East Anglian Air Ambulance We need you today, You may need us tomorrow It is a little known fact that air ambulances in England & Wales are operated by charities, receiving no funding from either the Government or the National Lottery and relying entirely upon the generosity of their supporters and fund raising teams. With operating costs of 7.7m per year, but responsible for just over 5 million people living in the four counties we serve, it works out at only 2.50 per person per year to keep your helicopters flying. Based at Cambridge Airport, Anglia Two (the air ambulance for Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire) is only seen over Bedfordshire when on an emergency mission. At that time you will know it is with your help the crew are on their way to potentially save life. In May 2013 we became the first and only air ambulance to date in the Country to fly during the hours of darkness which was a magnificent achievement for our Charity. Later this year we hope to introduce a new and exciting development for our service in that we aim to carry blood on board the helicopter. This will allow us to provide a precious resource as should the need arise we will be able to transfuse a patient, at the scene of an accident, thus further enhancing the survival rate. For more information www.eaaa.org.uk The British Horse Society provides a strong voice for horses and people and spreads awareness through support, training and education. It is the largest and most influential equine charity in the UK, working in a spirit of partnership, with energy, commitment and knowledge, to promote and achieve the highest standards in all areas of equestrianism. From enthusiasts to riders and professionals, the BHS can help everyone get the most out of their relationship with horses. We offer world-class qualifications and an approvals system awarding quality instruction and care, a strong voice in access, safety and welfare issues and support and guidance in all areas. Whoever you are, working for you. In Bedfordshire the local committee of unpaid volunteers work to improve offroad riding, to address equine welfare concerns and to help local riders enjoy their horse (at events like this!).
