Richmond Hill Athletic Team Richmond Hill sporting Success continues into the spring term. The Year 6 Athletic Team competed against other Doncaster Schools at Dearn Valley Leisure Centre in January. The children took part in a variety running, jumping and throwing events. We are extremely proud of how they conducted themselves when competing against other Doncaster schools. The children really enjoyed themselves at this event. They demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm for themselves and their team members. The children came 2 nd place, just missing 1 st place by four points. Well done we are extremely proud of you all.
Playground Leaders at Richmond Hill As part of our Sports Premium package, we employ Active Fusion to come into school to teach our children playground games. This is part of our plan to increase children s physical activity by introducing new games at playtimes.
New Sporting Equipment at Richmond Hill The children at Richmond Hill expressed an Interest in Table Tennis. The Sports Premium funding provided our school with 30 bats and balls. This has now increased our sporting provisions giving all our children the opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities. This adds to our challenge of getting all Richmond Hill Children interested in a sporting activity.
Richmond Hill Gymnastic Team Pupils from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the Doncaster gymnastic finals. The children had to learn a set gymnastic routine that included a forward roll to stand, front, side and back support, balances, arabesque, stepping and a cart wheel. They also had to do a vault and dismount with either a straight or tuck body shape. These routines were performed individually in front of a very large audience. The girls absolutely had the time of their life and had the opportunity to learn new skill for e.g. mini trampet, beam activities and a variety of gymnastic actions from a professional gymnast. The girls were very brave and performed brilliantly and looked absolutely stunning in their new kit. School blue leotard and lycra shorts. Year 3 came 10 th, Year 4 came 9th, and Year 5 and 6 came 8 th place. These places were out of 22 teams from other Doncaster schools that also took part in this competition. Well done girls we are so proud of you.
Richmond Hill Cheerleading Team These children are very excited as they were on their way to the prestigious cheerleading county Finals competition at The Institute of sport in Sheffield. The children had to compete firstly at The Doncaster Cheerleading finals whereby they came FIRST place. This then automatically gave them a place at the county finals. The girls are a mix on Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils. The competition rules state in order to compete at county standard the team had to have compulsory cheerleading elements. Such as a chant, pyramid lift, dance and acrobatics. They worked tremendously hard and the girls gave up their dinnertime break to practice all these elements. They came 6 th place out of the whole of South Yorkshire. This is the highest place a Doncaster Primary school has ever come in this event. We are Sooooooooooooooo Proud of you all a massive well done girls. You are a credit to the school.
New Age Kurling and Boccia Team These children are excited because after competitng at the Doncaster finals and coming First place they are going to the county finals at the Institute of Sport In Sheffield city. Some of these children are competing in the New age Kurling competiton. This sport is a form of the original curling game. It is adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth flat surface rather than Ice. The children played fantastically and came 4 th place out of the whole of South Yorkshire Primary School teams. They just missed a bronze medal by a couple of points. The Boccia team came second place in the whole of South Yorkshire Primary school teams. They brought home a prestigious Silver medal. Boccia is a target ball sport belonging to the same family as petanque and bowls. Well done to both teams you both played absolutely fantastic. The school is bursting with pride because of your magnanimous triumph.
Richmond Hill Tag Rugby Team The Tag Rugby team was invited to play at the Doncaster finals at Wheatley Rugby Club in Sprotbrough. The children played absolutely brilliantly and with good team spirit. They passed the ball to each other and each and every one of them were like lightning bolts trying to get through the defence line to score a touchdown. The head coach commented on how fast they were and that they gave a good demonstration of their defence tactics. Other schools also commented on how well they behave and what impeccable manners they had. 16 schools took part in this competition and we came 5 th place in our section. A brilliant place to say they have only played together a few times. Well done Richmond Hill Tag Rugby Team we are so proud of you all.
