When I look back, I can hardly believe that we are in July already. We have had some wonderful events these past months at the club. Starting with June 16th our Sailing Run/Chili event. I want to thank the sailing committee for hosting this event. It was a great turnout with hopes to have another in the future gaining more racers. I want to thank you for resurrecting the racing aspect of our club. Your hard work and dedication to keep sailing and boats a part of our club in ways such as this, are commendable. You have a great group with lots of energy. We are looking forward to good things ahead. Fourth on the Shore. This is one of our biggest events at the club and it takes quite a bit of planning to make it successful, and this year was a success. The day was beautiful, the beer was cold, the food was amazing and the bands were loud. Everyone seemed to have a great time, for there were many still hanging out well into the evening. This whole event though could not be possible without all the help from our volunteers. Everyone who signed up to help, was there for their shifts, on time, eager to pitch in. It was seamless and so efficient. I cannot thank you enough. By Jul and Aug Calendars Upcoming Events Children s Christmas party, decorating of the club making it look so festive at Christmas, and the time spent planting the flowers during the summer months. Your group has donated many things to the club with the money you have raised. (high chairs, silverware, tablecloths, chairs/ tables Christmas trees). I could go on and on. You are an amazing group. We are very fortunate to have you!! volunteering it demonstrates your commitment to the club and your willingness to work for the betterment of the club. Volunteers are some of the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain love to help people out. We could not have done it without you!!! I also want to take this time to thank Ladies of the Yacht ClubMany people do not know how much you do for the club, for instance: sending floral gifts to families of the club where loved one s are ill or have passed away, donating of gifts at Christmas time to the needy families, putting on the Every new Waves contains calendar of events and all the committee meetings are listed. If you want to get involved, come to a committee meeting. No reservation required. You will be welcomed. Get involved with whatever interests you, but above all else, have fun! Paula The most important part of our club is our members. We are blessed with a great community. NOTE: July 17thBoard meeting 6:00 membership 7:00 (this was moved up a week due to schedules.)

Thanks to all who come to the club and enjoy it. Manitowoc Yacht Club s Chili Cup Sailing Rally was a great success with 10 sailing yachts competing for the coveted trophy. The winner was Manitowoc Yacht Club member Mark Mahowald aboard Strider a 47foot Beneteau. If you have any needs or questions, contact me at 920905-1650. Jim The following observations by long-time club member and former Commodore Ron Stokes are worth noting: Saturday, June 16th, 2018 was a great day at the Manitowoc Yacht Club! Sailing returned to the yacht club. Fleet Captain, Randal Burnett and wife Selena along with the hard working members of the sailing committee sponsored and Reminder: The club alarm system activates daily at 2am. Another photo on page 3. organized the event which combined our club and the Maritime Yacht Club. Ten boats crewed by over 30 sailors raced the triangular course. After the race a chili and potato meal was served and the trophy and flags were presented to the top finishers in each division. Over 60 people ate dinner. The race unfolded about a half mile offshore of the club and was followed by spectators on the patio. It was good to see the veteran yacht club sailors in the crews! A few of the veterans, many of them past commodores were Jerry Hein, Bob Krowiorz, Dave Wilhelm, Tracy Virnoche, and Dean Rosinsky. Now power boaters, lets see if you can get a flotilla of boats on the water. The yacht club needs it. Thanks goes out to all our members who worked so hard to make this event a success.

Page Page 5 5 History of the Manitowoc Yacht Club I thought it would be interesting to show the members what we were serving 30 years ago (1988) at the club comparable to today. Not much has changed other than the prices. Inflation and the rising costs of meat and fish contribute to the rising costs, however, you cannot, still to this day, beat the cost for the amount of food you get, not to mention how delicious everything tastes. We really have a gem of a place for our members to dine. He was my mentor and great friend. My actual membership started in 2015. Joe Trader was my sponsor. It is exciting and fun being a member of the Club. Because of my involvement, I have met many new friends. Jan has done so many things at the club. You can find her attending monthly steak nights as one of our "50/50 ticket gals". She also helps Jim Kocian out, quite a bit, getting prep work done for the Friday night dining. We are very blessed to have such a wonderful member in our club. Thanks for all you do Jan!!!
