As we approach the first of November I have yet to see a black frost. It will come. Thanks to Joe Marino and Charlie Bauder for their work in putting together the trip to the Northeast Classic Car Museum. It was a great trip and everyone I have talked with has given it rave reviews. For those who are not familiar with the workings of the Museum, like most other successful museums, their displays change from time to time. To anyone who says I ve seen that museum, unless you visit at least once a year, you will miss some beautiful vehicles. That being said, they are planning a cars of the 70 s themed display for next year. I had the privilege of talking with Steve Littlefield, one of the few paid staff members, and he shared a request from the Museum with me. I asked him to please send me the information in an E-mail so I could get it correct when I presented it to our members and friends. I have merged his E-mails and they appear on page 4. Please note, there is no requirement for membership in AACA or any other group to be considered for having your car on display for this exhibit. I am asking everyone to please read Steve s correspondence then share it with anyone they think might be able to help the Northeast Classic Car Museum. Anyone fortunate enough to have their car selected can consider themselves honored and will automatically receive great bragging rights. NEWSLETTER EDITORS Looking ahead, we are rapidly approaching our annual ham dinner Brenda & Dick Stearns and Club elections. The traditional format applies, bring a dish to 4605 North Road. Canandaigua, NY 14424 pass and your own place settings. We will be electing officers and 585-230-5035 board members. rstearn1@rochester.rr.com 1 Continued on page 5

Of Interest all Wayne Drumlins Members and Friends Dear Mr. Stearns: I hope that you and the other members of the Wayne Drumlins Antique Auto Club enjoyed your visit to the North East Classic Car Museum. The Exhibit Committee is planning one of next year's exhibits to be of cars from the 1970's. It's hard to believe that they are classics. We would like to invite any members of the Wayne Drumlins club who has a stock American car from that era to submit it to the exhibit committee for consideration to be included in the exhibit. Exhibit cars should be show quality or near show quality. We are specifically looking for a Pinto, Vega, Gremlin and Pacer, but other makes and models are desired as well. The exhibit will run from May 24, 2019 thru late May of 2020. The exhibit cars will be kept in a temperature controlled and secure location. Volunteer staff maintain security during operating hours, although the visitors of the museum are generally older adults and are almost universally respectful of the exhibits. Owners of accepted exhibit cars receive a year's family membership and can visit their cars at any time during business hours. Volunteers will occasionally dust the cars and maintain tire pressure as needed. The museum is a non profit organization that has paid staff, but is generally volunteer run. The exhibit committee will review all submissions for the exhibit and make invitations to selected car owners. The committee hopes to make all of its selections by the end of December for the Spring show. Would you kindly put a request for cars in your newsletter? If you know anyone outside of the club with a clean '70's car, we encourage those owners to apply. You or club members may contact me with questions. Those interested in submitting a car for consideration may send pictures and a general description of the car to me. I will gladly forward the message to other members of the exhibit committee. Thank you for your support of our next exhibit. As you can imagine, show quality '70's cars aren't all that easy to find. Maybe for good reason. But all of us owned and drove them and they do have a place in automotive history. I imagine that many people who found '70's cars to love have been apologizing for it to other car lovers for a long time. Now is their chance to come out and celebrate by placing their cars in our exhibit. It was great fun having the chance to talk with members of your club. I'm glad that you guys had a good time too. I hope that you will visit the museum again soon. We would love to see you back. Sincerely, Steve Littlefield Northeast Classic Car Museum 24 Rexford street Norwich, NY 13815 607-334-2886 sflittle@citlink.net 4

President s Message continued from page 1 Nominations for all open positions will be accepted from the floor. Don t be bashful, we need to be able to fill all the positions as specified in our AACA charter. Joe Marino is working on the plans for our Year End Banquet and will present his recommendations at our dinner for approval. Once he has the go ahead, he will make the necessary reservations for us. At this time, there are no formal plans for a Christmas party. If anyone has a suggestion, and is willing to step forward, I am sure our members will be very appreciative. It can be a simple dinner or whatever else you come up with. Maybe we would like to do something like last year with selecting names from an Angel Tree for gifts to children in need. Please give some thought to what, if anything, you would like to have the Club do for the holidays. Depending on what is decided, this can affect our December meeting so we need to reach some sort of consensus. See you at the Ham Dinner. Stan Herdman s 1910 Chase Model D truck, made in Syracuse, NY, is on display in the made in New York room at the Northeast Classic Car Museum. 5

Left: Steve Heald proudly poses with his 1908 Mora. The Mora was built in Newark, New York, and is on display in the made in New York section of the Museum. This very rare car remains much as Steve found it other than some very serious rebuilding of the motor. The car was retired many years ago due to a rod going through the side of the crank case. Today, the car is drivable. Right: Steve discusses some of the features of his Mora. With some careful detective work, Steve has determined that the car was originally painted blue with a blue top. Today s apparent colors are the result of over a hundred years of ageing. The aluminum hood had lost most of it s paint prior to Steve s acquisition of the car. Left: After an enjoyable day at the Museum, a delicious catered lunch that was more like a dinner, and a stop in the gift shop, we are ready to board the bus for our ride back to Geneva. 6

1972 Chevrolet Caprice Classic convertible Owner Matt Canavan The Caprice was found at Benton Motors in Penn Yan of all places, long before I knew Mike Race from the car club. I was looking for the biggest convertible I could find. It is a California car with no rust, but it does have a 454 under the hood, Cover photo giant four barrel and big duals. This thing was deceptively very fast. But when I ordered a 2015 Mustang, something had to go, and the Chevy found a new home in Philadelphia with a guy who had one just like it in his younger days. Editor s notes: I am in desperate need of photographs for our back cover. I know there are several delightful vehicles amongst our members, either previously owned or current residents in your garage, most any one of which would make an outstanding subject for the cover. If you have a good color print, I can scan it and return it to you. Digital shots are very acceptable and can be E mailed to me. In either case, a brief write-up, or at least some of the particulars, about the subject needs to be included. If you don t have a good image of your special ride, get together with me and I will meet you and your pride and joy and take the pictures for you. Should the latter be the case, I can provide you with a 8½ X 11 photographic print suitable for framing and hanging on your wall should you wish. Please help me out here. 7
