Top of the Hunt Series rugs will be awarded to the horse/rider combination scoring the most points over the three events. A junior and senior Top of the Hunt winner will be awarded! All riders are eligible to be part of the Top of the Hunt Series and there are no extra entry charges to be part of the series. Event Steward: Jacinta Withoud Please Note - This event is a non-sanctioned PCAWA Event. This Hunter Trials event will be run under the PCAWA Eventing Rules Feb 2014 as well as amendment s as per the HPC Eventing Committee. Entering this event constitutes implicit acceptance of the PCAWA rules. All competitors are ultimately responsible for knowing these rules and complying with them. PCAWA gear checking rules apply. Horses must be four years of age or more to enter this event. Riders must be 8yrs of age as of the 1 st of January 2014. Cross Country Course Horsemens grounds are sandy, bush course surrounded by native plants with the possibility of kangaroos!, The C, D and E courses are very encouraging for young or inexperienced horse and rider combinations and the B grade is quite challenging. Cross Country Section: Normal Cross Country penalties will apply to this section. Please note Optimum Times are not published for this event. In the case of a tie closest to the optimum time will be the winner. An allowed early time of one (1) second is made. Points will be awarded as follows per round: Place Per Round 1 10 2 9 3 8 4 7 5 6 6 5 Completed 4 No points are awarded for non-competitive Pairs! A rider that misses any element, any obstacle, any jump or exceeds the allowable time for the grade.course, round will not score any points for that particular round! Any rider that falls from their mount will also not score any points for that particular round.
To be deemed eligible for the series - the same horse rider combination must attend all 3 events. Series rugs will be awarded to only the highest point s scorer. 2 series rugs will be awarded for each. 1 rug will be awarded the rider with the most points 17 years & over (age as of 1 st of Jan 2014) and 1 rug will be awarded the rider with the most points under 16 years of age & under( age as of 1 st of Jan 2014). In the event of a tie the competitor that has the closest optimum time of the accumulated 6 rounds will be deemed the winner. Event Rules: The cross country will be conducted under Pony Club Rules. Entering this event constitutes implicit acceptance of the PCAWA rules. All competitors are ultimately responsible for knowing these rules and complying with them. Competitors HOWEVER are welcome to continue to the next obstacle. Should riders decide to proceed, they do so at their own risk. They must clear the way for oncoming riders and obey all orders from officials (if given). More specific details will be included on the back of the course map provided on the day. Non Competitive Pairs: As part of our club tradition Hunter Trials has always run a round of pairs. This year is no different but this part of the event will be run as a non-competitive round. This round is over and above the normal 2 rounds per horse/ rider combination and is run time permitting and competitor interest. ENTRY FEE (allows 2 rounds per horse and rider combination) All entries MUST have the PCAWA disclaimer statement signed and forwarded with this entry form. A separate entry form is required for each rider/horse combination Medical armbands are compulsory. Riders must have approved competitor number holders /bibs All horses must have a saddle cloth or bridle number in addition to rider number No watches or timing equipment to be worn on course. Competitors are NOT permitted to receive any form of unauthorised assistance, especially coaching when in difficulty. Should a competitor fall (this includes an unscheduled dismount as there are areas on course the competitor may be asked to dismount) and/horse fall on course, the rider will be immediately eliminated and requested to leave the course on foot at a walk. The rider must be accessed by the appointed medical officer upon leaving the course. Skills Section (included in Cross Country): Will be judged against the clock and MAY include obstacles such as a water course, gate to open and shut, slip-rail to remove, lead through, replace and remount, a cow paddock, a ramp and walk section, a traffic hazard. Penalties will be incurred for failure to negotiate these obstacles.

Note: Class sizes will be limited and classes will close when full. This event has been limited to a total of 140 horses only. ENTRIES Entries are open on K-Trials. Payment is via Direct Deposit. If no entry fee is received within 24hrs of entry on K-Trials - your entry will be void. Remember NO PAYMENT means NO START Email and telephone entries not accepted. All competitors must nominate a helper over 17 years of age, one rider one helper; helpers nominated for more than one rider will get an extended duty. Entries without nominated helpers will not be accepted. Nominated helpers cannot be riding at this event. SELF HELP Sorry - the self-help option is not available for this event! Due to the complexity of running an XC Event unless people help to run the event we cannot hold the event and meet all the safety requirements stipulated. By HPC not offering self-help means we can keep the entry costs lower. A lack of helper s means we have to pay for external event staff and that will force us to raise the entry fees dramatically! WALKING THE COURSE The course will be open for walking on Saturday 19 th of July 2014 2pm 4.30pm.It will also be open for walking on the day of the event.
EVENT STARTING TIMES Will be available on K Trials closer to event Gates at HPC will be open at 6am on the day of the event RIDER WITHDRAWALS (SCRATCHING A HORSE / RIDER) The Event Secretary must be notified of all withdrawals prior to the event. Rider withdrawals made after the event closing date, will still require the entrant to attend the event to complete their helper duty. Failure to complete this helper duty will void your right to a refund. The only exception will be on presentation of a Doctors Certificate within 7 days of the event that will excuse the rider and honour the refund. Presentation of a Vet Certificate within 7 days of the event is required for all horse scratching s made after the event closing date. ALL Scratching s will incur a $15.00 Admin Fee which will be debited from the rider s entry fees that they paid. DOGS No dogs allowed (safety issue) ACCOMODATION Due to Horsemen s Pony Club being located at Whiteman Park we are sorry to be unable to offer camping facilities. Camping may be available from Plenty of good accommodation is now available throughout the Swan Valley, SEC 92961200 or Brookleigh Equestrian Estate 92960018 & many others. CANTEEN: Horsemen s famous canteen will be available Sunday 7.30am VET Please be advised that the Vet on call for this event will be namely Equine Valley Vet 92965200 - A vet will not be on course for this event. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE Qualified paramedics will be present on the day to provide medical attention if required. YARDS Yards are available for hire for this event for $10.00 per yard. NUMBERS Each Rider must provide their own approved number holder/ bibs which must be worn for the event. Horses must have a bridle or blanket number. Please note: Clear plastic sleeves and adhesive tape will not be accepted as number holders. Riders who present to gear checking using this form of number holder will not be allowed to compete. The club will have a limited number of medical armbands and bib holders available for purchase on the day if required. NO JEWELLERY Of any description may be worn, including body piercing. If this cannot be removed you will not be allowed to compete. DRESS CODE LONG SLEEVED shirts/polo-shirts/windcheaters must be worn. Coloured jodhpurs and chaps may be worn at this event and short/long riding boots. Please note the standard for riding helmets will be enforced. HAIR must be neatly restrained, long hair to be restrained in a hair net or plaited to no longer than shoulder length. This will be checked! PRIZES: Ribbons and lots of prizes! Ribbon & Prize to 3 rd place then Ribbons to 6 th place.
MEDICAL ARMBANDS As of January 2004, it is MANDATORY for all riders competing at PCAWA XC Eventing, conducted under PCAWA rules for Eventing, must wear a Medical Armband with the CORRECT details for use in the case of emergency for the XC phase. These medical armbands must in place at time of Gear Checking. Gear Checkers will be ensuring that the forms contained in the armbands contain data. Failure to have these filled out will prevent the rider from riding at this event. Medical armbands are to be located on the upper left arm of each rider. HELMETS All helmets must conform to the AU/NZ STANDARD 3838 or EN1384 or ASTN F1163 BACK PROTECTORS All competitors must wear an approved back protector for the cross country phase. No Vest No Ride! GEAR CHECK All competitors must have a gear check before each of the classes they are riding in. Note: All bandages must have 3 rows of tape and have padding. Helmets and rider numbers must be worn whilst mounted at all times FEI art. 519 4.4.2 EXAMINATION AFTER A FALL MEDICAL FITNESS If there is any doubt with regard to the fitness to compete the Ground Jury (PC Steward/Organiser) may with Medical Advice eliminate the athlete (rider) at their discretion. All athletes (rider) that have had a fall during the training, warm-up and or competition must be examined by the official medical officer before they either take part in another test, competition or leave the event site. The athlete (rider) is fully responsible for ensuring that this examination takes place and in the case of a horse fall, that the horse is examined by the official veterinarian. HELMET CAMERAS The wearing of helmet cameras and or cameras mounted upon any other part of the body will be prohibited at this event for rider and or mount. UNAUTHORISED ASSISTANCE Outside assistance is forbidden under penalty of elimination. Any intervention by a third party, whether solicited or not, with the object of facilitating the task of the rider or helping his/her horse is considered forbidden assistance. Similarly it is forbidden for a competitor to join or accept a lead from another. It is forbidden for a jump judge to call back or assist a competitor by direction to rectify an error of course. Whether or not a competitor has received forbidden assistance will be decided by the Technical Delegate and or PCAWA Steward. OBJECTIONS (PROTESTS) Protests are to be lodged with the appeals committee together with $50.00 within 30 mins of the scores being posted. The decision of the appeals committee is final and the $50.00 will be returned if the protest is upheld. PARKING Due to the size of the event parking may become limited. All vehicles must obey the directions of the parking attendants. Failure to do so may see the vehicles associated with that competitor being eliminated from the event. Portable yards at this stage will be allowed but should space become limited some competitors may not be able to deploy these yards. Notes: Riders in PCAWA classes must be financial members of PCAWA and attendance cards will be checked at registration. Riders to provide Bib Number holders, Bridle or Saddle Cloth Number holders and medical armbands HORSEMEN S PONY CLUB IS A MANURE FREE CLUB! All yards are to be left clean and manure placed in the blues bins located in the parking areas. If your horse digs, please fill in the hole before going home, all rubbish is to be placed in the bins provided. We are part of WHITEMAN PARK please consider the environment of this wonderful piece of Western Australia. Horsemen s Pony Club is an alcohol and smoke-free venue.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Neither The Horsemens Pony Club Inc, the Organising Committee of any event to which these Rules apply, nor the PCAWA accepts any liability for any accident, damage, injury, or illness to horses, owners, riders, ground, spectators or any other person or property whatsoever. RESERVATION OF RIGHT The Organisers of this event - reserve the right: 1 To cancel any class or event 2 To divide any class 3 To transfer competitors between sections of a class 4 To alter the advertised times 5 To refuse any entry, with or without stating the reason Mounts which in the opinion of the Club Coach Co-Ordinator or their nominee are considered unsafe or unsuitable can be prevented from competing at this event. Any mount, which is known to kick, should wear a red ribbon in its tail. Maximum of two horses per rider Bib numbers must be worn when riding, lunging and walking the course Long sleeved shirts to be worn. Falls of horse or rider on the cross-country result in elimination and the rider must leave the course at a walk IMPORTANT NOTES: PCAWA Riders for this event must be 8 years of age on 1 st January to 25 years to compete in any PCAWA Event.
