The 36th Kansas City Wide Open
Welcome to the 36th Annual Kansas City Wide Open Presented by Innova Congratulations, you made a great decision!! We are happy to have you in Kansas City for the 36th Wide Open. This year has not been without its faults but rest assured that we are dedicated towards making your time here in Kansas City one filled with disc golf excitement and challenges. This weekend, we have set up the courses at Rosedale and Water Works to mirror the upcoming PDGA Masters World Championships to be held in August 2018. In addition, you will see some new updates at Cliff Drive, complete with new holes and other features. Blue Valley remains the ever-daunting challenge with hilly landscapes. This course will provide either the start or finish to your weekend. As always, we hope that you find these challenges as exciting as we have in preparing them for you. Unfortunately, the recent loss of Swope Disc Golf Park has left a hole in the heart of our disc golf community, especially those who frequented the course. While we can t replicate the memories of Swope, we are working diligently with the Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation at moving the course within a mile of the former location. Our belief is that we will be back throwing plastic and hitting the chains at Swope in 2020. As the disc golf community continues to grow, we are challenged to continually improve our area courses. With that said, the dedication in supporting our courses is what makes Kansas City one of the best places in the world to play. Over the past two decades we have hosted multiple World Championships, National Tours, Super Tours, and countless charitable events. Our community rises to the occasion like few others in the world. We pride ourselves on giving our best at all times but work to make it a little better this time of the year. Finally, your feedback is more than welcomed and if you see something wrong, don t hesitate to let me know. Conversely, if you see something positive, be gracious and thank those you see since they are out there to help make this weekend a memorable disc golf experience for all. Congratulations, Jack Lowe
KCFDC.ORG Thirty six years ago, a few visionary members of the Kansas City Disc Golf created the first Kansas City Wide Open, an epic event that some describe as a monster tournament. It is with that passion we are happy to have you in our disc golf community this week. So kudos to those who founded the event and also many thanks to the current volunteers for their efforts. To the participants, we thank you for playing our wonderful sport in our own backyard. Please take a moment this weekend as you play each course to think about how our community has helped the sport evolve, including the time and effort it takes to host the Wide Open. With that said, we wish all the competitors and spectators a safe and wonderful experience in Kansas City this week! Sincerely The KCFDC BoD and its Members

If a subsequent throw (after the Tee shot) comes to rest OB, and crossed into OB PRIOR to the flagged line, play your next shot using normal OB rules to mark where the disc was last in bounds on the fairway, with a penalty throw. If a subsequent throw (after the Tee shot) comes to rest OB, and crossed into OB PAST the flagged line, you must proceed to the marked Drop Zone, with a penalty throw. If any throw from the Drop Zone comes to rest OB, re-throw from the Drop Zone, with a penalty throw. Sponsored by Gary Harvey G$ PDGA #9174 Gambling Disc Golf Instructor How to make Disc Golf more interesting as an AM FOR LIFE Gambling with G$ The rules are simple, everything is a $1. At the end of the round you pay the difference between your dollars. $1=Hitting a tree on any shot after your drive. Shots that go in the basket are voided out. $1=Out of Bounds or a Lost Disc, if you go out of bounds and lose your disc you still only lose $1. $1=Low Putt, any putt inside of the circle that hits the basket or below is a DOLLAR!! $1=Skins, the winner of the hole gets a skin if the hole is tied, the next hole is worth 2 skins, and so on. If after 18 there is a tie, before round talk about next round continuance or if they just die, and no one pays. Always start on hole #1 in skins, so you should keep your own scorecard, and track honestly HONESTY JACK, BE TRUE! $5/per round bet. If you have the low score, you win $5. If you have the low score all tourney you should add a 2x multiplier for the WINNER! Depending on the field size, finishing in the top 3, 5, 10 should have a bonus of $10-$20 AND loser buys a steak dinner on the way home! See? Simple!
