Shop with Scrip 2015-2016 Now that school is well under way, don t forget to Shop with Scrip! Each family is responsible for purchasing $2,400 in Scrip gift cards by the end of the school year, as part of our Shop with Scrip fundraiser program for the school. Each family should have purchased $800 in gift cards by December 13 th, which will be the last day to order before the Christmas holiday. Shop with Scrip offers several gift card options, including electronic cards and reloadable plastic cards, to several hundred retailers. If you haven t done so already, please visit www.shopwithscrip.com and register or verify your family information. Presto Pay option is the most efficient way to pay for and receive plastic gift cards. The order will be released to the school each Monday and the cards will be sorted and delivered to class rooms by the end of the school week. For check payment, the gift cards will not be released until payment is received by the school, so plan accordingly! (Again, orders are released each Monday morning.) Please make checks payable to OLPH and include the family name and SCRIP on the memo line. There is a $150 per family opt out fee, due by December, should your family choose not to participate in the Scrip program. If choosing to opt out of the Scrip fundraiser, please send a check made payable to OLPH in an envelope with your family name and SCRIP Opt Out written on the outside. For any questions about registration, orders or the Scrip website please contact Jeff Taegel via email at jefftaegel@gmail.com.

Double the Benefits of YOUR Volunteer Hours Parent volunteers play a vital role in our school and we are so very grateful! Your support helps our school day run smoothly, and is the backbone of every major fundraiser, such as the upcoming Fall Fest. But, did you know that your volunteer hours could also translate into a donation to our school? Many corporations provide Volunteer Service Grants, also known as Dollars for Doers and will contribute up to $25 per hour in appreciation of your community service. Just a few examples of the companies that offer this benefit are Aetna, Cisco, Dell, State Farm, Verizon, Visa, T. Rowe Price, Microsoft, State Farm, Time Warner, and Northrop Grumman. You can find out if your company matches volunteer hours by inquiring with your Human Resources Department or by visiting this website: www.doublethedonation.com Requesting a volunteer grant is typically a five minute process, initiated by you, the volunteer. You can do this by filling out and submitting a paper match form provided by your employer or through an electronic submission process. Our school receives thousands of dollars EVERY year from this wonderful opportunity; please take a moment to find out if your company has a Volunteer Service Grant program. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Development, Jodi Phelan at jphelan@olphschool.org or ext. 223.

Welcome From the Nurse s Office We hope you had a wonderful summer with your family, and would like to welcome you back to what promises to be an exciting and rewarding year here at OLPH. For all of our new families, we look forward to getting to know you and your child and are here to answer any health concerns you may have. For all of our families, please make sure to update us with any changes in your child s health throughout the school year. In addition, please refer to the school website to find all health related forms. Listed below are a few reminders as we want to keep your children safe and healthy while here at school. First, if you would like your child to receive any over the counter medication during the school day, you must complete and return the OTC Medication Form found on our website. Remember, this form must be signed by you as well as your child s physician. You should have already received information in the White Envelope regarding our policy this year concerning birthday celebrations. This

year, we ask that if you would like to celebrate your child s birthday in school, please purchase ice cream from the 8 th grade on Fridays during lunch. All of the ice cream has been approved and is safe for all of our students with allergies and other food concerns. We would ask that you also consider sending in non-food items like pencils and stickers. Finally, please inform your teacher, the school nurses and room parents in advance of your intention to purchase ice cream. We look forward to a healthy school year, and as always, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thanks, Nurse Sally and Nurse Karen
