Hooker received a patent for the mousetrap. 1923 Jacob Schick was granted a patent for the electric shaver. 1952 The first hydrogen bomb was exploded at Eniwetok Atoll in the Pacific Ocean.

Crayola ColorCycle Grissom Patriots are collecting used markers and highlighters (any brand) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Green collection boxes will be in each classroom and on the bench outside the Commons. The program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year. Remember, don t throw out that used marker ColorCycle it!

Box Tops for Education The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn them in to your PE/Health teacher.

Yearbook It s not too early to order your 2019 Grissom Yearbook! Forms are available in the rack outside the Main Office. You can also order online at http://yearbookforever.com/

Girls Basketball Come out and cheer for the Lady Patriots as they take on Orland today at home! Game time is 4:00. *Remember to bring your Grissom ID!

Hot Lunch Tomorrow is Hot Lunch. Please remember to thank the parents serving you. Without them, there would be no Hot Lunch program.

Boys Volleyball Good luck to the Patriots as they travel to Orland today!

Cheer/Dance All students interested in trying out for Cheer/Dance must attend the clinic on Tuesday, Dec. 4 th. Tryouts will be held after school on Wednesday, Dec. 5 th. Permission forms are in the rack outside the Main Office and must be turned in to Mrs. Griffin (Room 210) no later than Friday, Nov. 30 th.

Newspaper Club Newspaper Club staff members will meet Wednesday after school in Room 222.

Jazz Band Jazz Band rehearses every Wednesday from 4:00-5:15 at Prairie View.

Fannie May Friday is the last day to order Fannie May candy! Remember, you save 10% and there is no tax or delivery charge. All orders benefit the KEA Scholarship fund!

You Can Do the Cube Returns! Beginning Nov. 26 th in the Media Center, you may borrow a Rubik s Cube to help complete a mosaic image. In order to participate, you must meet the following requirements: *No fines! *No overdue books! *You must have your ID with you!

The Book Fair is Coming! The Book Fair is Coming! You may now shop online at Grissom s Book Fair by going to Scholastic.com Shop early! The Media Center Book Fair will be Monday, Nov. 12-Friday, Nov. 16.

Chorus Chorus rehearses after school every Monday and Thursday.

Intramurals Intramural sports are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:30. Volleyball intramurals are held on Tuesday, and Basketball intramurals are held on Thursday.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Grissom is once again collecting pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. There is a collection box on the bench outside the Commons for your donations.

Student Support Student Support is held in the Media Center before school every day from 8:00 8:35 and after school Monday through Thursday from 3:10-4:05. Please be sure to bring your work with you! You will need to sign in and stay the entire time. If you are a bus rider, please remember to sign up for the activity bus that day!

Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved 10,263 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. So far this year, we have saved 3,644 bottles! Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles!
