another awesome event which is made possible by the efforts of our school families. The Sign-Up Genius has been created (see link below) so that families can sign up to volunteers for shifts. Link to Sign-Up Genius: You can still sign up to be a sponsor for the Fall Festival! You will not have your business name printed on the t-shirt, but you can still be represented at the Fall Festival. You can add inserts for our goodie bags, will have your name printed in the festival program and in the sponsor area at the festival, and more depending on the level of your sponsorship. In-kind sponsorships are also accepted. Please contact the school office for more information Connect with us on Facebook! One of the many blessings at St. Mary's is the community. One of the easiest ways to get to know families (new and old) is by getting involved and volunteering. A Facebook group has been created to share events and opportunities to do just that. Stop by and join the fun! Group name: SMS Events/Fundraising. If you have any ideas for the festival, want to get involved with planning, or have issues with the sign-up sheet please contact Holly Apgar at or hverderame@gmail.com. Music Corner New This Year!

The philosophy of CYS integrates good sportsmanship, technique, and skills into each sport offered. The goal is for coaches, students and parents to all be on the same page. The ideal is for both parents or guardians to attend a training, if possible, but at least one parent or guardian must attend a session. Trainings are being offered at the locations listed below, and you may attend any session. 9/22 St. Teresa s (Titusville) 6:30pm 9/26 Holy Name of Jesus (Indialantic) 10am (Saturday) You can register for any of the above workshops or find other workshops at other Catholic Schools on the CYS website. Follow the steps below to register: STEP 1) Go to STEP 2) Press the "Register Now" button STEP 3) Choose "Parent/Coach Education" STEP 4) Scroll down to find another training in Brevard County Orlando Magic Basketball Brevard CYS Night Out! We have secured the date for our Brevard Catholic Youth Sports Night Out with the Orlando Magic. The date is Saturday November 21st. It is a 5:00pm game so it is not a late ride home. I have reserved a pre- game high five tunnel for 20 kids. I will take 20 kids comprised from all participating schools down to the court before the game. There will be location and meeting time instructions to follow. This is an opportunity to come together as a community and have a great night out. A portion of every ticket sold will be donated back to your schools Athletics program. The more tickets you sell, the more you get back. As soon as I receive the order form I will forward it to each of you. Ticket prices will be $23 for upper bowl and $38 for lower bowl seating. Start getting the word out. Have a great holiday weekend. Dave Parker CYS Deputy Commissioner of Athletics for Brevard County. Interested in coaching a team at SMS? Anyone interested in coaching must be FBI fingerprinted through the Diocese of Orlando at Ascension Catholic School in Melbourne. The cost is $50-$60, but your fingerprints are good for five years once you are cleared. No one can coach or be on the field with children until
5 their fingerprints have fully cleared and they have viewed the Safe Environment Video online. Please see the St. Mary s School office for complete information. Coaches must also view the online Concussion Training Video (30 minutes) and print out a certificate that will be brought to the school office and kept on file. Parent Concussion and Heat Related Illness Forms As of July, 2012, all parents and athletes must sign forms stating that they understand the risks of concussion and heat related illnesses during sports events. The forms need to be on file in the school office before the athlete will be permitted to play. Easy Ways to support St. Mary s School! Shoparoo: Thank you to all who are participating in the Shoparoo program that benefits St. Mary s School. We received a check for $219.28! If you want to participate in this easy way to earn funds for the school, please contact the front office for details. Target Red Card for Education: It is as easy as shopping at Target! Sign up to use your REDcard and designate St. Mary s School to support through the Target Take Charge of Education program. Enroll at Target.com/TCOE or call Boxtops for Education and Labels for Education: Please remember to save your Boxtops for Education and Labels for Education and turn them into the school office. We are blessed to have your children here at St. Mary s School, and we look forward to a wonderful year with them. Have a great weekend!
Change in lunch item for Monday, October 19 Lunch on Monday will be Shepherd s Pie, NOT Chicken Pot Pie as listed on the menu.
