Turkey Shoot photos by Lisa Pauer, more on page 2 What a fantastic weekend we had for the Turkey Shoot & Last Cat Regatta! The wind was BLOWING! Sailors and their equipment were put to the test during two days of exciting racing. PRO Hank Goodman set up a great distance course both days for the recreational fleet and the multi-hull sailors. PRO Liz Keenen ran the buoy course, where the race committee thoroughly enjoyed watching some talented sailors battle it out at the start, along the course and at the finish line. 3 Election Results Elections were recently held to determine the KSC Officers and Board of Stewards for Please congratulate the following people who will be representing us next year. Commodore: Bill Hurni Vice: Mark Halstead Secretary: Sharon Hamilton Treasurer: Terry Patterson Stewards: Phil Cook Jean Marie Dolenc Bob Graves Glenn Kats Jake Kohl Roger Sulhoff Update on American Heart Association Certification Class by Susan Chamberlain medical training and upon class completion you will receive AHA certification. A number of KSC members have expressed an interest in a CPR certification class. So here is some information about what is involved in taking this 6 hour class. Heartsaver CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA s research-proven practice-whilewatching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students learning of skills. This course is for anyone with limited or no Features: Video-based course ensures consistency Instructor-led, hands-on class format reinforces skills proficiency on CPR mannequins AHA CPR instruction booklet Facemasks to fit each adult, child and infant Course cost is $65.00 per person although KSC is willing to support a portion of the cost. Class size is limited to 8 participants. Currently we are working on a plan to offer the course sometime in January, 2019, if there is adequate interest. 4 2018 Sunfish Saturdays This Summer KSC sailors, both adult and youth, came out for a series of 3 Sunfish Saturday Races. Highlights included sailors who are usually crew showing us their racing prowess, and youth sailors giving the adults a run for their money! A couple of sailors demonstrated the unique Sunfish standing sailing technique! There were many exciting starts and finishes. Good racing, as well as post-race camaraderie over food and beverages made this a fun series at KSC! Winners were: 1st Mike Neidig; 2nd Chris Fink; 3rd Rod Andrew Photo by Liz Keenen 2018 Keelboat Championships Skipper Terry Keane defended his title of Keelboat Champion for the third year in a row. This was a great comeback for Terry and his crew after being unable to complete the Turkey Shoot Regatta due to a failed shroud. [Terry withdrew from the Turkey Shoot part way through Day 1, but his finish that day was enough to hang onto 3rd place overall.] Membership Congratulations to Ulf Shiller who recently completed his provisional year requirements and has been moved to regular membership. Current membership stands at nd place went to Rick Harper and 3rd to Hank Goodman. 4

5 TOYS for Kids Please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 1st from 3:00 to 6:00, and plan to stop by the club for our Toys for Kids event. Please bring an unwrapped toy (or toys!) to donate to the local Department of Social Services for distribution to children in our area who need our help to have a wonderful joy-filled holiday.
