In cross country, runners compete with themselves to improve their times. Placement of top runners affects team overall score at meets. Camaraderie is a big part of the culture. Conditioning and training starts in May with light after school runs 3 days/week. Running will continue through summer (4 days/week) with a dead week during the week of 4th of July. Varsity runners will train 5 days/week in the summer. Practice officially starts with a 5 days/week routine on August 1. There are two summer camps one where a large contingency goes and one for runners wishing to take it up a notch. Meets are typically on Saturdays (not all weekends) from late August into October with state meet in November for any that qualify. Our home meet is September 7 & 8 at Roswell s Garrard Landing Park. All families are needed, as this is a significant undertaking with hundreds of people involved.
