1 24 August, 2018 Re : MOTHER TERESA CATHOLIC COLLEGE SPORTS CLUBS Dear Parents/Guardians I am pleased to announce the introduction of Mother Teresa Catholic College Sports Clubs, and to provide you information about the opportunities that will available for you and your child. The benefits of sport and physical activity are well documented and, as a College, we would like to offer our students the opportunity to be involved in organised sports as part of our sports club. From this term, we will be registering Basketball and Netball teams in local competitions through the Rockingham Netball and Basketball Associations, and offering our students the chance to compete in established leagues with friends that they associate with on a daily basis. This benefits students not only through physical activity, but allows all involved to further develop relationships with peers and friends. We understand that many of our students already play Netball or Basketball in the same competitions that the College will be registering with. Like wise, we know there are a number who, for a variety of reasons, have not yet committed to a sport or team. We would love for all of our students to be part of one of our teams and, in turn represent, our College. Our aim is for any student who would like to play Netball or Basketball to do so within the upcoming Spring or Summer seasons (depending on the chosen sport) 2018/19. Information regarding age groups and fees for both sports can be found below. Basketball - Summer Season 2018/19 (Term 4, 2018 and Term 1, 2019) Age groups from 8y/o 14y/o Game times o Under 10 & 12 Friday evenings (Mike Barnett Sports Complex) o Under 14 & 16 Thursday evenings (Mike Barnett Sports Complex) The 2018/19 Summer Season fee includes all 18 regular season games including finals (if applicable), purchase of team uniform (MTCC Singlet & Shorts), player and team registrations, training facilities and equipment at the College, as well as season wind up celebration. Cost based on 8 players per team $ pp Netball 2018 Spring Season (Term 4: 17 October December 2018) Age Groups from 8y/o 14y/o Game Times o Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14 Wednesday Evenings (Mike Barnett Sports Complex)

2 The Spring season fee includes all 8 regular season games, purchase of team uniform (Dress) player and team registrations, training facilities and equipment at the College as well as season wind up. Cost based on 10 players per team $ pp (currently unregistered RDNA) $ (currently registered RDNA) Netball Spring/Summer Net Set Go Term 3 & 4 (& possibly Term 1) Age Groups PP Yr 2 Non competitive, skills and training sessions aimed at getting kids introduced to the game of Netball. Training on a weekly basis (Tuesday afternoons from throughout Term 3, 4 and possibly Term The Term 3 & 4 fee includes all training sessions, MTCC Netball T-Shirt, ball, training facilities and equipment at the college, as well as season wind up celebration. Cost per student is $70.00pp (Remainder of Term 3 and all of term 4 - usual cost per term) We currently have 1 or 2 experienced parents who have expressed interested in coaching this age group, however depending on numbers we will require other parents to assist on a regular basis. WINTER SEASON Both sports also have Winter seasons that can and will be registered closer to the time. The costs and season-length for Winter Basketball is similar to the Summer/Spring season, but Netball has a slightly longer Winter season of weeks (depending on nominations & divisions) We would love to see as many of our students as possible involved in our College Sports Clubs competing in the local competitions. Your child s ability and experience in either sport are by no means a pre-requisite, as different levels of competition are available. There is a lot of work behind the scenes to guarantee the success of our sports clubs and my aim is to ensure this happens. As with any sports club, we will only be successful with the support of students and, very importantly, their parents. We will require a number of people to assist with coaching and managing teams. This is not a babysitting service and the commitment from all parents who s child participates in and represents a College Sports Club is essential. So we know how many students/teams we need to register, quantities of uniforms to be ordered, what sports equipment we need to invest in, and so on, we require a firm commitment from parents. If you would like your child to participate in the competative Netball or Basketball team/s, please complete the registration form below and return it to the College administration office with the deposit by Friday 31 August. (Week 7) Please take some time to discuss this with your child/children as the deposit is non refundable unless we are unable to field a full team of 8 or 10 depending on the chosen sport.
