The Sign-Up Genius has been created (see link below) so that families can sign up to volunteers for shifts. Link to Sign-Up Genius: Connect with us on Facebook! One of the many blessings at St. Mary's is the community. One of the easiest ways to get to know families (new and old) is by getting involved and volunteering. A Facebook group has been created to share events and opportunities to do just that. Stop by and join the fun! Group name: SMS Events/Fundraising.

4 Music Corner The Elementary Choir will sing on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at 10:00am Mass. Come to mass and enjoy our singing angels. You will be glad that you did! Sports Corner Go Cougars! Girls will be selected for either Varsity or Junior Varsity Teams after this tryout, so please come if you are interested in joining a team. Thank you to Mr. McClatchey (girls varsity) and Mr. Schrumpf (boys varsity) for volunteering to coach! We will need a coach for girls junior varsity and possible a boys junior varsity depending on how many students were here for tryouts. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Coach Olson There will be two Volleyball clinics for both boys and girls at St. Teresa s Catholic School on Friday, October 23 and Friday, October 30 from 5:30-7:30pm. Volleyball players are encouraged to attend one of the clinics (not both). Our Middle School Halloween Dance is on October 30, so our players may want to attend the October 23 clinic.

5 Elementary Flag Football Info At this time, we have flag football coaches for grades 3, 4, and 5. We have to declare teams by October 23, so parents need to go online at docys.org and register for flag football. If your child played soccer, then they will use the soccer shirt for flag football. If your child does not have a shirt, you will need to put your shirt size online when you register. The cost for the sport is $60, and parents will pay online when they register. Parent Like A Champion Training All parents are required to attend a one-hour Parent Like A Champion training in order for their child to play any sport through Catholic Youth Sports. You can register for any workshop at other Catholic Schools on the CYS website. Follow the steps below to register: STEP 1) Go to STEP 2) Press the "Register Now" button STEP 3) Choose "Parent/Coach Education" STEP 4) Scroll down to find another training in Brevard County Interested in coaching a team at SMS? Anyone interested in coaching must be FBI fingerprinted through the Diocese of Orlando at Ascension Catholic School in Melbourne. The cost is $50-$60, but your fingerprints are good for five years once you are cleared. No one can coach or be on the field with children until their fingerprints have fully cleared and they have viewed the Safe Environment Video online. Please see the St. Mary s School office for complete information. Coaches must also view the online Concussion Training Video (30 minutes) and print out a certificate that will be brought to the school office and kept on file. Parent Concussion and Heat Related Illness Forms As of July, 2012, all parents and athletes must sign forms stating that they understand the risks of concussion and heat related illnesses during sports events. The forms need to be on file in the school office before the athlete will be permitted to play. Restaurant of the Month

6 The Restaurant of the Month for October is Malibu s located on Barton Blvd. in Rockledge. Eat at Malibu s, send your receipts into the school office, and we will receive 10% of your bill. What a delicious way to support SMS! Have a great weekend!
