All classes are open to Members and Non-Members of TREC GB but only paid up members will have their scores for affiliated classes count toward the TREC GB Winter Leagues. Classes 2, 3, 5 and 6 will also count towards the WHTG members 2017-2018 winter league. This new league is open to all members and all scores classes with 10 obstacles and a control of paces count. The average of, up to, your three best scores will be taken across the season. Classes are likely to be run in order stated unless entry numbers dictate otherwise. 1. Unaffiliated In-Hand This class is open to any horse and Handler combination for horse over 4 years. It will comprise of 10 obstacles all to be tackled in-hand. 2. Unaffiliated Starter This class is aimed at those with little TREC experience, obstacles will be set at their easiest level and assistance to find the next obstacle can be asked for in this class. The MA/Control of Paces will be slow TROT and fast walk. Lead reins and some outside assistance allowed. Open to RIDERS that have not been placed 1 st in two or more NEWCOMER or NOVICE RIDER classes, or to have won an Intermediate or an Open class at WINTER TREC Competitions prior to 1 st October 2017. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 1. 3. Affiliated NEWCOMER Open to RIDERS that have not been placed 1 st in two or more NEWCOMER or NOVICE RIDER classes, or to have won an Intermediate or an Open class at WINTER TREC Competitions prior to
1 st October 2017. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 1 4. Unaffiliated Take your own Line Open to any horse and rider combination. The obstacles can be ridden more than once, however, no obstacle can be re-ridden immediately after it is finished. Each rider will have 3 minutes to complete as many obstacles as possible. Obstacles must be ridden in the direction of the flags. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 1 or 2. 5. Affiliated INTERMEDIATE Horse and rider combination not to have been placed 1st in two or more INTERMEDIATE classes, or to have won an Open class at WINTER TREC competitions prior to 1st October 2017. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 2/3 6. Affiliated OPEN Open to all horses and riders. PTV obstacles equivalent to Level 3/4 Each of the TREC GB league classes 3, 5 and 6 (above) will have their own national league. League points will be awarded depending on finishing position: 10 points for 1 st down to 1 point for 10 th place. The highest four scores will be counted for the league. In the event of equal positions after 4 events the position at a fifth event will be taken into account. If still equal the TOTAL actual PTV scores (from 4 events) will be taken into account. In the event of equality the highest score from PTV will take precedence. RULES AS PER THE TREC GB RULEBOOK AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM WWW.TRECGB.COM 1. Competitions are open to all horses and ponies providing that they are a minimum of 4yrs of age. 2. Riders any age, juniors may ride horses and seniors may ride ponies. 3. No rider will be permitted to start any phase of the event unless wearing a hard hat, which meets current standard recommended by the BHS e.g. PAS 015,or ASTMF 1163 and bearing kite mark or SEI that is properly fitted and fastened with a chinstrap. See below*** 4. Riders may choose to wear a body protector during any phase of the competition. If worn, Beta 3 standard is strongly recommended. 5. Tack & dress informal but safe. Riders must wear suitable riding footwear. 6. Standing Martingales and other fixed reins are forbidden. If a running martingale is used, horse must be led from head collar and lead rope for led PTV obstacles. 7. Whips must not exceed 75cms. Spurs, if worn, must be rounded, not exceeding 3.5cms in length and pointed downwards. 8. The judges and official s decision is final and must be complied with at all times. Uncorrected error on PTV course will result in a ZERO score for the PTV. Elimination may result for any of the following reasons: Excessive use of whip, Abusive language, Dangerous riding, 9. No horse or pony may compete more than once in any affiliated class.
***PLEASE NOTE THAT HATS THAT ARE STANDARD EN 1384 ONLY CAN NO LONGER BE USED IN A TREC COMPETITION. Hats as stated above are acceptable. Check the rulebook for full list There will be no fixed obstacles, so the use of body protectors is not mandatory, however we do encourage their use. TREC is a great sport that any horse /pony and rider can enjoy. Arena TREC events are run during the winter months in an arena, which can be indoors or outdoors, with no ride or POR, just a shortened course of obstacles (also known as PTV) and Control of Paces (MA). TREC is a good way to get horses and ponies of all ages and sizes used to a variety of obstacles which can help towards whatever discipline you do with your four-legged friends. It is a very friendly sport with plenty of guidance on hand during the day to help you if it s your first time. The MA Phase or (Control of paces) demonstrates the control and obedience of the horse. The MA takes place over 50m to 150m. Each section being awarded 50% of the points accrued via the sliding scale, look up tables. The PTV course of 10 obstacles, simulated to represent those you might meet out hacking, designed to test the riding skills, the training of your horse and the accord between you. Further details can be found in the British TREC Rule Book 3rd Edition - www.trecgb.com/rulebook The competition is to be held at the Askham Byram Equine College, York, YO23 3FR with easy access off the A64. There is ample parking and a café on site for refreshments, they are opening for us so please do support them. Please could we ask that you ensure you park considerately and clean up after your horses. Taking all hay and droppings home with you. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Warm up arena will be indoors adjacent to the competition.
