SATURDAY 17th November Utilising the waters of Kurnell, Bate Bay and the Port Hacking River, Port Hacking OCC will be hosting an AOCRA OC1/2 outrigger canoe race as part of the NSW AOCRA OC1 Elite Race Series. This event will include: OC1/2 Short Course 8km (Women s, Men s & Mixed) OC1/2 Long Course 19km (Women s Men s & Mixed) Elite Race (2) In the event of extremely poor weather conditions the courses and distances may be altered. OC1/2 PROGRAM OF EVENTS Please note: All races must start on time. Races will not be delayed for late starters. ALL CANOES MUST HAVE; LEG ROPE, LIFE JACKET paddler to wear (AOCRA approved PFD s) MOBILE PHONE or FLARE (Long Course only) CANOES WILL BE CHECKED PRIOR TO RACING

OC1 & OC2 Short Course Women, Men & Mixed; Briefing: 8.30am Race Start: 9.00 am Distance: 8km The Course will start from the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay and head due east from the starting line towards Jibbon Point. At Jibbon Point an ama turn and head NNE across Bate Bay. AT the turning buoy, perform a 180 degree ama turn and head SW towards Bass and Flinders Point at the mouth of the Port Hacking River. Travel west to the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay, non ama turn and head north to the finish at the Gunnamatta Baths Jetty.

OC1 & OC2 Long Course Women, Men & Mixed; Briefing: 11.30pm am at Gunnamatta Park Race Start: 1.00 2.00pm (dependant on wind forecast) Distance: 19km The participants will enter via the Bonna Point Boat Ramp at the western end of the Kurnell beachfront. Participants will have their canoes scrutinised at this point for the mandatory safety equipment. (Lifejacket, leg rope and Mobile Phone/flare). Participants will paddle at a leisurely pace east towards Captain Cooks Landing Place where the start boat will be positioned. Participants will then paddle east out of Botany Bay past the Kamay Botany Bay National Park to a buoy that will be positioned approximately 1.5k s off shore. At this buoy, a non-ama turn is performed to travel SW towards the mouth of the Port Hacking River at Bass and Flinders Point. At this point they will travel west toward the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay, non-ama turn and travel north to the finish line at the end of Gunnamatta Baths Jetty.

OC6 - SUNDAY 18 th November Utilising the waters of Bate Bay and the Port Hacking River, Port Hacking OCC will be hosting an AOCRA Grand Prix Outrigger Canoe race. These events will include: Junior 3km Short Course 8km (Women s, Men s & Mixed) Long Course 16km (men) 16km (mixed & women) In the event of extremely poor weather conditions the courses and distances may be altered to a suitable format. PROGRAM OF EVENTS Please note: All races must start on time. Races will not be delayed for late starters. ALL CANOES MUST HAVE: STORM COVERS, A SPARE PADDLE 2 BAILERS, 25m TOW ROPE & 6 LIFE JACKETS (AOCRA approved PFDs). CANOES WILL BE CHECKED PRIOR TO RACING OC6 Juniors Briefing: 8.15am Race Start 8.30am Distance 3km OC6 - Men, Women & Mixed Briefing: 9.00am Race start: 9:30am Distance 8km Short Course OC6 Long Course Women & Mixed Briefing: 11:00am Race start: 11:30 Distance: 16km OC6 Long Course Men Briefing: 1:30pm Race start: 2:00pm Distance: 16km

OC6 Juniors Junior Course will start their race from the northern end of Gunnamatta Bay, approx. 50 metres south west of the Ferry cans, travel south towards the start of the channel near the Lugarno Avenue Wharf. They will then arma turn and travel approx. 50 metres east, perform another arma turn and then travel north to finish near the Gunnamatta Baths. They will be under escort at all times.

OC6 Short Course Novice, Women, Men & Mixed Short Course will race from the south end of the bay and heads East towards Jibbon Point. There is an ama turn to head NN/e to the marker that will be east off Shark Island. Ama turn and turn south to Bass and Flinders point, back to the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay, non ama turn and head north towards the Jetty. The Finish is off the jetty at Gunnamatta Park.

OC6 Long Course Women and Mixed The race starts off at the south end of the bay and heads east towards Jibbon point. Ama turn to head NNE towards Boat Harbour, staying insode the breaking waves of Merries Reef. The canoes perform a 180 degree ama turn and head towards Bass and Flinders Point, staying well east of Shark Island keeping Shark Island on the non ama side. Canoes continue west towards southern end of Gunamatta Bay and then perform another non ama turn and head north back up the bay where they will finish adjacent to the Jetty.

OC6 Long Course Men The race starts off at the south end of the bay and heads east towards Jibbon point. Ama turn to head NNE towards Boat Harbour, staying insode the breaking waves of Merries Reef. Alternate Course 1 The race starts at the south end of Gunnamatta Bay and travels east towards Jibbon Point. Ama turn and head north east in the direction of Boat Harbour,. The at the turning buoy, head toward Shark Island. 200 metres before Shark Island Ama turn and head directing toward Jibbon Beach. At Turning buoy Ama turn and again head toward Jibbon Point, turning buoy and then Sharks Island per previous lap. At Shark Island Turning buoy then head back toward Bass and Flinders Point, then to south end of Gunnamatta Bay, then north through channel and return to Gunnamatta Baths

Alternate Course 2 Start at the Southern end of Gunnamatta Bay and travel east towards Jibbon Point. Ama turn 180 degrees and travel west down the bay toward Deeban Spit. The course will then follow the Port Hacking River to Gymea Bay where a turning buoy will be in place. At the buoy 180 degree ama turn and return through the Port Hacking River. At the southern end of Gunnamatta Bay ama turn to travel north into the bay and finish at the Gunnamatta Baths

Male/female toilets are provided in the Park. Parking There is free parking, which surrounds the Park. Vehicles will not be permitted to park in the confines of Gunnamatta Park. Boat Trailer Unloading / Loading OC 6 Trailers will be able to unload in the park and remain there for the duration of the day. Cars are not permitted to park in the grounds of Gunnamatta Park. OC1 unloading/rigging/scrutineering There is ample parking at the Bonna Point Boat Ramp and surrounds. Canoes are to be rigged on the beach front and must be scrutinised before entering the water. First Aid/First Response A Professional Lifeguard will attend the event from the Sutherland Shire Council Lifeguard Service and provide both First Aid and other assistance as required. These personnel are professionally trained in Ocean Rescue, Senior First Aid and will have access to defibrillators if necessary.

How to get there GUNAMATTA PARK: Gunnamatta Park is located behind the Cronulla Train Station. The Park is on Nicholson Parade, Cronulla. As per map below Turn Right off the Kingsway onto Wilbar Avenue, proceed to the Roundabout and turn left onto Croydon Street. Croydon Street turns into Cronulla St. at the train station. Go straight through the roundabout and turn Right onto Nicholson Parade.

KURNELL: Bonna Point Boat Ramp is at the western end of the Kurnell beachfront. Take Captain Cook Drive to Kurnell and at the first roundabout at the intersection of Torres Street turn left. Travel west on Torres Street and at Dampier Street turn right towards the beachfront. At Prince Charles Parade turn left and the boat ramp and launching area is at the end of this roadway.

Racing Division Requirement AGE DIVISIONS 19 years & under must not turn 20 in the Calendar Year of competition 16 years & under must not turn 17 in the Calendar Year of competition 14 years & under must not turn 15 in the Calendar Year of competition 12 years & under. Minnows: must not turn 13 in the Calendar Year of competition 8 years in racing year but no older than 9 years in racing year. All Junior divisions can be any combination of sex. Adult Age Women s Age Men s Age Divisions i. 21 and Under 20 to 21 Inclusive ii. Open Adult age i.e. 20 yrs and above iii. Masters 40 yrs and above 40 yrs and above iv. Senior Masters 50 yrs and above 50 yrs and above v Golden Masters 60 yrs and above 60 yrs and above vi Platinum 70 years and above 70 years and above a) 19U division may compete in adult divisions (21U and Open) without the need for parental or coach Juniors eligibility consent. b) Must be aged 14 yrs and above and vii to compete in have: Adult events i) written parental / guardian permission ii) written approval of qualified outrigger specific coach Mixed crews must have at least 3 women paddlers.

Other regatta rules and competitor information There must be at least 3 teams to constitute a division eligible for medals, prizes or point score. The REGATTA RULES (as amended) of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association Incorporated shall apply. Full details of these rules are available on the website: www.aocra.com.au Club Uniforms are to be worn Only a competitor that is a financial member of a club affiliated with AOCRA Inc. and is a current registered member with AOCRA is eligible to nominate and compete in any event. AOCRA Inc and the Race Director or Race Committee reserve the right to request proof of age or identity (i.e. ID card with photograph) of any competitor. The Race Committee reserves the right to be the arbiter in any dispute regarding eligibility of competitors. The Race Directors decision will be final. Every effort will be made to start races and briefings on time. Races will not be delayed for late starters. In the event of a protest the team lodging the protest will be required to fill in a protest form and provide a $50 surety with the Protest Committee. The Protest Committee will be made up of 3 persons appointed by the Race Director. In the event of the protest being upheld the aggrieved club will receive the $50 surety back. All canoes will be inspected prior to racing and if the required safety equipment is not present, the canoe is not approved by AOCRA or judged unseaworthy then it will not be allowed to compete.
