We do not offer make up lessons, but do provide credits for missed lessons due to sickness. If you can provide a medical certificate within a month of the date on the certificate, we will credit up to two lessons per term. Children in Aquatot classes are not required to provide a medical certificate but the up to two credits per term rule still applies. Please advise the office ASAP if your child is unable to attend. If we have to cancel any lessons due to unforeseen circumstances a credit will be placed on your account. These credits will be put towards payment for the next term of lessons. No refunds will be issued. Do lessons follow the school terms? Yes, our swimming term follows the school calendar. In addition to the standard four terms, we offer intensive programmes during school holidays to help boost your child s swimming ability.
What experience and qualifications do the instructors have? All of our instructors receive extensive in-house practical and theory based training, as well as attending the national STA course (Swimming NZ Swim Teacher Award). This is a nationally recognised qualification which all instructors complete to ensure consistency within the swim school. Will my child have the same instructor each term? We cannot guarantee your child will have the same instructor each term. How do I go about re-booking term by term? We use a roll-over booking system, whereby your child is automatically rolled over into the same class as the previous term. What if my child progresses? you will be given a progress slip that you will take to the office where you will discuss your new level and time. **We endeavor to match your children s swim times but sometimes this is not possible. What if my child is not progressing? Depending on the individual child, it can take some time to master certain skills required to progress to the next level. If you are concerned about your child s progression please do not hesitate to speak with office staff. We will follow up on your concern and speak to the relevant instructor, doing our best to ensure your child continues to develop their swimming skills. We email out progress reports each term so you can track your child s progress. Payments All new clients are required to pay at the time of booking. An unstructured aqua sensory play and movement session for those aged 5-12 (and an adult caregiver) who has an impairment, whether physical, social, cognitive or medical. Come along and learn some swimming techniques under the guidance of one of our qualified instructors. A parent/caregiver must be in the water with each participant. Spaces are limited each week so to book a spot on a Friday email Swim.City@huttcity.govt.nz. Cost is $3.50 pool entry per session which covers the child and caregiver. Dolphin classes Dolphin classes are for those who may require a more flexible or adaptive programme but are still wanting swimming to be a social experience. These classes have 2 participants with similar swimming ability and learning styles to work towards improving swimming skills, addressing any barriers or working on specific skills they may find more challenging. Working on emotional and swimming adaptation and social integration through swimming and water safety Dolphin classes are a stepping stone for some to join our mainstream programme when they are ready.
