The workshops will be held on March 26 th -27 th from 4:30pm-7:00pm and tryouts on the 28 th. You will have a tremendous opportunity to share your experience with other cheerleaders. Jennifer E. Cheerleading Requirements I. Tryout Eligibility 1) Developed stunting (ex lib, heel stretch, full downs etc.) 2) Physically fit 3) Outgoing personality 4) Academically sound (2.0 or above) 5) High self esteem 6) High spirited 7) Enthusiastic 8) Capable of working with others 9) Willing to make sacrifices for the team 10) Advanced skills (Clean jumps, sharp motions/technique) 11) If you were previously on the squad and quit, you re not eligible to tryout**no EXCEPTIONS** II. Material/Schedule A) All candidates will be responsible for the following material: 1) Gymnastics (standing back-handspring, standing back-tuck, standing back-handspring back tuck and running tumbling etc.) **not required but a plus** 2) Cheer, Dance, Stunts (fight song, extension, liberty, heel stretch, arabesque, scorpion, scale, full downs and double full downs) **If not a flyer must be able to base or back spot all stunts above** B) The tryout schedule will be held in the gymnasium as follows: Wednesday March 25 th : Meet and Greet 6-8pm (Commons) Thursday March 26 h : Workshop 4:30-7:00pm (Gymnasium) Friday March 27 th : Workshop 4:30-7:00pm (Gymnasium) Saturday March 28 th : Tryouts 9am-Until III. Attire/Safety Awareness A) Candidates should wear cheer shorts (sofee) Navy (not loose or baggy), fitted white t-shirt or sports bra and cheerleading shoes/ tennis shoes to tryouts. DO NOT WEAR: NYLON SHORTS OR LEGGINGS. Hair should be tied back or pinned away from the face (NATURAL HAIRSTYLES UNKEPT, MESSY HAIR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE). NO JEWLERY OF ANY KINDS WILL BE ALLOWED AT WORKSHOPS OR TRYOUTS!!!!! NAILS NO LONGER THEN FINGER TIPS!!!! B) It s recommended to dress nicely for meet and greet, it s important to see how you will conduct yourselves in a professional manner.

C) Candidates MUST work in groups of FOUR; candidates are to practice ONLY those stunts that are authorized by the SSHS Cheer Coaches. D) Anyone violating these rules will not be allowed to stunt for the remainder of that session. IV. Eligibility- (for candidates chosen for the 2015-2016 SSHS Squad(s) A) Each squad member must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in order to remain eligible to cheer V. GENERAL POLICIES A) Exhibits excellent sportsmanship qualities B) Follows directions given by the coach or the assistant coach C) Puts the welfare of the team ahead of personal gain D) Maintains a positive attitude and respect toward coaches and other squad members E) Provides proper care and maintenance of school issued uniforms and equipment F) Attends all scheduled practices unless absent from school due to illness or injury (a phone call to the coach from a PARENT WILL BE REQUIRED in addition to calling the Southeast Attendance Office) G) Always has a ride home and is picked up ON TIME after practices and games H) Agrees to abide by all rules and regulations set by the coaches and the school I) Has a physical by a certified physician and an athletic card on file in the Athletic Office (BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS) J) Has proof of health insurance or purchases a school policy K) The cheerleaders will participate in different fundraisers to raise the funds necessary for the needs of the squad. Unless a parent does a buy out! VI. TIME OBLIGATIONS A) Practices WILL BEGIN 04/06/15 B) Holiday vacations will be determined according to regular season games and tournaments. These will also be MANDATORY!! If our boys are there, it s are OBLIGATION to be there cheering them on VII. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION A) As a member of the SSHS Cheer Squad, you will cheer for Varsity Football and JV and Varsity Basketball, fundraisers, and special engagements scheduled by coaches and SSHS Athletic Department. B) The number of candidates chosen will be determined by the natural break in scores. COACHES WILL HAVE FINAL SAY!!!
