We will be having our Annual Member s Meeting in conjunction with our regular Friday night dinner on October 19. This is an important event and I hope that every member who is available will attend. In addition to hearing reports concerning the Club you will be asked to elect three members to the nine member Board of Stewarts. These three members will comprise our class of 2021 and will serve three year terms. The candidates who have been nominated are Bob Golden, Babs Erny and Julie Traylor. Candi Hough has agreed to be the candidate for the Rear Commodore position. Other Bridge members have agreed to continue to serve in the coming year. The Bridge members are elected annually by the Board of Stewarts. As I reported last month, we are looking at new options for our web site production that would also include replacing Constant Contact. We are still in the evaluation stage but I can say that the product looks promising to those of us who have seen a demonstration. As this Club year winds down, I would like to thank our Bridge. Board, and members for the support and hard work that helps make our Club a successful and fun organization. To see a complete list of all events go to: www.yachtclubhh.org/calendar/

President s Report by Mary Ann Compher Nauti Ladies Report Mary Ann Compher President Carol Lang Vice President Mary Ryan Secretary Diane Stortz Treasurer Kathe Golden Sunshine What a Great Time! Our last meeting was cancelled due to the evacuation for Hurricane Florence. We were fortunate this time. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Yacht Club of Hilton Head. Lunch will be served at 12 noon with our meeting following at 1:00 pm. Please email me if you will be attending lunch. I need your response by Tuesday, October 9th. The nominating committee has finalized the new officers for the coming year. This committee consisted of Arlene Walker, Janet Gillespie, and me. They will be voted on at this meeting and take over in November. We still need someone to step up and be the bartender coordinator. Pat Foley has been doing this job for at least ten (10) years. Many thanks to Pat for her continuing support of the club and NautiLadies. Please let me know if you are willing to help. Cheers!

The Ship s Store Hello from the Ship s Store Check out the Ship s Store by Betty Bush As for now, I have just gotten 'boat bags' in two sizes and a great quality that you simply can not be without! Also I have attractive, adjustable aprons that are suitable for men or women and have the Yacht Club's logo embroidered on them. Stop by the store. It is open every Friday evening. Y'ALL COME BACK NOW!

Sailing/ Regatta/ Boating Activities Committee Reports Jim Landis Large Sail Boats Jim Vaughn Fleet Captain Flying Scots Mike Gilroy Power Boat Events Committee Report Racing Once again dinghy racing is of the a slow start in the Fall. Our Sept race weekend was cancelled due to a combination on equipment issues and lack of enthusiasm among the rest of the fleet Our next two race weekends are in conjunction with the big boats at both the Ocean Challenge at SCYC Octobe 6 & 7 and our own Calibogue and Harbour Town Cups October 13 & 14. I hope we get a good fleet turnout for both. No decision has as yet been reached on adding a race day in October or November as not enough of the fleet has been together to get a consensus. FS boat status update Wexford: My boat 3428 and the YCHHI white Scot are still in the water at Wexford Harbor. Both need to be moved soon either to race in the SCYC race or cleaned up for other use. Wexford Harbor is still ok with us using their harbor between weekend race days as needed Club boats: Norm says the blue boat is ready to go with just a little effort. The red boat is still in need of a lot of TLC and will not likely be available this season Private boats: Henry need a new bunker board for his trailer but says it can be ready any time. Demetri is back and wants to sail! Cameron s boat is set to go and he hopes the race the OC. No one has heard yet from Marty but he was supposed to come back by the first week in October Thank you The club and the fleet wants to thank those who pitched in to help in getting the club boats and trailers ready for the hurricane threat and for fall sailing. Hap Todd bought new wheels for the white trailer and put one on before he left for Sicily.Cameron Henderson and I finished the job just before Florence but thankfully we did not need to use it. John Traylor and Mark Falkenstien both answered the call and with me and Cameron helped get boats and trailers realigned and ready on September 26. And, of course, thanks to Don, Hap and Norm for keeping up with their respective club boats, Red, White, and Blue! View from the Deck of the Harbor Town Yacht Club

Annual Club Regattas Race Week on Hilton Head Island Sponsored by Register at REGATTANETWORK.COM or visit us on the WEB at www.yachtclubhh.org Ocean Challenge Oct 6th and 7th Calibogue Cup - Oct 13th Harbour Town Cup - Oct 14th YCHHI Regatta Weekend is October 12-14. The regattas are expecting sailors and entries from big boats in spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes as well as Flying Scot and Harbour 20 racing within their class. And, all races will be just off Harbour Town and a real sight to see. We have more volunteer participants this year than ever and a line up of events that all club members are invited to join. On Friday, the 12th, is the Skipper's Meeting during our regular evening cocktail hours. Come and greet sailors. Following the races on Saturday, there will be pizza and beer at the clubhouse and a dessert treat for sailors, volunteers, and you're invited! Sunday at about 5:30 in the afternoon the awards and closing ceremonies will be held under the liberty oak in Harbour Town. Folks usually hang around and enjoy an evening of fun and frolic. You're invited. Just a reminder, races start at Noon on Saturday and at 10:00 AM on Sunday. Come to the Harbour and meet YCHHI's friendly Dock Walkers that will share the excitement with you. They will be standing by on the far end of the Harcbour Town docks.
