Route Description Check-in is from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The start is from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Route markings will be Blue. Picture Napa Valley s budding vineyards and hillsides in vernal bloom. Add the fragrance of roses and other spring flora and you have the backdrop for a delightful day of cycling for a great cause. Choose from four ride options 10, 25, 50 or 100 miles depending on your level of fitness and riding skill. The rolling grade of the Napa Valley floor makes our 10, 25 and 50 mile routes relatively easy. Our 100-mile route encounters elevation gain of a few hundred feet spread over several miles spanning the Napa/Sonoma county line before descending into the Alexander Valley and the same as you return to Calistoga. We provide full support to our riders along the way with support-and-gear and wellstocked and themed-for-fun rest stops. Back at the finish line, you will receive a hero(ine) s welcome after which you may enjoy lunch, a massage, live music, wine tasting and a silent auction. Experience with 2,400 fellow cyclists why our event is the nation s leading Tour de Cure! Have more fun by forming a team. A team is you as the captain and at least four of your friends, family or colleagues who want to make a difference for people with diabetes while enjoying a day of cycling and other fun in a gorgeous setting. Frequently Asked Questions This section will answer some of the most frequently asked questions. If you need additional information, please call Tom Hall at 888.342.2383, ext. 7460. Q? What is the terrain of the ride like? With the exception of our 100-mile route, our other rides are relatively flat with some rolling terrain, but no serious climbing. Q? How many route lengths are there? There are 4 routes from which to choose: 10 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles and 100 miles Q? Can friends and spouses participate in the festivities at the Finish Line? Friends and family members are welcome at the finish line to cheer you in! Lunch is provided for riders but it available for purchase for others as available. The cost is $10 per person. Q? Can I bring my own personal SAG? Personal SAGs are not permitted on the route. However, if your friend would like to drive a SAG available to all riders, please have them sign up as a volunteer at our new volunteer registration site on www.. Q? What if it rains? We ride rain or shine! Pack rain gear just in case and don t let cloudy skies stop you in the fight against diabetes! Q? When does the finish line and route close? The route and the finish line remain open until posted closing times. Please ensure you can ride at a speed to finish the longer routes in sufficient time to be back for the party! If it is taking longer for you to return, one of our SAG vehicles will bring you to the finish. Please be aware that a hot lunch will be served until 5:00 p.m.; after that a box lunch will be available for riders who arrive later. The course will close and the route will be swept at 5:00 p.m. Q? How many people form a team? An official team is five or more riders. This is a fun ride, so teams are not competing for time, but rather to share in the experience and help in the fight against diabetes. To thank you for encouraging friends, family and co-workers to participate, we have a variety of thank you gifts and incentives for the team captain, as well as each team member. Q? Can my child participate and ride with me? Yes, but you or an appointed guardian must remain with the minor rider at all times. The minor is also responsible for turning in the $200 minimum (regardless of age) and is also required to wear a helmet while riding. Training Resources

We recommend taking advantage of organized training rides. Don t forget to wear your helmet on all training rides! These rides are designed to cater to varying degrees of ability and are sure to help you prepare for the big day. Numerous training opportunities are available to you in your community through local clubs and some bicycle stores as well. Browsing online for terms such as Road One, cycling, Bay Area, will also yield many available resources. For novice bicycle riders, we especially recommend enrolling in a Road One training course to learn the basics of safe bicycle riding. This is particularly important for children as well as for adults who should know the ins and outs of safe maneuvering in an urban environment where we share the roadways with cars and pedestrians. The League of American Bicyclists sponsors frequent courses in many communities. To access a list of training opportunities nearby visit www.bikeleague.org and look for Bike Ed courses that meet your needs. Bike Rentals We have great partners that will rent bikes to your team members: -Napa Valley Bike Tours (800-707-BIKE) (www.napavalleybiketours.com) -Napa Valley Adventure Tours (877-54-tours) (www.napavalleyadventuretours.com) -Calistoga Bike Shop (866.942.BIKE) (http://calistogabikeshop.com) Napa Valley Bike Tours rental rates are $39 for hybrids, $55 for road bikes and $70 for tandems.
