DAC STUDIO POLICIES Spring Production Our 22nd Annual Spring Production is tentatively scheduled for June 7th-9th, 2019. To ensure proper planning, you will receive preliminary information regarding dancer commitment and costume ordering beginning in January, including costume fees, recital fees, etc. Dancers registering after Winter Break will be allowed to participate in classes, but we are unable to guarantee participation in the 2019 Spring Production. This is due to the costume ordering process, therefore each class/situation will be different. Please verify participation with your student s instructor. Class Procedure Please have your child arrive five minutes prior to class start time dressed in the proper attire, shoes and hairstyle. Please do not be late for classes. Proper technical warm-ups are done at the beginning of class and are vital to preventing injuries. Students who are late and miss warm-up may not be allowed to take the remainder of that class. This will be determined by the instructor. Make up classes are available and encouraged. If you know you are going to miss a class, or have an unforeseen conflict, please let us know, and we can recommend additional class options for you. NO food or beverage (other than water) are allowed in any classroom at anytime. Please be respectful of the common space at the studio, and pick up after yourself. Parents, please encourage your dancer to set a good example, and keep the studio clean and comfortable for everyone using it. Inclement Weather In the event of inclement weather, we have several different procedures in place. Many of our decisions are made in accordance with the Racine Unified School District, however, if we have made changes to our plan after theirs is announced, DAC will place an outgoing message on the studio voicemail after 2:00 p.m. whenever there is a situation in question. We will also keep current information posted on WTMJ4 broadcast, as well as post it on our website and Facebook. An email and text alert will also be sent out. Schedule Changes/Class Cancellation DAC reserves the right to combine classes, change times, provide substitute instructors or replacement instructors, and cancel or combine any class with 6 or less students. There is only one instructor assigned per class. There may be times when two instructors will be assisting each other. Instructor assignments can be subject to change if in the best interest of students and instructors. These decisions will be made by the Director. Before/After Class Parent(s) acknowledge that DAC is not a baby-sitting or daycare service of any kind. When one class ends, another starts; instructors are not responsible for watching students once class has dismissed. Please advise your child to wait inside the studio lobby for their rides and to inform the desk or instructor if their ride is late. Students are not permitted to wait outside for rides. Telephone usage is available for students concerned about ride situations. Frequently Asked Questions... How do I know what class is right for my child? Depending on your child s interests, we offer many different styles of dance in all age and experience levels. For new families, the first several weeks can be a trial and error period where the dancer may take a class and decide it isn t a good fit. We will then recommend another class in either a different age, level, or style for them to try until the proper placement is made. For dancers with more experience, please feel free to ask for our professional recommendation, and if adjustments need to be made, we will make sure to do so. How do we go about registering for classes? There are a few ways you can register for our 2018-2019 dance season. You may attend one of our Registration Open Houses (dates are listed in the Register Now section of the brochure) or fill out the registration form attached to the brochure and place in the mail. Where can we purchase dance supplies? If you are looking for dancewear, shoes, tights, etc., you have a few options. DAC can place orders for all of the above, however we only carry limited stock. Orders are placed every 3-4 weeks depending on volume, more frequently at the beginning of each season. Other options include www.discountdancesupply.com, Trep-Art in Brookfield, or Dance-N-Tees in Libertyville, IL. Please ask your instructor if you have any questions. Is my dancer required to participate in the Spring Production? Participation is not mandatory, however we strongly encourage all dancers to showcase their hard work and accomplishments for the year. For students not interested in participating, they are included in classes, and learn the choreography for the Production dance but are not placed in the staging and formations. Are recreational students able to attend workshops and master classes at DAC? Yes Quite frequently, we bring in special guests who are professional dancers currently working in the industry. These dancers have come from Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and London, England. We schedule beginner, intermediate, and advanced technique classes for all dancers to participate in. Whether you take one class a week or all of the classes, everyone is invited to attend. There is an additional charge for students to take the classes, which can be paid in advanced, the day of, or charged to your DAC account. How do we find out about performance opportunities and/or The DAC Company? Auditions for DAC Company are annual, and take place in June. The Directors of DAC reserve the right to invite dancers that show potential and a specific level of dedication to dance who did not participate in the annual audition. If you or your dancer is interested in finding out more information about these opportunities, please let us know. 2018-2019 Dance Arts Center Registration Form Dancer Name Date of Birth / / Current DAC Student Yes - No Address City State Zip Parents Names Cell Phone Number Evening Contact Number Emergency Name and Number Email address Email will be used for billing and newsletter purposes only Classes you are registering for (please list day, class title) By signing this form, I release Dance Arts Center and it s employees from all claims on account of accident or injury sustained by my dancer(s) while attending any dance classes or outside performances associated with Dance Arts Center.
