Be registered and play at Mid Hills Association through one of its affiliated Clubs for the winter season in which the player is nominating for selection (next winter season). Players must attend a minimum of two (2) trial sessions to be eligible for team selection. Selection of Players Trials shall be held to assist in the selection of players. Application forms for trials shall be available from the MHNA clubrooms or downloaded from the MHNA web site. It is the responsibility of players to obtain and complete the necessary application forms. The completed application form must be returned to MHNA by the closing date as set by the MHNA. Trials will commence on a date set by the MHNA and will be no fewer than two (2) and no more than four (4) individual dates. Players MUST attend on a minimum of 2 selection trial dates to be eligible for team selection. Ten (10) players will be selected for each team.
The selection of 2 teams (or squad of 20 players) in some Junior Divisions may be considered, but this can t always be assumed. This will depend on o the number of players nominating, o the standard of Netball skill required of these players, o the availability of coaches to coach them. We do not automatically have 2 teams, even with lots of nominations Some players will be listed as possible future reserves, but may NOT be notified at team trials. If injured or unwell and unable to trial, a doctors certificate may be required to be sited. The MHNA trial coordinators must be notified prior to commencement of trials. NO Club, Association, Regional or SAPSASA registered uniforms, jumpers or warmup tops will be allowed to be worn on the courts during trials. Players must attend trials in neutral clothes suitable for playing Netball./ Selected Players Players selected in the MHNA Representative Teams shall: Carry out all the training set by the Coach, Attend all training sessions arranged by the Coach Recognise that in extenuating circumstances the coach and manager may allow a player to miss a training session and the reasons for non attendance will be included In the Coaches/ Team Manager s report to MNHA. Pay fees as invoiced by the due date. Return in good order and condition and within the time allowed, the playing uniform and any property of the Association. Recognise the authority of the Team Manager in all matters not specifically allocated to the Coach, Be invited to undertake promotional work for the Association Be available to play in the MHNA Summer competition. A selected player may be subject to replacement should she; o fail to fulfill her obligations, or o become unfit for the contest The Coach shall report such player to the MHNA who shall meet to receive the report and to discuss any concerns with the Coach and player concerned. Should a replacement be deemed necessary, the replacement will be from the next in line of players who attended selection trials (which may be further dependant on the reserve player s nominated position and what position becomes vacant). If a player cannot play for the team they have been selected (due to resignation or any of the above criteria), the player cannot play for any other Mid Hills Representative Team during that season.
What it means to be in an Association Representative team By filling out a nomination form, you will be eligible to trial for a place in a Mid Hills Association Representative Netball Team. Rep Team players are selected from clubs across the association. These players will be ambassadors for both the Association and their individual Club and play netball at various carnivals under the Association banner and uniform. The players have a great opportunity to improve their netball skills, make new friends and have of lots fun during the year. They also gain confidence and experience playing against other teams from all over South Australia. Teams will be selected in age groups 11 & under, 13 & Under, 15 & Under and 17 & under., according to their age at 31 st December of the next Carnival Season. Before completing a form players should read the conditions of nomination. Conditions include but are not limited to Playing summer season with Association Rep team, Attending training sessions as required Attend nominated carnivals, including compulsory carnivals at Mid Hills (held in May for all age groups) and Country Championships (held on June Long weekend-for all age groups except 11 & Under) In past years we have been lucky enough to be able to select 2 teams in some Junior Divisions, but this can t always be assumed. This will depend on (a) the number of players nominating, (b) the standard of Netball skills required of these players, (c) the availability of coaches to coach them. We do not automatically have 2 teams, even if there are a lot of player nominations Commitment: Being in a Mid Hills Rep Team is a commitment to both the player and their parents. Players are required to play in the MHNA Summer competition. Carnivals Rep Teams generally attend 6 Carnivals throughout the winter season. (Strathalbyn, Elizabeth, Kadina, and Murray Bridge). Attendance at the following 2 carnivals is compulsory and players MUST be available to participate, the Mid Hills Carnival in May and the State Country Championships on the June long weekend. Most carnivals are programmed on a Sunday, starting around 9:00 am and finishing about 4:30 pm. Teams will play 4-6 games during the day, then finals. Games are generally 2 x 10 minute halves with approx. 30 minutes break between each game. Training - As well as your usual club practice, you will be required to attend the Rep Team training sessions. These are held on a Monday night for about 1½ hours. Training is held at the Mid Hills Woodside courts. Carnival training generally will commence after the summer netball season is finished. Failure to attend these practices (with no valid reason) may result in a player being withdrawn from the team. Some coaches may request attendance at a training session during the summer season if required. Financial Commitment The bodysuits are provided for the players at a minimal hire fee (approx.$33). Registration fees are approx. $50.00 per player (cost to be advised for next year). Summer registration fees cover umpire costs. The Uniform includes shorts, socks, jumper and warm-up top. These are partially subsidised by the Carnival
committee (through Dollar day and other fundraising). Uniform items not included but required are Black track suit pants and netball shoes. We have various fund raisers in the lead up and at our Mid Hills Carnival for example a trading table and raffle. Dollar day is the major fundraiser to support the Rep teams and parents will be expected to help with these, by collecting at the gates during their rostered time. (approx an hour). We hope this brief summary helps you understand the expectations and commitment of players and parents in the Representative teams and we look forward to your support and contribution.
Player Responsibilities 1. Attend all carnivals as nominated by the unless due to illness, injury or other valid reason. 2. Notify the coach if unable to attend a carnival due to any of the above reasons. 3. The Mid Hills Carnival and SA Country Championships are COMPULSORY (This does not apply to 11& U for Country championships). 4. Attend all scheduled training sessions, unless due to injury, illness or other valid reason. 5. Notify the coach if unable to attend training due to any of the above reasons. 6. Any player who does not attend two consecutive training sessions without valid reason may be replaced. 7. Attend the Mid Hills Presentation night. 8. Support fundraising activities on behalf of the representative teams. Parents/Guardians of under age players are required to offer support. 9. Behave in a responsible manner to ensure the Mid Hills Association does not come into disrepute. 10. Whilst a player has a right to be given as near as possible to equal time on the court during the carnival season minor rounds, she does NOT have the right to dispute a coaches decision as to who plays in any given game. 11. Full uniform, as approved by the Association is to be worn whilst attending any carnival. 12. Medical forms must be completed and returned to the Team manager prior to the first scheduled game. 13. Strapping and medical supplies are to be supplied by individual players for existing injuries. 14. Smoking is NOT permitted in any official netball area. 15. Payment/part payment of fees by start of Carnival season or as negotiated.
Parents and Guardians The delivery of junior netball would not be possible without the ongoing commitment of parents and guardians, who provide voluntary support in many ways. Their expectations and attitudes significantly affect the enjoyment that their children receive from sports participation. To ensure that children receive the greatest benefit from their netball activity, parents and guardians should: If children are interested, encourage them to play netball. However, if a child is not willing to play, do not force him or her. Focus on the child s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists the child in setting realistic goals related to their ability by reducing the emphasis on winning. Teach children that honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment. Encourage children to always play according to the rules. Never ridicule or shout at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. Remember, children are involved in organised netball, which you can share if you handle it well. Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud good play by both teams. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from the playing arena. Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches. They give of their time and resources to provide recreational activities for the children and deserve your support. Be a model of good sports behaviour for children to copy.be courteous in communication with players, coaches, officials and administrators. If there is disagreement with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels.
