2 Freshman Orientation Day Wednesday, August 22 It s August 22 nd So get on your way Hop on the bus It s Freshman Orientation Day! Walk into school And meet your FMPs Go take your ID picture Smile big, and say cheese! Welcome to the Spirit Factory Get your sweet tooth ready Willy Wonka is on his way Homecoming already?! We re so excited that you re here Get ready for the first day of an amazing year!
3 What is FMP FMP is Stevenson s Freshman Mentor Program It is also recognized as our Friendly Meeting Place. Each freshman is assigned to an advisory with 3-5 dedicated junior and senior mentors: your FMPs! Your FMPs will help make your transition to Stevenson smooth and stress free. We re here to make your Freshman year at Stevenson an amazing experience. Your advisory will meet during half of your lunch period Monday through Thursday each week. In advisory we will do a variety of activities to help you get better acclimated to Stevenson. Advisory will also give you the opportunity to build relationships with your peers, FMPs, faculty advisory, school counselor, dean, and social worker. Your FMPs will keep you informed about school events and the amazing opportunities at Stevenson. Your FMPs will help you become familiar with the policies and traditions at Stevenson, but more importantly your FMPs will become your friend! On Freshman Orientation Day
4 Transportation: **We highly recommend you ride the bus: We guarantee this bus ride will be incredible. There will be FMPs on the bus to assist you. If you are unsure of which bus stop you are assigned to, refer to the Bus Information on the Incoming Freshman link ( bus_information.aspx). Walk/Be driven to school: There will be members of Stevenson s Council 100 waiting at all of the school entrances to greet you and guide you to the Sports Center. Your first day at Stevenson will start out by -Arriving at Stevenson via bus/walking/dropped off -Go to the Sports Center to pick up your schedule -Go to your assigned advisory classroom to meet your FMPs, faculty advisor, school counselor, and peers -Receive textbooks and Student Guidebook (assignment notebook with list of rules & regulations) in your advisory classroom -Attend the Welcome Pep Assembly in the PAC (Performing Arts Center) with your advisory classroom and FMPs -You will tour the school with your FMPs -Your FMPs will then help you find and open your locker -You will meet your school guidance counselor and dean -You will eat lunch (food will be available for purchase) -You will go through a mini-class schedule to meet your teachers and classmates (until 3:25 pm)
5 Meet your Freshman Orientation Day Guest Speaker ( Welcome Pep Assembly ): Eddie Slowikowski What to Bring: Backpack, pens, pencils and a notebook: As you go through your mini schedule, teachers will tell you about their class and what supplies you will need for each class. A positive attitude and ease of mind: If you have any questions or concerns at all, ask an FMP; they will be glad to help. Pictures -If your ID picture was taken over the summer during summer school, it will be in the envelope you receive from the Sports Center when you arrive at Stevenson. -If you did NOT get an ID picture taken over the summer, you will have it taken in the Testing Center (Room ) during the tour with your FMPs. -Yearbook pictures will be taken Thursday, August 23 rd during your gym class. -If you are in Dance or Band, your pictures will be taken on Friday, August 25 th.
6 P.E. Uniforms -P.E. uniforms should be ordered online when you register for school -They will be distributed during your gym period on Thursday, August 23 rd -If you did not order them online, then you can still purchase the uniform in the Super Store. The Super Store is located in the Wood Commons. Freshman Mixer! Look forward to the Freshman Mixer on August 31. It is an amazing opportunity to get to know your peers that you ll be spending the next four years with. This is a Freshman only Mixer, but your senior FMPs will be there! Get ready for a party! Snacks will be provided! The dance is free! All you need to do is bring your student ID card. Drop off and pickup is at the Sports Center, Parking Lot E.
7 Stevenson Homecoming 2012 Willy Wonka and The Spirit Factory Take in the sweet smell of Homecoming week! September 15 th -September 22 nd There will be: dress up days, advisory door decorating contests, homecoming pep assembly, Rally in the Ally event, football game and THE HOMECOMING DANCE! Homecoming Spirit Week kicks of with Spirit Fest on September 15 th with games, music, a 5k walk, an attempt to make a new Guinness World Record, and the highly anticipated fireworks display!
