1 Mingara Athletics Club Inc Sponsorship Program October 1 st 2012 Sept 30 th 2013 Mingara Athletics Club Inc (MAC) is proud to continue to provide a sponsorship program via the generous funding from Mingara Recreation Club. The Sponsorship Program is designed for both the athlete competing at an elite level and the athlete who is striving to attain their personal best at differing levels of competition. Through the scheme it is envisaged that the athlete, the sport and supporting club are all provided with a high level of support in the achievement of athletic goals. The philosophy driving this program is based on the mutual promotion and support of Sponsorship Levels and Benefits In 2012/13 the membership levels have been simplified. Level 1 Credit on current membership for 1 summer and/or 1 winter State Title from previous Season Level 2 Membership to ANSW Level 3 Membership to ANSW and Track Pass Coach Coaches of Sponsored Athletes In addition to the above, all sponsored athletes and sponsored coaches will be entitled to share in: Funds of up to $4000 toward travel outside of Newcastle, Central Coast and Sydney and entry in nominated events. Travel funds may be allocated for state and national titles Athletics NSW (ANSW)/Athletics Australia (AA), representation for NSW, Australia or Australian masters, and special events where athletes are selected or need to qualify such as the Sydney Track Classic or Grand Prix. The amount of funds allocated to sponsored athletes and coaches will depend upon the number of people sponsored, the demand for travel funding assistance and the amount of funds available. Qualifying Criteria for Sponsorship To be eligible for sponsorship athletes must meet all of the following qualifying criteria: Athletes must be a member of Mingara Athletics Club Inc. All eligible athletes will be required to pay the appropriate club membership levy prior to gaining sponsorship. In 2012/13 the club fees for sponsored athletes are Senior $30, 20&U $20, and dual Little A/MAC $10. Athletes over 18 on 1 October 2012 applying for sponsorship must be current members of the Mingara Recreation Club. Athletes who turn 18 during the 2012/13 year are then expected to join Mingara Recreation Club Athletes must attain 50 points by competing in ANSW events throughout the year (See application form) Athletes must meet the following compulsory participation requirements: Summer: at least 4 local Competitions, 2 Tuesday Track nights (from 2012/13)and 1 State Relay event Winter: 2 State Premiership events, 2 Tuesday Track nights (from 2012/13) and 1 State Relay Event. If you are a full year athlete then 4 Tuesday track and at least 1 relay summer and 1 relay winter Level 1 athletes must have attended the relevant State Titles in either of the previous Winter or Summer seasons Level 2 athletes must qualify for Level 1 plus demonstrate a quality performance such as win a Country Championship Title where there were 3 or more athletes, LA s State titles medalist, PS State Medalist Level 3 athletes must have demonstrated a high quality performance such as: NSW All Schools medalist, CHS Schools medalist, Open State Qualified for Australian All Schools, U/20, U/23-Open or Nationals. State Record in any age ANSW state competition. 2 To be eligible for Coach Sponsorship a coach must meet the following qualifying criteria: Coach MAC athletes receiving Level 3 sponsorship Be an accredited athletics coach with AA and/or ATFCA Coach at Mingara or Adcock Park Be a member of the Mingara Recreation Club Be a member of Mingara Athletic Club Inc Special Circumstances Mingara Athletics Club understands that sometimes club members who are striving to attain the personal best at differing levels of competition are held back from doing so by special circumstances. The Club has the discretion to provide some assistance to help club members in these special circumstances. Members seeking such assistance should apply to the Club in writing stating their special assistance. Members who receive assistance for special circumstances have the same responsibilities as other sponsored members. Sponsored Athletes and Coaches Responsibilities In return for sponsorship athletes will have the following responsibilities: Athletes must wear Club Uniform and club clothing at all MAC, ANSW and AA competitions unless required to wear a representative uniform such as NSW or Australia. Any other exemption must be sought before competing Compete at State and National Titles where qualified Be available for promotional activities wearing Club Uniform or Club clothing. If a sponsored athlete cannot meet compete at selected competitions, functions or promotional events they need to advise the Club prior to the competition, function or event in writing or via to the committee. If the reason is confidential, they may advise verbally via their coach, manager or a committee member. In return for sponsorship coaches will have the following responsibilities: Ensure their athletes meet their sponsorship responsibilities Encourage their athletes to meet the compulsory participation requirements and earn their 50 points for next season Be available for promotional activities. Application Process Summer and full year athletes and coaches must apply between 15 September and 31 October Winter only athletes and coaches must apply between 15 March and 30 April Note: there are separate application forms for athletes and coaches. Those athletes seeking sponsorship are required to: Submit a duly completed Athlete sponsorship application form that includes: Code of Conduct 2011/12 competition summary including the four local competitions at Mingara in the 2011/12 season 50 points summary for the 2011/12 season Where appropriate, their Mingara Recreation Club membership number and Coach s name Submit signed Registration Forms for Mingara Athletics Club Inc and ANSW Pay their MAC membership fee ($30, $20 or $10 as appropriate) Those coaches seeking sponsorship are required to: Submit a duly completed Coach sponsorship application form that includes the Code of Conduct and their Mingara Recreation Club membership number Submit signed Registration Forms for Mingara Athletics Club Inc and ANSW if required Pay their MAC membership fee ($30) Submit signed application and Code of Ethics forms. Failure to do so will negate eligibility for sponsorship. Applicants must attend a meeting with members of the committee as part of the interview process. Limited positions are available and applications will be considered on a first come basis. The committee may consider late applications accompanied by a written submission for consideration of special circumstances. To not act in a manner that is contrary to the interests of the Mingara Athletic Club Inc Sponsorship Program and to show a positive commitment to the rules and procedures of the Mingara Athletic Club Inc Sponsorship Program. 3. To refrain from conduct that could be interpreted as harassment towards other athletes and coaches. 4. Refrain from and discourage the use of performance enhancing drugs as well as alcohol and tobacco 5. Take the utmost care of the equipment used within the Mingara Athletic Club Inc Sponsorship Program as well as to respect my fellow squad members and competitors equipment 6. Be honest and open with the Mingara Athletic Club Inc Sponsorship Program Manager and committee concerning any illness and injury which may affect my ability to train and race within the Club s Sponsorship Program as well as to be honest about my overall attitude and commitment to training. 7. Behave in an appropriate manner when representing Mingara Athletics Club, ANSW and Athletics Australia when competing in events and travelling to and from the events. 8. Wear the MAC uniform as directed by the committee/ Coach at all races and in events wherever it is possible under ANSW guidelines 9. To wear appropriate clothing at ANSW or AA events when not wearing ANSW Program clothing. The interpretation of appropriate clothing is at the sole discretion of the committee. 10. To race fairly and to always respect the final decision of the race referee. 11. Any nominated home coach, will be required to follow the above code of conduct.
