HOLCOMBE HUNT PONY CLUB MEMBERS NEWS HOLCOMBE HUNT PC MEMBER MEETS THE QUEEN!!!!! HHPC member Lucie Mason and her pony Barney were part of a guard of honour at Her Majesty the Queen s 90th birthday celebration. The Queen is the Patron of the Fell Pony Society and they were invited to be part of the celebrations at Windsor Castle in July. The ponies and their riders escorted Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip as they drove through the private grounds of Windsor Castle. What an honour and what fabulous memories to treasure!

PAGE 2 PONY CLUB CAMP AUGUST 2016 What a great time we had at camp this year at Warren Farm. The weather was very challenging with very heavy winds which prevented stables and the tents going up in readiness for people arriving. The weather continued to be unkind and we had to weight the tents down at one point to stop them blowing away! We had a great time at laser quest and bowling on the Wednesday night, except for Lesley who crashed her car!!! : ( There were lots of badges ( 43 to be exact ) completed and the following people also passed these tests: Daisy and Millie - E test Jess, Jenny, Demi, Jonty, Daisy and Millie - D test Lucy, Kayleigh, Demi, Sam, Sarah, Jess, Phoebe, Isobel - D+ test Kathryn, Fleur and Katie - C test Ruby - silver 3 Becca, Charlotte and Tori - silver 2 and 1 Thank you to everyone who helps to make Camp happen, the volunteers, instructors and special thanks to Isobel Merrifield our official camp photographer.

PAGE 3 AREA DRESSAGE COMPETITION Well done to our Teams at the area dressage event at Bold Heath. The Senior Team were Becky Bolam, Becca Murphy, Becky Wheeler and Megan Latham. Becky Bolam was placed 5th in her arena! The junior team of Phoebe Brophy, Kayleigh Lowton-Heathcote, Jonty Whitehead and Felicity Whitehead were fabulous in the first year of a new competition called Grassroots. The Team were sixth and qualified for the finals which took place at Eland Lodge. Unfortunately some of the Team Members were on holiday and so they were not able to go to the finals but there is always next year! MUSICAL RIDE Our musical ride team had a great day at the Pony Club Championships at Cholmondley Castle in August. The theme was A Tribute to the Equestrian Nations and the Team was: Demi Carter USA, Kathryn May Great Britain, Phoebe Brophy Belgium, Becca Murphy Canada, Fleur Carter Italy and Tori Murphy France. All of the practice paid of and the pinwheel was beautifully ridden! The costumes and props were fantastic and all the ponies were well behaved. Special thanks to Amanda and Jacky for instruction, choreography and the music!

P AGE 4 M OUNTED GAMES ZONE FINALS What a great year our senior mounted games team have had. In their first season riding together they managed to qualify for the zone finals at Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire. The team of Fleur Carter, Kathryn May, Tori Murphy and Charlotte Staines narrowly missed out on a place at the pony club championships after some very exciting races.

PAGE 4 DATES FOR YOUR DIARY Rally: 3rd of October and 7th of November at Croft Top. Badge training: 9th of October and 6th of November at Ramsbottom Fire Station. Mounted Games Training Day: 25th of November at Myerscough. Mounted Games Training: 7th of October and 18th of November at Hole Hill Farm. Dressage Winter League at Landlords Farm: 30th of October, 13th of November and 27th of November. Show Jumping Training: 14th of October and 9th of December at Osbaldeston. Winter League Show Jumping: 29th of October and 12th of November at Osbaldeston. Please keep a check on the website and facebook page for any updates. We really need helpers for the winter league dressage events which are GOING FORWARD We are currently reviewing everybody's achievements and as there has been so many over the year we will be looking at the format of future training and rallies to suit our members and encourage fun and progression. Hopefully we will be able to enjoy more of the grassroots events that pony club will be introducing next year including an eventing / ODE competition. We also have plans to introduce a points reward system for tack and turn out at pony club events in the new year. So this means PC clothing wherever possible, hair tied back in hair nets, correct footwear, no jewellery, jodhpur clips and clean tack. 85TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS The room is booked, the invitations are ready, the food is ordered and the DJ on stand by. Get your tickets for the 85th birthday celebration and presentation night on the 19th of November at Harwood Golf Club. Tickets are priced at 6 for members and 10 for non-members. Don t miss out places are limited, raffle prizes have already been donated by Ben Hobday and Gilliver Vets. Its going to be a great night!
