1 SUMMER NETBALL REGISTRATION TERM & Term In Terms 4 and 1, NETBALL will be offered as part of East Adelaide School s After School Sport Program. Netball Closing date for Netball Registrations is Friday 10th August 2018 Teams participate in the Eastern District Netball Association (EDNA), with matches played on Friday Evenings. Netball registration is based on date of birth, not year levels. Although we usually play years 2 & 3 in Netta Netball, 4 & 5 in Primary Netball and Years 6 & 7 in Sub-Junior Netball. Netball is suitable for both boys and girls. Boys are allowed to complete until the age of 12, however they are allowed to finish the season in which they started. The season commences on Friday 19 th October (Week 1, Term 4). Netta Netball Must be 9 years and under, with a minimum age of 8 (Born in 2008, 2009 or 2010). Games are played on Fridays at 5:45pm or 6:40pm. Primary Netball Must be 11 years and under, with a minimum age of 9 (Born in 2006, 2007 or 2008) Games are played on Fridays at 6:40pm, 7:30pm or 8:20pm. Sub Junior Netball Must be 13 years and under, with a minimum age of 10 (Born in 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007) Games are played on Fridays at 7:30pm, 8:20pm or 9:10pm. Game Locations The Netball games may be played at any of the following locations over the season: Lothian Avenue, Windsor Gardens Emery Road, Campbelltown Phillis Street, Maylands Netball re-grading occurs after the fifth week of games, this may alter the time and location that your child s team may play. Please be aware of this factor when registering your child. Current Year 7 students will need the Principal s Permission if they wish to continue playing for East Adelaide School in Term 1, Please speak to the Coordinator if this is the case for your child. Cost: Terms 4 and Term 1 Fees Netta & Primary (Years 2-5) $80 Sub-Junior (Years 6-7) $85 1
2 Registration Details Closing date for Netball Registrations is Friday 3rd August Registration and payment is required prior to the closing date to ensure your child s placement in a team. Players registering after the closing date will have their names placed on a waiting list and are not guaranteed a place. Team nominations are dependent upon the availability of coaches, parent volunteers and player numbers. Therefore, if there are insufficient registrations for any given sport, or if no one comes forward to coach, a team cannot be formed. In these circumstances, registration fees will be credited to the family s school account. Fees cover all costs associated with conducting the program at East Adelaide School. However, fees do not cover the loss or damage of any uniform or sporting equipment supplied by the school and parents will be invoiced for the replacement of these items. Registration fees are only refunded when there is not a place in a team for your child or for medical reasons once play commences. Refunds are not made should a parent / carer withdraw their child from the assigned team. Usually refunds are made in the form of a school credit. Parent / Carer Volunteers East Adelaide School greatly appreciates parents / carers who are able to volunteer time to support our After School Sport program. Each team requires a coach, a team manager, scorers to assist at practises and games. Please complete the Parent Volunteer Form if you are able to volunteer in any capacity. Without the assistance of volunteers, sporting teams cannot be formed. It is mandatory that all volunteers at East Adelaide School attend Volunteer Training. It is also recommended that volunteers complete their Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Clearance Checks. Forms are available in the Front Office and the cost for these is paid for by the school. Team Selection The process of allocating players to teams involves consultation between the After School Sports Coordinator, teachers and coaches. While parent preferences are taken into consideration, the complexities of forming teams and considering the needs of all players means that individual preferences sometimes are not met. Allocation to teams is based on - Age of player Experience in the chosen sport Nominated Friends (maximum of two) NB: Nominating friends does not guarantee placement in the same team. If your child is not placed with one of their nominated friends, however, you will be contacted by the After School Sports Coordinator to talk this through with you. The Coordinator has the final decision on team composition. Once player allocations are finalised, students will be notified of their sporting team. A note regarding coaches, team allocations, practice sessions and match times will be sent home as soon as this information is available. Uniforms Details regarding uniform will be provided once the Coordinator has notified children of their team placements. As a general guideline, EAS loans each registered player a netball top and parents are required to purchase a netball skirt and briefs. EDNA have a strict uniform 2
3 code, so please do not purchase any uniform items before your child receives their team placement information, as this will have specific details on your child s uniform requirements. Fee Payments and Uniforms Payment of sport registration fees and uniform purchases can be made via our QKR App. The Cashier/Uniform Shop in the School Foyer is available for payment of all sports fees and uniform purchases at the following times: Tuesday & Friday 8:30 9:15am Tuesday 3:15 3:45pm Payments and forms can also be left in the Payment Box anytime. It is located outside the Cashier/Uniform shop. However, all relevant forms must also be submitted to the Cashier/Uniform Shop for registration to be complete. Should you have difficulty paying the scheduled fees by the closing date, please discuss this with the Coordinator or the Business Manager. Team Trainings Times for team training cannot be confirmed until all teams are formed. Training details are included when players are notified of their team, coach, etc. Konnective App After School Sport updates are regularly send out on the school s Konnective App. Please ensure you download this application, so that you are aware of any upcoming events and changes to After School Sport. The school newsletter is another good source of information, so please ensure you read this to keep up to date with the latest news. Sport Trophies and Certificates In 2018/19, East Adelaide School is awarding individual trophies to students who participate in sports teams from Year 2 to Year 7. The cost of the trophies is included in the sport fee. Trophies will be presented at the relevant Sports Presentation Night. Invitations will be sent to individual students regarding this night.
