DIRECTIONS TO BOB THOMAS EQUESTRIAN CENTER Traveling from Tampa, St. Pete, and/clearwater via I-275 to I-4 Eastbound. From I-4 Eastbound, take Exit#6 for Orient Rd. and turn right off the ramp. There will be a sign for the State Fairgrounds entrance immediately on the left hand side. Check in at the Security Guard gate for entry and once on the Fairgrounds, follow the signs. Traveling west from Lakeland and/orlando via I-4. Traveling west on I-4 take I-75 southbound to exit #260 and merge RIGHT onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Going west, pass the light at U.S. Hwy 301 to the next light which is Orient Road. Make a right at Orient Road. There is a sign for the State Fairgrounds entrance on the right-hand side, just before Orient Road changes from two lanes to four lanes. Turn right there and check in at the Security Guard gate for entry and once on the Fairgrounds, follow the signs. Traveling from I-75 North or South(from Ocala or Sarasota areas. THE BAROQUE HORSE FLORIDA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Show Rules, Entry Fees & Stabling Information 1. The 2011 The Baroque Horse Florida State Championship is a US Equestrian (Federation) licensed competition. Every A/L & Friesian class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current Federation rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. The rules of the Federation take precedence over the rules of any other association. Exhibitors are encouraged to obtain the current Federation Rule Book, which is available for $10 (for non- Federation-members) from US Equestrian Federation, 4047 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511, (859) 258-2472. A Federation Steward approved by the Show Committee shall be present to administer these rules at the show. 2. Opportunity Classes: Will be conducted in accordance with USEF rules. There will be no USEF membership requirement for Opportunity Classes. Rules & Specifications for All Breed Opportunity classes are contained in this booklet and also are available at www.horsedigests.com. The Horse Show Executive Committee reserves the right to itself, to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to, or arising out of, or incident to, the show, without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. Any question not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Horse Show Executive Committee, their decision to be final. The Horse Show Executive Committee is to consist of Horse Show Manager, Horse Show Secretary, A/L Representative & Friesian Horse Representative. 5. All entries are accepted with the understanding that The Baroque Horse Florida State Championship and Bob Thomas Equestrian Center will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or any injury to any horse exhibited or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee but solely at the risk of the exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned by him, his agents or employees, or by any animal owned or exhibited by him, and shall indemnify the Federation, Florida State Baroque Horse Championship and Bob Thomas Equestrian Center against any and all loss, damage and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the Show shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth. 6. To be eligible to participate as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above, Dressage Competitions, Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Endurance Rides, Reining Competitions, Para Equestrian Competitions and Vaulting Competitions, persons must be Members of the Federation as provided in Bylaw 201. 7. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 8. All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage incurred by them or their agents to barns or Bob Thomas Equestrian Center properties on the showgrounds and will be billed accordingly. 9. Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters or farm utility vehicles on the competition grouns of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid 8 (Continued)

Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule 10. Management reserves the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or cancel any entries, and to cancel award prizes, without claims for damages; to change any course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes; and to change judges or other officials. Class Schedules The Tentative class schedule is included in this booklet. PLEASE NOTE THE FOL- LOWING: Management reserves the right to adjust the class schedule and class order. If entries warrant, performance may begin earlier or later than published. Please check with the horse show office for each day s final schedule. 11. Class Fees. All classes $15.00. or $75 Super Saver (unlimited classes per horse). 12. Entries: To be accepted, the entry blank must be COMPLETELY filled out and accompanied by a check covering all fees and proof of a negative Coggins Test dated within six months of show dates for each out-of-state horse. In the case of a minor the entry blank must be signed by the parent or guardian. If there is no trainer, the entry blank must be signed by the owner. 13. Closing date: February 5, 2011. Entries must be postmarked by February 5, 2011. 14. Post Entries are accepted with a penalty of $5 per class. 15. Refunds. Entries will only be refunded (less a $25 processing fee) if a Vet Certificate is received within five days of the event. No refunds on stabling fees. If classes are canceled due to severe weather or other emergency, refunds of entry fees will be made upon written request by the exhibitor within 30 days of the cancellation. 16. Federation Fees. For every Andalusian and Friesian horse participating in any competition recognized by the Federation, a $15.00 Federation fee will be collected [($8.00 is for USEF) and ($7.00 shall be a drugs and medications fee to provide for research, inspection and enforcement of rules regarding use of medications and drugs; see Federation GR407.1, 2, 3.)]. 17. Office Fee. There is an Office Fee of $15 per horse. 18. A/L Membership. An IALHA non-member fee of $25 per horse will be assessed if applicable. A/L Non Member Participation. An annual Non Member Participation Fee of $25 per person will be assessed if applicable. 19. Friesian Membership. All owners and horses must be members of IFSHA. All others must either be a member of IFSHA or pay the appropriate non-member fee ($25 adults/$20 juniors). 20. Stalls, whether occupied by horses, feed or tack, will be available for a fee of $50 each for the entire show. (No first bedding). 21. Stall availability. 10 x 10 stalls, with doors, will be available on Monday, February 14, after 2PM. Early Arrivals MUST be pre arranged with Gareth Selwood (262) 325.0283 by February 5, 2011. Class Calls. Due to unforseeable problems with any mechanical device, the PA System and paddock calls must be considered a courtesy. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be sure that his horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. Every effort will be made to maintain a working PA System to carry class calls, however, no protest will be upheld, nor will any class be changed on the basis of PA malfunctions alone. The two minute gate rule will be strictly enforced. The in gate will be closed two minutes after the first horse enters the ring. 24. Food Service. During the competition food service will be provided on the competition grounds. 25. Pony Arena is 200 x 150 and the footing is composed of sand and clay. 26. Horse Show Office will be open Friday, February 14, 2011 from 1 PM to 5 PM. The office will open one hour prior to the first session each day and remain open for 30 minutes after the last class each day. OPPORTUNITY CLASS SPECIFICATIONS Opportunity Walk and Favorite Gait - Amateur - Open to All Breeds. Horses to enter the ring at the walk in a counterclockwise direction. Exhibitors will walk and take their favorite gait both ways of the arena. They are required to halt, stand quietly and back readily. A quiet mouth is imperative. Judged on manners, performance, way of going. Entries may show in other classes at this show. Opportunity Class - Carriage Pleasure Driving Working - Open to All Breeds. To be shown both ways of the ring at a walk, slow trot, working trot and strong trot. Judged: 70% on performance, manners and way of going of the horses; 20% on the condition and fit of harness and vehicle; and 10% on neatness of attire. Opportunity Class - Fine Harness - Open to All Breeds. To be Shown at an Animated walk, park trot, and show your horse both ways of the ring. To stand quietly. Not to back. To be judged on performance, presence, quality, manners, and conformation. Opportunity Classes Halter Open to All Breeds To be judged on conformation, quality, way of going, substance and manners. Opportunity Class English Show Hack Open to All Breeds Horses will enter the ring at the normal trot in a counterclockwise direction. Horses to be shown at a walk, trot, canter (shortened, normal and lengthened) and hand gallop both ways of the arena. Judged on manners, performance, quality and conformation. Opportunity Classes Walk Trot Open or Amateur Open to All Breeds All Riders Horses to enter arena at a walk in a counter clockwise direction. All horses are to be worked at a walk and a trot or jog trot in both directions of the arena. Horses must stand quietly in the lineup. Horses not to be asked to back. Judged on manners, performance, quality and conformation. Same horse/rider combination may not ride in a class which requires a canter. Opportunity Class Dressage Suitability Open to All Breeds Horses to enter the ring at the trot and are shown both ways of the ring at the walk, trot and canter. Exhibitors may be asked to lengthen or shorten strides, walk on a loose rein, halt, stand quietly and back. Horses are judged on gaits, type and correctness, and manners consistent with United States Dressage Federation rules. Opportunity Class Western Pleasure Open to All Breeds To enter the arena at a jog and work both ways of the arena at a walk, jog, lope and hand gallop on a reasonably loose rein. To be judged on performance, manners, quality and conformation. Opportunity Class Hunter Hack Open to All Breeds Horses shall enter at a trot in a counterclockwise direction. Horses shall be shown at the walk, trot, canter, and hand gallop both ways of the arena. No more than 8 horses shall be asked to hand gallop at one time. Horses will then follow the direction of the ringmaster to line up, in preparation for work over fences. Horses may be required to back. Horses shall be required to jump two fences, the first fence to be 2 3 and the second fence to be 2 6. Fences should be set at customary distances apart, using increments of 12. Ground lines at the take-off side of the jumps are required. Horses to perform a hand gallop one way of the ring after the second fence, halt, back, and stand quietly on a loose rein. The pattern or course for the jumping section shall be determined by the competition management or the judge, and will be posted at least one hour prior to the class. Posting the course as early as possible is preferred. A warm-up jump must be provided in the warm-up arena at least 30 minutes before the class. The horse should move freely forward with even, ground covering strides. The horse should exhibit a comfortable, balanced, consistent way of going while maintaining a frame suitable for a hunter. Excessive speed at any gait will be severely penalized. Horses shall be judged 30% on the flat work on the rail. To be judged on performance, manners, quality, and conformation; and 70% on the work over fences including the whole pattern/course. Any faults incurred during the work over fences shall be scored as in a Working Hunter Class. Horses to be judged on performance, manners, type, quality, and conformation.
