Prez Sez April Warmer weather is here and with it comes the car shows, but also the rain which tends to dampen our activities and spirits. Let s hope we get a chance of blue skies and great shows at the same time. The Lake Arthur show got rescheduled to the same weekend as the Breaux Bridge show. I made the BB show in the am and the Lake Arthur show in the pm and both had a significant number of cars but not nearly the ones they had last year since they were in competition for the same weekend. Check your emails for updates on show and cruises. Sorry I missed the last meeting but was sitting in the Dallas airport trying to get to Tucson for an NCRS judging meet. The event was great but travel back and forth thru Dallas was not what it should have been. Took me an extra day to get home but hey if you don t have a story to tell about travel I guess it means you did go. Thanks to VP Tom for running the meeting and I am sure he did a great job. Corvettescruisinggalveston.com is the website for an upcoming show that is being put on May 29-31 in Galveston, Texas. If you want any more information about it, check the website out. We have several members going and will try to make a cruise together to Galveston or we will have a hook up spot in Galveston to meet. Let us know if you decided to join the group. This is their first annual and I am told it is successful with registration so far. May 16th is the Tri-City Show in Beaumont. We had several members attend last year and got their share of goodies to bring home. Looks like the club has added a few more attractions this year as well. Check out their website and we will talk at meeting if anyone wants to lead a cruise to Beaumont that Saturday. Also that same weekend, the Cruisin Cajun Country 2015 will be going on from Thursday the 14th thru Saturday the 16th with poker runs, swamp tours, car show and a whole list of activities. See the flyer for this one as well. This will replace the annual 1 day Cruisin the Teche that Daniel usually heads up. There are many upcoming shows listed on the events page. If anything catches your eye, let us know and maybe we can get a few to ride along and make it a cruise. Our annual show this year will be on Halloween, Oct 31 at the Harley Davidson shop just like in the past, but a week later than usual. This gives us the opportunity to make it a little different with tricks and treats and costumes and whatever to raise money for whatever charity we take on this year. Save the wave Maxie

Bayou State Corvette Club Meeting Minutes Members in Attendance, Cindy Rodriguez, Rick and Bettie Louviere, Tressie and Glenn Taylor, Ken and Julie Turner, Jack Wise, Tom and Vicki Diermann, Roland and Janet Boudreaux, and Louis and Julia Broussard. Meeting called to order by Tom Diermann. Meeting was first time on new day and small turnout due to terrible weather predicted for that evening. Rick and Bettie Louviere told us all about their Museum Delivery of their new 2015 Corvette, but we did not get to see it due to the terrible rain that was predicted. Maybe next time. Discussion was open for upcoming show and picking a charity. Cindy suggested Project Independence for Autism. Several members stated that we had given to the Autism society previously and decided to table that charity. Bettie Louviere will do research on local Veterans organizations to donate to. We are talking about older veterans since they seem to be the ones still in need after all these years. Bettie will have something for us at the next meeting. Definite date for our annual show is October 31 this year which is Halloween, so thinking about using that somehow for theme or special award for show. Tom will talk with Bev Everett about getting us some air time on local tv or radio to promote show. Bettie will check with hotel to see if we can get any discount rates for that weekend to promote the show. Corvette Museum is coming again this year and will be bringing a special representative that is retired from Corvette and will be available to give a seminar or demonstration the day of the show. Discussion on selling raffle tickets again this year with prizes being set at $300, $150, $50. Meeting adjourned and group went to Rochetto s pizza for dinner. Next meeting will be TAX DAY-April 15th!!!!
Meeting was called to order at 7PM. February 12, 2015 Meeting Minutes Member introductions were made. Present were Maxie and Cindy Rodriguez, Rick and Bettie Louviere, Glenn and Tressie Taylor, Daniel and Jeanette Gonsoulin, Fred and Phyllis Romero, Larry Chapman, Jack and Chris Wise, Ken and Julie Turner, Thad and Jodie Lejeune, Roland and Janet Boudreaux, and new members Gerald and Pamela Mayeaux. The Mayeaux s met one of our members in Rayne and decided to come to the meeting and join the club. They have an 87 Red Convertible. Pamela is from Peru and Gerald and Pam run a restaurant Yellow Rose of Texas in Iquitos, Peru. They split their time each year living a few months in Rayne and living a few months in Peru. They seem like a great couple and had many stories to share with us during dinner. A motion was made at our last meeting to change the day and date of our monthly club meeting. This motion was in our last newsletter and this meeting was a vote to change. Bettie Louviere made the motion to change to 3rd Wednesday of each month. Janet Boudreaux seconded the motion. Vote was taken and everyone agreed to change the day and date. Ken Turner will make the notations on the website and Facebook page to let everyone know. Jodie Lejeune talked about the 1st Annual Corvette Cruise in Galveston for May 29th. We will bring this up at another meeting when we get even more information and see if we can get interest in this long weekend of Corvettes. Valentine dinner plans were discussed and a big box of chocolates was given away to a lucky lady, Tressie Taylor. 50/50 tickets were sold and lucky winner of $29 was our new member, Gerald Mayeaux. March 1, Ken Turner is celebrating his cars anniversary and wants to set up a cruise. Shucks was planned but found out not open on Sunday. Alternate site was Prejeans. Daniel Gonsoulin will be writing an article for the newsletter for March.
