MAY NEWSLETTER & LATEST NEWS Hello Escondido Soccer Club and FC Heat families, In this edition of the newsletter you will find quite a lot of information that you may need to review more closely. All of this is available on our Websites: FCHeat.org and EscondidoSoccerClub.com. New Frontiers for FC Heat.. When the Chinese WNST met the US WNST in the World Cup Final in 1999, the game made history. It was a game played in front of 90,000 fans and 11.4 million more on the ESPN network, in what still remains the largest crowd ever to watch a women's sporting event, both at the field and in the media. Back in 1971 the exchange of ping pong players between the USA and
China, led to a visit by then President Nixon to Beijing in China. This opened the door and paved the way to new formal foreign relations between China and the USA, which later led to the building of embassies in Beijing and Washington DC respectively. FC Heat could now well become a part of history too as we are in talks with members and representatives of the Chinese government to allow at least one FC Heat team to visit China this year. Hopefully in the not too distant future, a boys team and a girls team will be making this trip annually. We in turn would plan on hosting players from China to take part in our own tournaments. For 2015, the requested and invited team is for a boys tournament high bracket in the BU15 age group. Dalian is known as 'Soccer City' and hosts at least one tournament there every year. Soccer in China is part of the national curriculum at schools. Sponsorship is a big part of being able to send club teams to foreign countries, so if you or your company are interested in this type of sponsorship, contact Steve Yorke our Director of Coaching and Communications. By sponsoring a non profit organization such as ours, the donors would have 100% tax deduction. Our initial plans for this year's travelling team is to have shirts made with sponsors names on them. All of the games in China are televised on national TV, so imagine the exposure a company would have by having their name on our shirts. Stay tuned to our newsletter and Websites for latest developments!

RECREATIONAL TRYOUTS The month of June is where it all begins for the Recreational season. We begin with tryouts, coach selection, drafting and team selection. The cut off registration date is June 30, 2015, so you must be signed up by this date. To take part in our recreational program as a player, you must attend one of our tryouts either on June 13, 2015 or on June 27, 2015. These tryouts are for players aged U9 through U14. Younger players do not need to tryout and players older than U14 will be allocated teams without a tryout. Please see this link for the 2015 16 Age Matrix: http://esc rec.storage.googleapis.com/2015 16 AGE MATRIX.pdf Please read the flyer below for your tryout time. Tryouts will be conducted by both Heat coaches and Recreational coaches where players are assessed in a group environment, taking part in exercises, activities and scrimmages. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to your age group tryout time, which are clearly stated on the flyer. These times maybe slightly different from when the flyer was previously advertised, so please double check your time. If you are interested in coaching Recreational soccer this year please contact our Director of Recreation, Jessica Escobedo and she will give you more information. Coaching these children is so rewarding both to the players and the coaches, and it is a great stepping stone in taking your coaching further. Indeed two of last year's Rec coaches have stepped into competitive and one more is improving his licensing to do the same. Remember too, that if you do coach this year you will need to attend the tryout dates to assess players for your teams. For those of you who may be on the fence about coaching this year, we have made quite a few changes to help you all. Starting with the tryouts; making them less stressful on the kids and coaches, then the draft, making it so we have more even teams, and last but not least, with the coaches. All Heat coaches are willing to work with any Recreational coach that needs assistance, all you have to do is ask and we will be there. For help with your practice lesson plans, we have constructed a helpful Website that will assist you in putting together fun, exciting and efficient sessions.

Dates of this tournament are June 20th and June 21st, 2015 It appears now that there is a waiting list in some of the brackets, but for more information contact Toni DeCarlo. The Dave Shelton Memorial Cup As early as 1966, one of our founding fathers, Dave Shelton along with his wife Linda, were recognized by California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA), they received the CYSA Lifetime Honorees Award for their outstanding contributions to youth soccer in our district. Unfortunately Dave passed away on October 28th, 1999. Dave Shelton is also recognized today in our home tournament 'The Dave Shelton Cup.'
