1 ARABIAN / HALF-ARABIAN ANGLO-ARABIAN ARHA REINING FUTURITY & MATURITY EVENT TERMS & CONDITIONS SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA This event and competition is for Purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian Futurity and Maturity horses, as herein defined. Together, all of the Futurity and Maturity classes described here shall be known as the ARHA Aged Events. The ARHA Aged Event includes all ARHA Futurity and Maturity classes at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. MEMBERSHIP All membership requirements must be met for entering the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Additional requirements are as follows: FUTURITY: Owner and riders must be 2018 members of the National Reining Horse Association ( NRHA ) and the Arabian Reining Horse Association ( ARHA ). Exhibitors in the Open classes must possess a PROFESSIONALS membership. Memberships can be renewed at NRHA.com, ARHA.net, or at the horse show if necessary. MATURITY: Owners and riders must be 2018 members of the ARHA. The Maturity classes are not NRHA approved and as such will not require any NRHA membership or documentation. ARHA memberships can be renewed at ARHA.net or at the horse show if necessary. EXAMINATION OF ENTRIES & VERIFICATION OF IDENTITIES 1. By enrolling in the ARHA Futurity and/or Maturity the rider and owner(s) grant AHA and ARHA the right to have the entered horse and rider examined or inspected at AHA s or ARHA s instruction for any purpose, including but not limited to the purpose of verifying the entered Horse s identity by AHA officials, staff, or any other persons that the AHA requests to make such examination or inspection. 2. In the event that doubt should arise regarding the identity or eligibility of any horse entered in an ARHA Aged Event, AHA shall make every effort to verify that horse s identity, including but not limited to blood typing or DNA testing. The ARHA Board shall have the right to withhold any prize monies or awards, which would otherwise be due and payable pending the outcome of the investigation to verify a horse s identity or eligibility. In the event the horse s identity or eligibility cannot be satisfactorily verified, no further prize money shall be paid to the parties whose names appears on the horse s entry form. 3. The ARHA Board will advise the AHA recorded owner(s) in writing of any proposal to cancel the entry of a horse or rider and the reasons supporting this proposal. ELIGIBILITY Horses 1. All horses must be registered with the AHA or the IAHA, as appropriate according to AHA rules. 2. Futurity horses must have an NRHA Competition License with the current owner s name listed on it. 3. All horses must be owned by a member of the AHA and ARHA. In addition, owners of horses competing in any ARHA Futurity class must also be members of NRHA (in accordance with NRHA rules of membership). 4. For purposes of these Rules, a horse s age shall be determined by the USEF age standard. Futurity classes are open to horses aged four (4) and five (5) as of January 1, 2018 Maturity classes are open to horses six (6) and older as of January 1, Categories/Riders: 1. Rider eligibility for the Futurity classes will be determined by NRHA rules. Please see their website for clarification on eligibility. 2. Rider eligibility for Maturity classes will be determined by the AHA leveling rules. Please see the AHA website for further clarification.
2 Equipment 1. Futurity horses shall be shown two handed in a legal snaffle or hackamore. 2. Maturity horses shall be shown one handed in any legal bridle. ENTRY FEES 1. All entry fees are final and non refundable. 2. Every horse entered in the Futurity classes will also be charged a $7 NRHA Drug fee. 3. Entries must be made on the official ARHA entry form and include the following items: a. proper entry fee, b. a copy of both sides of the NRHA competition license (for Futurity entries) and AHA or IAHA registration papers (for all entries); c. a copy of current NRHA (for Futurity entries) and AHA membership cards for both owner(s) and rider; and d. a copy of signed release. 4. POST ENTRY FEES WILL BE ACCEPTED ACCORDING TO THE rules set forth by the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. The ARHA will accept late entries for the Aged Events with no penalties beyond the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. ALL POST ENTRY DEADLINES SHALL BE EFFECTIVE AS OF THE DATE OF THE RECEIPT OF ENTRY BY ARHA. 5. Entry fee does not include show entry fees due to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show for concurrent classes, drug fees, and stall fees, as required by the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Entrants are responsible for all fees and additional requirements to enter the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Deadline for Scottsdale Arabian Show is December 15, Please see the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show premium for all requirements and regulations. 6. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show office will not release any back numbers until all paperwork has been completed and submitted to their satisfaction. 7. Substitution of horses is allowed within the parameters of the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. 8. Futurity Entry Fees are as follows (All Futurity classes are NRHA approved): a. $50000 added Half Arabian Open Level 4 $1600 b. $5000 Half Arabian Open Level 1 $600 c. $20000 added Purebred Open Level 4 $1100 d. $2500 Purebred Open Level 1 $ Maturity Entry Fees are as follows (All Maturity classes are NOT NRHA approved): a. $2500 Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian Open $350 b. $1500 Purebred Open $250 c. $750 Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian Intermediate Open $125 d. $750 Purebred Intermediate Open $125 e. $2500 added Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian or $2500 Purebred Non Pro $350 f. $1000 added Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian or $1000 Purebred Intermediate Non Pro $200 g. $750 added Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian or $750 Purebred Limited Non Pro $125 h. Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian or Purebred Rookie Non Pro $75 i. $500 added Half-Arabian Anglo-Arabian or $500 Purebred Primetime Non Pro $100 CLASS EXECUTION 1. Horses are required to show by the same standards and rules of NRHA and USEF, as would be appropriate in the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show Reining classes. 2. There will be a three-judge system utilized. The judges will be placed at different points around the arena. The total of the three scores will be used to determine the final score.
3 3. In the event of a tie following the finals, the following order of tie breaking procedures will apply: A runoff; and then, If a tie still exists, the exhibitors will be named co-champions. 4. The class shall name a Champion, Reserve Champion, and place the rest of the class in order of finish through tenth (10th place) or less according to these Rules. 5. Tack and appointments will be checked by the NRHA Steward in all classes. All rules not covered herein will be subject to the prevailing rules set forth by the current USEF rule book (USEF Article 2, No. 1). 6. All reining horses will be videotaped; videotape may be used by the judges to review runs. 7. Patterns have been predetermined and are located in the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show premium book. 8. Futurity classes are made up of one go and a clean slate final. To be eligible to compete in the final, the competitor must compete in the first go. The score from the first go will determine who qualifies for the final. a. For a class where ten or less horse shows, all horses will advance to the final b. For a class with horses, the top ten (and ties) will advance to the final c. For a class with 31 or more horses, the top 30% will advance to the final. CLASS CONFLICT A class conflict is defined as an exhibitor who has a class in which they have to exhibit a horse in another ring at the same time as their draw order in the reining pen or as a horse who must be exhibited in another ring at the same time as its draw in the reining pen. The procedure for declaring a potential conflict is as follows: Exhibitor/Agent must contact ARHA manager or ARHA reining show secretary within 2 hours of the posted draw. Exhibitor draw will move to top of posted reining go order. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS 1. Entries to be Shown and Judged under the class specifications set forth in both the NRHA handbook and Reining section of the USEF Rule Book. PRIZE MONEY & PAY OUT PROCEDURES 1. Prize money will be paid to the AHA Owner of the Horse. 2. Checks for prize money shall be mailed within 45 days after completion of the show. 3. No checks will be paid out to exhibitor, rider, or owner unless they have provided reining show secretary with a correct social security number or tax ID number. LIMIT OF LIABILITY 1. The AHA, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show Committee, members of the ARHA Board, its directors, officers, employees, representatives, and agents will attempt to obtain true and complete information in connection with the registration of horses, transfers, and all other matters relating to the AHA, Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, and ARHA Board activities. Neither the AHA, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, or the ARHA Board members, its directors, officers, employees, representatives, nor agents shall be liable in any way, whether in damages or otherwise in connection with entry, refusal of entry or transfer, cancellation of entry, the operation or administration of the event, or for any other activities engaged in by, or on behalf of the AHA, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, or the ARHA Board in connection with the event. 2. Participants in the ARHA classes or events agree that damages for any successful claims against the AHA, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, or the ARHA Board which are based upon the way a class is run, the judging thereof, the scheduling, or the interpretation of the applicable rules shall be limited to the liquidation damages in the amount of the entry fees actually paid by claimant.

If, notwithstanding the release signed by a participant in the program and the limitations of liability contained herein, any liability to a participant should arise on the part of AHA, the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show or ARHA Board, such liability shall be limited as liquidated damages, to the amount equal the entry fees actually paid by the claimant. DISPUTE RESOLUTION & AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES 1. In the event that a dispute or issue should arise regarding the implementation of the ARHA Aged Event program or event which cannot be resolved solely by reference to these rules or which requires that they be interpreted, the dispute or issue shall be resolved by decision of the ARHA Board, upon written petition submitted by an interested party to the ARHA Board.. All decisions by the AHRA Board on disputes or issues raised under the provision of this section shall be consistent with the purpose of the ARHA Aged Event rules and shall be final. Written notice of the decision of the AHRA Board, stating the basis for the decision, shall be sent to the petitioning party. 2. The ARHA Board may amend the rules from time to time, as it deems appropriate. 3. Recovery of Futurity or Maturity prize money or awards wrongfully received: If in accordance with application protest or disciplinary procedures of AHA, USEF, or ARHA, a determination by any of these entities establishes, expressly or implicitly, that a person or horse was not qualified to participate in the Futurity or Maturity classes and that prize money or awards were received, all such money and awards shall be refunded to the ARHA Board within thirty (30) days after the written demand is made by the ARHA Board. In the event that the ARHA Board is required to refer any such matter for collection to an attorney, collection agency, or to institute legal proceedings, the ARHA board shall, in addition to the prize money or awards wrongfully received, be entitled to recover the interest at a rate of 12% per annum compounded annually from the date the money was received, as well as costs of collection, including reasonable attorney and collection agency s fees, from the person receiving said money or awards.

6 ARHA ENTRY AGREEMENT All entries to the Arabian Reining Horse Association ( ARHA ) Futurity and Maturity Reining events are accepted by ARHA with the understanding that ARHA will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any horse exhibited or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee of the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show and the show officials of ARHA but solely at the risk of the exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animals or property occasioned by him, his agents or employees, or by any animal owned or exhibited by him, and shall indemnify ARHA against any and all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including, but not limited to, any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. Exhibitors, grooms, handlers, owners, etc. are hereby warned that they may not use any device or conduct which may cause harm to any other person(s), horses, or equipment.
