PRE BECAUSE NICE MATTERS WEEK SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Wednesday, September 19 th : Great Oak High School: Art students painting a TVUSD bus black and purple with the phrase Because Nice Matters along with peace signs, flowers, etc. The bus will travel to different schools as a good-will ambassador during Because Nice Matters week. Because Nice Matters Art/Graphic Design Contest Begins. Winning Posters will be displayed on the Because Nice Matters Bulletin Board. Have students wear them all week to remind them to be nice to others Students sign Because Nice Matters Pledge banner at lunch Staff wears kindness buttons in anticipation of Friday s Assembly The Pledge Student Council to wear special clothes pins and give them to students who demonstrate acts of niceness and kindness on campus. The students receiving the clothes pins will be asked to pass it on to other students demonstrating acts of niceness and kindness. Student Council Students will also wear special buttons with a heart and the phrase Because Nice Matters all week
Gardner Middle School Teachers will show a video on kindness and discuss with classes A door decorating contest begins with the theme of Because Nice Matters. The door will be judged and a winner will be announced on Friday. Teachers will be given pictures of other Because Nice Matters Doors to show students. Because Nice Matters posters will be displayed around the campus. Students wear favorite ARES shirt to show pride Lunch activity students pledge not to bully with their handprint & signature on a banner Crowne Hill Elementary: Bookmarks to all students, with pointers on how to deal with Bullying Nicolas Valley Elementary: Anti-Bullying quotes on announcements Spellman Magic Anti-Bullying assembly Chains with purple and black paper Teachers read literature in class to launch discussions about kindness, caring and being aware of others feelings Students wear bracelets and bring in signed pledge. Classrooms can read the donated copies of Freda the Ferret and Billy the Bully Goat (books written by 4th Grade Teacher, David Yorke dealing with bullying at school). Wednesday, September 26 th : Team Up Against Bullying Dress-up for Twin Day with your friends and play M&M fun at lunch Gardner Middle School: Teachers will conduct the crinkled paper activity in advisement. Students will use a clean piece of paper, then crinkle it. The crinkles represent the permanent scars from unkind words or actions.

Classroom Activity students make a Chain of Kindness Temecula Middle School Read articles about the effects of bullying Nicolas Valley Elementary Compliment Day (teachers will receive an assortment of colored dots, each student gets a dot, they must compliment people all day who have their colored dot) Bullying Quote on announcements Friendship Day: Grade levels organize collaborative activity (i.e. P.E. game, art project, cultural dance, etc.) Students: Wear bracelets and work on classroom posters Thursday, September 27 th : ALL SCHOOLS: BLACK & PURPLE DAY Students wear black and purple to symbolize the internal and psychological bruising we take when someone tries to make us feel less than we really are In addition to wearing Black & Purple: Temecula Valley High School: Students receive anti-bullying sticker- encouraged to wear it to the Homecoming football game the following night Play Pass The Dot at lunch
Gardner Middle School: There will be a 'Pledge not to Bully' giant banner for students to sign somewhere on campus. Advisement doors will be judged. The winner be will announced the following week. Temecula Middle School: Pledge chain: Students sign their name to a piece of white paper to signify their commitment to No Bullying. Chain will be displayed on campus. Lunch Activity sidewalk chalk outlines of hand & feet Teachers read The Juice Box Bully & review W.I.T.S. Crowne Hill Elementary: Introduce purple "Nice Notes" that we will use all year for students to write about something that someone did that was nice to them. We will have a board in the front office to display them.
