The weekend before the event, several members showed up to do the massive amount of work that goes into preparing our field for our guests. With a grim weather forecast of 80% rain for the weekend, Saturday ended up being a great day to fly following the heavy morning rain. Sunday was good as well. The weather likey kept most attendants home. We did have three visiting pilots and they were Jim Brannum from San Antonio, Barry Surrat from Idalou and Robert Walker from Big Spring. Thanks to all of the participants from near and far we had a great meet despite the forecast. With our fall Fly-In behind us, we now turn our attention to the TINY Fly-In which will be here sooner than we realize. So make the meeting this week and we will chat about this and other club business this Thursday Evening at 7:00 PM at the Golden Corral Restaurant. Come early if you would like to eat. New Quad Course Layout! We ve reconfigured the Quad race course so that is larger, more challenging and By Jimmy Gaona repositioned so that it doesn t interfere with the runway flight path. In addition to the gates we ve added a couple of vertical poles to navigate around and finally the flight path is marked with different colored cones and flags to help pilots follow the course. Feel free to test your skills on the new course and let us know what you think. More pictures of the field are on the website. Mosquito Alert! With the recent heavy rainfall and water accumulation, the mosquitoes at the field are really bad, especially in the early morning and late afternoons. Remember to bring insect repellent whenever you visit the field.
