The contest at Brighthouse Networks Stadium will kick off at 12:05 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox Sports Network. UAB will go into Saturday s game at UCF coming off a 46-9 loss to Memphis last weekend. The Blazers, who had entered the game vs. the Tigers with back-to-back wins over Southern Miss and Marshall, were held to only 213 yards on offense, including just 26 rushing yards. UAB will be finishing its regular season schedule against UCF for the fifth time. The Blazers also played the Knights in the season finale in 2009, 2008, 2006 and 2005. The last time UAB finished against the Knights in Orlando (2008) resulted in a 15-0 Blazer victory as K Swayze Waters booted five field goals in the win. Running back Darrin Reaves, who was held to 34 yards Saturday vs. Memphis after averaging 191 yards in the previous three games, now has 966 yards this season and needs 34 to become the fourth player in UAB history to reach 1,000 rushing yards for a season. SERIES HISTORY UAB and UCF will be meeting for the 10th time this Saturday and for the eighth occasion since the Knights joined Conference USA. UCF holds a 7-2 lead in the series after the Blazers 26-24 win last season in Birmingham. UAB won in Orlando (15-0) in 2008 in the last matchup there that concluded a season. UCF: George O Leary (New Hampshire, 69) is in his ninth season as head coach at UCF. O Leary has guided the Knights to three Conference USA championships and bowl appearances on four occasions. O Leary was an assistant on the staff for the Minnesota Vikings prior to becoming the UCF head coach. He was the head coach at Georgia Tech from 1994-01. QUICK HITS UAB returned seven starters on offense and four on defense from last season. After a bye week on Sept. 8, UAB is in the midst of playing on 11 consecutive Saturdays. The Blazers had 19 players make their collegiate debut in UAB s 2012 season opener versus Troy. WR Jackie Williams has at least one reception in every game (34) he has played at UAB. Please note that there are only two correct versions of our name, the acronym UAB, or the full University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition, the Associated Press sports stylebook now uses UAB on first reference, not Alabama-Birmingham. We are not: Alabama-Birmingham, Ala.-Birmingham, or U.A.B. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has been an autonomous member of the University of Alabama system since 1969, and has had an intercollegiate athletic program since 1977. UAB is sometimes confused with the University of Alabama (Crimson Tide), which is located in Tuscaloosa; while this is inevitable, it is important to note that the two are indeed separate institutions. In addition, the UAB name is often altered by various media, opponents, merchandisers, etc. Credentials Media desiring to obtain credentials to 2012 UAB home football games should direct their requests in writing to: Norm Reilly, Associate AD for Media Relations Email: nreilly@uab.edu Fax: 205-934-7505 Credentials are limited to members of the working media who are assigned to cover UAB football. Every effort will be made to fulfill each request. UAB GAME WEEK SCHEDULE MEDIA SERVICES Sunday: The team generally has meetings and a short workout in the late afternoon/early evening. Saturday: Coach McGee will address the media approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of the game; the UAB locker room and training room are closed to the media at all times; requested players will be made available following the game, time permitting. Interviews: Contact Associate AD for Media Relations Norm Reilly (205-934-0722) or another member of the media relations staff to request coach or player interviews. The best time for interviews with the head coach is Monday at the weekly media luncheon. Media are asked to notify the media relations staff at least 24 hours in advance of their plans to attend practice and of specific interview requests. GAME 12 UCF GAME NOTES 3 HEAD COACH GARRICK MCGEE Garrick McGee was named the head football coach at UAB on Dec. 4, 2011 after serving on the staff at the University of Arkansas for four years, including the past two seasons as the Razorbacks offensive coordinator. McGee, who was a finalist for the 2011 Broyles Award that is presented to the nation s top assistant coach, is the fourth head coach in UAB history. McGee, a former Oklahoma quarterback, was a leading force behind Arkansas becoming one of the country s most prolific offenses in recent years. In his first season as the offensive coordinator in 2010, the Razorbacks earned the school s first BCS appearance in program history as the season culminated at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. In 2011, Arkansas paced the Southeastern Conference in total offense and ranked No. 29 in the NCAA at 438.1 yards per game. The Razorbacks also ranked first in the SEC and 13th nationally in passing offense (300.7 ypg) and were first in the league and 15th in the country in scoring offense (36.7 ppg). The Arkansas offense escalated to an unprecedented level after McGee became the offensive coordinator in 2010. Arkansas had three offensive players selected in the 2011 NFL Draft. Quarterback Ryan Mallet was chosen by the New England Patriots, tight end D.J. Williams was taken by the Green Bay Packers and offensive tackle DeMarcus Love was picked by the Minnesota Vikings. Before joining the staff at Arkansas, McGee spent four seasons (2004-07) at Northwestern University, where he was the receivers and punt return coach his first two seasons and the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in 2006 and 2007. Directing the Wildcats spread offense, McGee s 2007 unit led the Big Ten and was No. 11 in the nation in passing (307.9 yards per game) and led the Big Ten and was No. 31 in the country in total offense (427.7 yards avg.). McGee was the receivers and kickoff return coach for head coach John Robinson at UNLV in 2003. In 2002, he was the receivers coach at Toledo, helping the Rockets earn a spot in the Motor City Bowl with a Mid- American Conference West Division title. A native of Tulsa, Okla., McGee began his coaching career at Langston (Okla.) University where from 1996-98 he coached defensive backs before moving to quarterbacks, receivers and special teams. He was the receivers and kickoff return coach at Northern Iowa in 1999, helping UNI set school records for total offense (5,253 yards) and passing yards (3,722). In 2001 and 2002, he was an offensive assistant and quality control coach with the NFL s Jacksonville Jaguars. McGee attended Booker T. Washington High in Tulsa and played for his father, the late Larry McGee. He played at Arizona State in 1991 and 1992, went to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in 1993 and transferred to Oklahoma. He played two years for the Sooners and ended his career fourth on OU s career passing list with 2,449 yards. He was named the Big Eight Newcomer of the Year by the league s coaches in 1994. McGee earned an associate s degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in 1993 and his bachelor s from OU in 1996. He and his wife, Tiffany, were married in the summer of 2009. They have two sons, Cameron, 2, and Grant, born in September of 2011. THIS WEEK S OPPONENT UCF is in its ninth season under head coach George O Leary. UCF has a plus-8 turnover margin to rank 21st in the nation and second in C-USA behind SMU. UCF is in search of its fourth Conference USA championship in the past eight years. QB Blake Bortles has connected on 63.7 percent of his passes this season, hitting 18 touchdown passes. UCF averages 34.7 points per game. LONG SETS UAB RECORD WITH 54-YARD FIELD GOAL Sophomore Ty Long set a UAB record for the longest field goal in school history when he connected from 54 yards out in the Blazers 29-15 loss at Ohio State Sept. 22. Long, who also had a 47-yarder in the game, broke the Blazer mark of 52 yards that Swayze Waters had established against Tulsa and Alcorn State in 2007, as well as Kevin Thomason vs. Mississippi Valley State in 1994. 22ND SEASON OF UAB FOOTBALL; 17TH AT I-A LEVEL UAB has a young football program compared to most of its opposition. The Blazers went through their first intercollegiate football season in 1991 as a member of NCAA Division III. The Blazers moved to Division I-AA two seasons later in 1993, remaining at that level three years before making the transition to Division I-A during 1996 season. The 2012 season represents the 22nd season of football for UAB. FIRST 2012 UAB TD WAS PERRY-TO-FRANKLIN PASS UAB registered its first touchdown of the 2012 season on a 21-yard pass play from QB Jonathan Perry to RB Greg Franklin. The score came with just :34 remaining in the first half against Troy. The touchdown for Franklin was his first via a pass. He scored a pair of rushing TDs in 2011. HUBBARD PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE USA UAB senior offensive tackle Chris Hubbard was named to the 2012 Coaches Preseason All-Conference USA team, the league office announced this summer. Hubbard, a 6-4, 285-pound senior from Columbus, Ga., is the lone senior and returning starter on the Blazers offensive line heading into the new season. A former C-USA All-Freshman Team selection, Hubbard has had an impact since his true freshman campaign and has played in 28 total games for UAB. He started all 12 contests last season for an O-line unit that was one of the Blazers biggest strengths. UAB OFFENSE CLICKED IN FINAL THREE GAMES OF 2011 UAB finished the 2011 season with wins in two of its final three games and nearly capped the campaign with a three-game win streak. Much of the reason for the Blazers strong finish was their offensive performance. UAB averaged 469 yards and 37 points in the last three games of the season against Memphis, Southern Miss and Florida Atlantic. UAB scored 14 offensive touchdowns in its final three games after scoring just 11 in the previous nine contests in 2011. Rush Pass Yards Points TDs TDs Memphis 601 41 1 4 Southern Miss 425 34 3 1 Florida Atlantic 382 35 3 2 3-Game Totals 1408 110 7 7 PERRY MADE FIRST START VS. TROY LAST SEASON QB Jonathan Perry made his first career start last season at Troy, a week after he saw what had been his most extensive action at East Carolina. Perry, who had not played for the Blazers until the 2011 season, saw action in all 12 games, but he saw considerable playing time in the fourth quarter at ECU after starting QB Bryan Ellis left the game due to an injury. Perry went on to complete 174-of-300 for 2,042 yards last season. He threw for 836 yards and seven touchdowns (one interception) in the final three games vs. Memphis, Southern Miss and Florida Atlantic as he completed 63-of-100 passes. He finished with 16-of-19 field goals and was perfect on three-pointers inside 42 yards in 2011. Long began the new season right where he left off and is 13-for-16 in 2012. His career FG accuracy percentage is 82.9 percent (29-for-35). IRVIN NO. 1 IN NCAA IN 2011 FUMBLE RECOVERIES Linebacker Greg Irvin recovered all four fumbles for UAB in the Blazers 2011 contest at East Carolina, breaking the previous individual school record of two in a single game. They were the first fumble recoveries of Irvin s career. Irvin finished the season with five recoveries and tied for the NCAA lead with Oregon State s Dylan Wynn. Teammate T.J. Ballou tied for fourth nationally with four fumble recoveries. WILLIAMS RECEPTION TOTAL AMONG TOP 5 IN SCHOOL HISTORY WR Jackie Williams registered 58 catches last season, the fourth-highest single-season mark in UAB history. Williams caught 58 passes for 607 yards in 2011. With 44 catches this season, he has increased his career reception total to 132 to rank No. 4 on the Blazer career charts. GAME 12 UCF GAME NOTES 5 BURDETTE TIED FOR NCAA LEAD IN TACKLES PER GAME UAB senior linebacker Marvin Burdette has been all over the field in recent games, recording tackle totals of 17, 17, 24, 11, 17 and 10 in consecutive contests vs. Houston, East Carolina, Tulane, Southern Miss, Marshall and Memphis. His average of 12.90 tackles per game is second in the country listed in this week s NCAA statistics. His 24 total at Tulane last month set a Blazer school record and is the second-highest total in Conference USA history. That count is also the second-highest in the NCAA this season. It also marked the second career 20-tackle performance for Burdette. UAB PUNTER HUNTER MULLINS NAMED TO WATCH LIST FOR 2012 RAY GUY AWARD UAB sophomore punter Hunter Mullins was named as one of 69 candidates nationally last month to the Watch List for the 2012 Ray Guy Award, an honor that goes to the nation s top collegiate punter. The award is presented by the Augusta Sports Council. Ten semifinalists for the award were named on November 9 with three finalists to be announced on November 19. Mullins, in his first season as the Blazers starting punter, is currently averaging 45.13 yards per kick. He ranks ninth in the country in average and is ranked No. 2 in Conference USA. BROWN PASSES FOR CAREER-BEST 409 VS. TULANE Redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Brown passed for a career-best 409 yards in UAB s loss at Tulane Oct. 27. Brown has passed for 300-plus yards in four of the six games he has started at UAB (Tulsa, Houston, East Carolina and Tulane). The only games he fell shy of 300 was vs. Southeastern Louisiana when he had 266 yards before leaving the game early with a minor ankle injury and the last two Saturdays vs. Southern Miss and Marshall. Brown is averaging 294 yards per game in his six starts. His season average is only 228 per game due to him sharing playing time with Jonathan Perry in the first three games. Otherwise, his 294 yards per game would rank No. 18 in the NCAA if that was his season average. REAVES ON QUITE A TEAR FOR THE BLAZERS Sophomore running back Darrin Reaves has been on quite a tear running the football. In the past four games, Reaves has 611 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Reaves, whose father (Darrin Sr.) played on UAB s first football team in 1991 (also as a running back), rushed for 223 yards on 35 carries and ran for two touchdowns vs. Southern Miss on Nov. 3. Reaves is UAB s leading rusher with 966 yards, averaging 4.9 per carry. His 13 rushing TDs are No. 1 in C-USA and a UAB season record. BLAZERS SURPASS OFFENSIVE TD TOTAL OF 2011 UAB recorded 26 offensive touchdowns in 2011. Through 11 games in 2012, the Blazers already have 37 offensive touchdowns this season. Darrin Reaves leads the Blazers in touchdowns with 13. That number is a UAB record for rushing TDs in a season previously held by quarterback Joe Webb who also had 11 in both 2008 and 2009. BROWN HAS HIT THE LONG BALL An interesting note on quarterback Austin Brown is that in six of his seven starts to date, the redshirt freshman has had at least one completion for more than 40 yards. His season-long pass completion was a 75-yarder against Tulsa. He had a 32 and 30-yard completion vs. Marshall on 11/10. BROWN ECLIPSES 2,000 PASSING YARDS FOR 2012 Despite splitting time with Jonathan Perry the first three games and not starting until the fourth game of the season, quarterback Austin Brown already has amassed the sixth highest passing yardage total in a season in UAB history. Brown has 2,470 yards on the season and just became one of nine Blazer signal-callers in school history to reach 2,000 passing yards in a season. WILLIAMS TALLIES RECEIVING TD VS. TULANE Junior wide receiver Jackie Williams is leading the Blazers in receiving for the second season in a row. He has 44 catches thus far for 744 yards. However, when Williams caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Austin Brown three weeks ago vs. Tulane, the occasion marked Williams first receiving score since Nov. 27, 2010, when then QB Bryan Ellis hit Williams for a 23-yard score at Rice. WR ADAMS HAD BACK-TO-BACK 100-YARD GAMES Wide receiver Nick Adams recorded 100-yard receiving games in recent back-to-back games after not registering one previously during his UAB career. Adams had 114 receiving yards against East Carolina, including a career-long 66-yard reception. Last month vs. Tulane, he followed up the performance vs. the Pirates with 119 receiving yards. For the season, Adams has a career-high 42 receptions (No. 2 on the team) for 624 yards and two touchdowns. JOHNSON REGISTERS SECOND PICK OF SEASON Safety Lamar Johnson, making his first start of the 2012 season, notched his second interception of the campaign Oct. 27 vs. Tulane. Johnson also had an interception against Tulsa on Sept. 29. Johnson leads the team in interceptions. BLAZERS MOST POINTS HAVE COME IN FOURTH QUARTER UAB s most productive quarter has been the fourth this season. The Blazers have scored 104 points in the final period through nine games, an average of 9.5 points per game. MULLINS HAS BEEN STRONG AS UAB PUNTER UAB s Hunter Mullins, named last month to the Watch List for the 2012 Ray Guy Award, is ranked No. 9 in the country this week in punting average at 45.13 yards per kick. For the season, Mullins has 13 punts inside the 20 and has 12 kicks of 50 yards or more. OFFENSIVE TOTAL VS. TULANE 3RD BEST AT UAB UAB collected 622 yards of total offense in the Oct. 27 game against Tulane, tying for the third highest output in program history. The Blazers totaled 622 yard of offense vs. Florida Atlantic in 2009. The last time UAB eclipsed 600 yards of total offense was vs. Memphis (601) on Nov. 12, 2011. HEARN ECLIPSES 100 CATCHES FOR CAREER UAB senior wide receiver has 102 career receptions at UAB, the sixthhighest total in Blazer history. He caught four passes Saturday vs. Memphis and joined five other UAB players (four former Blazers, plus Jackie Williams) as UAB receivers to register 100 or more catches in their career.

GAME 12 UCF GAME NOTES 6 LONG NAMED TO GROZA AWARD WATCH LIST UAB sophomore kicker Ty Long was one of 30 players nationally named this summer to the Watch List for the 2012 Lou Groza College Placekicker Award, presented by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. Long, from Roswell, Ga., connected on 16-of-19 field goals as a true freshman in 2011, including a pair of game-winning field goals (UCF and Southern Miss). He was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team and was also tabbed a third-team Freshman All-American by Phil Steele s College Football Preview. Long ranked No. 2 last year among C-USA kickers in FG percentage at 84.2 and was third in field goals made per game (1.33). In addition, he ranked second nationally among freshman in field goals made per game and was third among NCAA freshmen in FG percentage. His 72 points scored ranked third in the country among freshman kickers overall and was the second-highest mark among true freshmen. His 16 field goals were the most of any true freshman kicker in the country in 2011. BURDETTE BECOMES ALL-TIME UAB TACKLER Linebacker Marvin Burdette became the UAB career tackles leader last Saturday with his 17-stop effort vs. Marshall. He now has 142 tackles in 2012 after posting 92 as a junior in 2011. Burdette has 391 tackles in his career to establish a new UAB career record. Burdette registered 17 tackles in back-to-back games vs. Houston and East Carolina before his 24 at Tulane three weeks ago. Burdette also recorded 13 tackles against Tulsa Sept. 29. Jackie Williams (157 yards) and Patrick Hearn (108 yards) became the first UAB receiving duo to register more than 100 yards in the same game since the 2006 contest at Rice (34-33 loss) a span of 63 games. In that contest, Willie Edwards had four catches for 112 yards while Stephen Brown had four receptions for 102 yards. NELSON HAD BREAKOUT GAME VS. TULSA IN 2011 Blazer wide receiver Jamarcus Nelson had a breakout game against Tulsa in UAB s contest against the Golden Hurricane in 2011. Nelson caught just

GAME 12 UCF GAME NOTES 8 two passes in the game, but both of them went for long touchdowns. Nelton caught a 66-yarder from QB Bryan Ellis with 1:13 left in the opening quarter and followed that up with a 45-yard touchdown reception soon after at the 14:02 mark of the second quarter. Nelson finished the game with 111 receiving yards on his two catches. NELSON CONTINUES SUCCESS VS. TULSA Jamarcus Nelson continued his big-play success against Tulsa when UAB took on the Golden Hurricane on Sept. 29 at Legion Field. Nelson had four catches in the game for 146 yards and registered a pair of touchdowns. Nelson s two touchdown receptions went for 75 yards (on first play from scrimmage in the game) and 50 yards from quarterback Austin Brown. Nelson now has eight career touchdown catches and four of them have come against Tulsa, covering distances of 66, 45, 75 and 50 yards. BLAZERS SUCCESSFUL ON THREE ONSIDE KICKS THIS SEASON For the third time this season, the Blazers were successful on an onsides kick attempt when they pulled off the feat Oct. 27 at Tulane. They also recovered an onside kick to begin the second half in the Sept. 22 game vs. Ohio State. It also occurred in the season opener vs. Troy (Sept. 1). FRESHMAN STARTS FOR BLAZERS UAB has had nine different freshmen make a total of 47 starts for the Blazers through the first 11 games this season. The Blazers true freshman Jake Ganus has started 10-of-11 games at safety while redshirt freshman Lamarcus Farmer has started nine games and true frosh Kelton Brackett has made three starts for UAB. Against Tulsa, UAB had four more freshmen make first-time starts. Cameron Blankenship started on the offensive line while Austin Brown was the starting quarterback. On defense, Chris Rabb started at defensive end and Derek Slaughter started at linebacker. LONG PERFECT AT UAB FROM 40 YARDS AND IN UAB sophomore kicker Ty Long is now 29-of-35 (13-of-16 in 2012) on field goals during his two-year career with the Blazers. That s an accuracy rate of 82.9 percent. The UAB career record for field goal accuracy is 78.1 percent by Swayze Waters, who hit 50-of-64 three-pointers from 2006-08. The product of nearby Chelsea, Ala. has started 10-of-11 games thus far for UAB and is fourth on the team in tackles with 59 stops. In addition, the former high school quarterback registered an interception against South Carolina. TWELVE DIFFERENT PLAYERS HAVE MADE CATCHES The Blazers have had 12 different players register at least one reception through the first eight games of the 2012 season. Jackie Williams leads the way with 44 catches while Nick Adams has 42 grabs thus far for UAB. BROWN MADE FIRST CAREER START VS. TULSA After playing only sparingly in the first two games of the season, redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Brown has handled the bulk of signal-calling duties for the Blazers since the first quarter of the Ohio State game. He saw three periods of action against Ohio State on Sept. 22, finishing with 196 passing yards as he hit 21-of-35. Brown is averaging 294 passing yards per game in his seven starts. Ty Long kicked a 40-yard field goal with 21 seconds left to give UAB its first victory of the season, 26-24, over UCF. The Blazers converted two thirdand-longs after taking over at their own 16 with 4:57 left to set up the game-winner. The Knights got the ball across midfield with 14 seconds remaining on a kick return by Rannell Hall. Backup quarterback Blake Bortles threw an incomplete pass and then had a last-play heave intercepted by Chase Daniel at the goal line. Bortles had led two fourth-quarter scoring drives after relieving Jeff Godfrey to rally the Knights from a 23-14 deficit, but couldn t keep UCF from losing for the fourth time in five games. Troy s Shawn Southward ran for a career-high 204 yards and three touchdowns. Troy s win spoiled the UAB head coaching debut for Garrick McGee. The late UAB turnovers were pivotal as both led to Troy touchdowns. The Trojans turned a 25-23 advantage into a 39-23 margin in a span of 24 seconds. Clinging to a two-point lead, Troy s De Von Terry intercepted a Perry pass and the Trojans capped it off with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Corey Robinson to B.J. Chitty with 6:53 left in the game. The Blazers trailed 17-0 early in the second quarter but rallied with a late first half touchdown and a score shortly after the third quarter began. GAME STATISTICS Perry connected with junior running back Greg Franklin on a 21-yard touchdown pass with :34 remaining before halftime. Then after UAB successfully converted an onsides kick attempt, the Blazers cut the Troy margin to 17-14 with senior Dontavius Jackson finishing off a five-play, 45-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown run at the 13:31 mark of the third quarter. Robinson hit 12-of-21 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans. Chip Reeves had six catches for a career-high 125 yards and a 55- yard touchdown reception. UAB had a pair of receivers with more than 100 yards as Jackie Williams caught six balls for 157 yards while Patrick Hearn had seven catches for 108 yards. Williams six catches increased his career total to 94 and moved him to No. 5 on the Blazers all-time reception list. His 157 receiving yards established a career high for the Prichard, Ala. native. Connor Shaw went 8 of 14 for 107 yards before reinjuring his throwing shoulder. UAB s Jonathan Perry completed 17 of 34 passes for 219 yards before he was pulled late in the third quarter. Austin Brown took over and completed all three of his passes for 21 yards. Jackie Williams caught five passes for 45 yards for the Blazers to increase his career total to 99 catches, while Patrick Hearn led all wide receivers with 66 receiving yards. The Blazers got off to a good start as Williams took the opening kickoff 53 yards to give his team good field position at the South Carolina 35 yard line. However, UAB had to settle for a Ty Long field goal to take a 3-0 lead - an advantage it held for most of the opening quarter. GAME STATISTICS That lead would vanish with the Blazers driving at the USC 25 yard line when a Perry fumble was returned 65 yards to paydirt by D.J. Swearinger, giving the Gamecocks a lead they would not surrender. Marcus Lattimore had 85 rushing yards on 12 carries. The junior s 2-yard TD run in the second quarter gave him the school record for TDs at 34. South Carolina backup quarterback Dylan Thompson took over after the Shaw injury, throwing a 94-yard touchdown pass to Damiere Byrd that put South Carolina up 35-6 midway through the third quarter. Shaq Roland caught his first TD pass of his career, a 30-yard throw from Thompson in the fourth quarter that put the Gamecocks ahead 42-6. UAB freshman safety Jake Ganus had his first career pick, and had another interception that was negated by a roughing the passer penalty. The Blazers, who held an early 9-0 advantage, started the second half by recovering an onside kick the second this season with the first coming against Troy but were undone by four chop-block penalties and a costly fumble with a minute left in the first half. After Adams returned the blocked punt for a touchdown - the first Blazer to do so since 2003 - UAB led Ohio State, 6-0, at the end of the first quarter. Long was responsible for the remainder of the Blazers points, hitting 3-of-4 field goals on the day. His career-long 54-yard kick late in the second quarter was the longest field GAME STATISTICS goal in UAB history. It was also the third-longest in Ohio Stadium history and the fifth-longest ever against the Buckeyes. Long made his first three field goals of the game before missing a 47-yarder midway through the fourth quarter. The miss snapped his consecutive successful field goal streak at 12, which dated back to last year. Redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Brown saw the most significant action of his young Blazer career after replacing starter Jonathan Perry. Brown finished the contest with 196 yards on 21-of-35 passing. Perry played only the first quarter, finishing with 63 passing yards as he hit 7-of-11 passes. He also had 26 rushing yards on five carries. Buckeye quarterback Braxton Miller ran for two touchdowns and Ohio State overcame a lethargic, mistake-filled effort to hold off UAB. Miller completed passes for 12, 14 and 18 yards and ran for 26 yards to set up his own clinching 1-yard TD run with 5:03 left.
