CAROLINA ELITE STARS PROGRAM HANDBOOK 2014-2015 2015
Parent / Cheerleader CODES OF CONDUCT 2014-2015 If you ever have a problem, with anything, please do not hesitate to contact the gym, your coach, or the Carolina Elite All-Star Director. We are here for YOU!!! If you have any questions or concerns that need immediate attention, please use the following chain of command: 1. Team Rep 2. Head Coach 3. Carolina Elite All-Star Director 4. Owner It is YOUR responsibility to wear the appropriate practice wear to every practice. Any additional clothing items (sweats, long pants, etc.), cell phones, school bags or gym bags must be taken into the gym and stored in the gym cubbies. NO items are to be left on the gym floor. All cell phones must be TURNED OFF when practice starts. NO GOSSIP about any other teams (Carolina Elite Stars or School). NO GOSSIP about a child on your team or another team. NO GOSSIP about Coaches and Staff. It is much better to address a problem than to listen to idle gossip. No profanity or abusive language. Please keep in mind the gym is not a babysitting service. We want our Carolina Elite Stars to use the gym as often as possible, but no child should be dropped off at the gym unsupervised. You must arrive at all practices, competitions or any scheduled event ON TIME. Punctuality is a MUST! During practice, your opinion does not count. All squad and routine decisions are left to the discretion of the coaches. Please feel free to talk to your coach(es) about anything; just remember to do it at the appropriate times. For example, approaching a coach in the middle of a practice would not be an appropriate time. NEVER POST any negative comments on any websites or chat rooms.
No one is allowed to post Carolina Elite music, Choreography, Routines, Stunts, etc., on any websites without the owner s permission. This includes but is not limited to: o My Space o Face Book o You Tube o Twitter o Etc. Every year we go through losses and additions of team members. The dismissal/addition of a team member is solely the coach s decision. Practices may be changed or added at any time during the season. Anyone threatening to quit or to pull their child from a squad will be dismissed from the program immediately. Please do not take valuables to the gym; we are not responsible for unattended items. Only cheerleaders and coaches are allowed on the floor. No one is allowed to yell to the practice floor or try to make contact through the parent viewing area window during practices or tumble classes. This is extremely distracting to all involved. The coaches reserve the right to close practices at ANY time for ANY reason. In this event, the team rep will remain at practices. It is the parent s responsibility to know what is going on with your squad. Check your emails and the website regularly. Withholding a child from a practice or a competition should never be used as a form of punishment. Athletes should be able to handle school work and Carolina Elite Star practices; homework is not an acceptable excuse for missing practice. Each team will be assigned teams to watch at competitions. We would love to have everyone there all day, but at the very least, you are obligated to watch your assigned teams. Parents, relatives, friends and cheerleaders are never allowed to speak with competition officials for any reason. Parents are never allowed to represent The Carolina Elite All-Stars under any circumstances concerning accommodations, competitions or any other situation.
All Carolina Elite cheerleaders and Carolina Elite family/friends will show good sportsmanship at all times. There will be no arguing or questioning of the coaching staff s decisions at competitions. If a problem arises between you and a team mate or another parent, the problem will be addressed with all parties involved at a meeting with your coach and the Carolina Elite All- Star Director. Anonymous emails / letters / texts / twitters, etc., will be ignored. The Carolina Elite All-Star Director may change, add or subtract any rule at any time. GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, POLITE MANNERS AND A KIND DISPOSITION ARE MANDATORY AT ALL COMPETITIONS AND PRACTICES. THIS PROGRAM PRIDES ITSELF ON SETTING A HIGH STANDARD OF BEHAVIOR. PLEASE HELP US TO CONTINUE IN THIS ENDEAVOR. GYM DRESS CODE Athletes will be required to wear Carolina Elite practice wear and adhere to the practice wear calendar. If any athlete forgets to wear practice wear, they will be required to stay after practice for extra conditioning regardless of the reason. If you have lost your practice wear, please contact the office to purchase new practice wear. NO JEWELRY. Coaches are not responsible for holding or storing jewelry. Cheer shoes should be worn to EVERY practice; they are required as a part of practice wear. COMPETITION DRESS CODE You must wear your complete uniform. At no time should your skirt be worn over pants or warm-ups. All athletes must be in complete uniform for ALL Award Ceremonies. All jewelry must be removed PRIOR to going to warm-ups. Your coach is NOT responsible for holding your jewelry. Hair is to remain in the designated style for the entire competition. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND NOSE RINGS AND SOME OTHER BODY JEWLERY CAN BE PAINFUL TO PUT IN AND TAKE OUT FREQUENTLY. THIS WILL NOT BE AN EXCUSE FOR NOT REMOVING IT DURING PRACTICES AND COMPETITIONS. IF IT HURTS TO BE REMOVED TAKE IT OUT FOR THE SEASON!
TARDINESS AND ABSENCE Excessive tardiness and absences are both harmful and disruptive to the team and very discouraging for teammates and coaches. Every single person is vital to the success of the team. If an athlete is constantly late or is missing practice unexcused, proper actions will be taken on an individual basis with the best intentions of the team in mind. Coaches reserve the right to dismiss an athlete from any team if there are continued attendance issues. If your child has more than three unexcused absences and is not dismissed from their team, your monthly tuition will be raised $25 for the remainder of the season. Excused absences include: o Death in the family o Contagious sickness as diagnosed by a doctor with a note o School functions where a grade is received Unexcused absences include: o Lack of a ride o Homework o Basic sickness o Sports games o Birthdays o Work o OR anything not approved by a coach We realize that families travel during the summer. Please communicate these dates directly to your child s coach keeping camp dates in mind. While every effort should be made to attend summer practice, note that practice becomes mandatory after choreography camp. Choreography dates and mandatory summer practice dates will be given at the first parent meeting. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY Every reasonable attempt will be made to open our doors for business on regular scheduled practice days. However, in the event of severe weather conditions, the gym will decide whether to open or not. Please check the website for up to date information.
PARKING LOT There are many children coming in and out of the gym at any given time safety is a concern for our children. Please slow down and watch for children. Please discuss safety with your child to ensure they wait inside for pickup and not in the parking lot. Please do not park in a place that prevents someone else from leaving. CONCERNS AND FEEDBACK We are always open to hearing your concerns or feedback; please contact your coach or Director directly to address any issues. Parent meetings are always available and can be scheduled through your coach or team parent directly. FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS All registered athletes are required to have an automatic draft form on file. If an athlete s account becomes delinquent, arrangements should be made to address this issue with the office. If the problem is not remedied, an athlete can be removed from his/her team at any time.
