Gentlemen of the BTC, November 15, 2018 Gary Foster says he's in the sunshine state for some "chillaxing", but I hear he was so distraught over the midterm elections and the shenanigans going on in Broward and Palm Beach Counties that he has ventured over to the east side of the state to straighten out that mess. He wants the experience so that he can oversee our Officer elections next month. On the lanes, scores and occurrences this week we quite interesting. BTC bowling has always been known for its competitiveness and high scoring. This Tuesday, there were 25 scratch series UNDER 500, and Larry Garetto didn't even bowl this week! Probably the most "impressive" under achieving bowler this week was John Paliga (207 average), shooting 192 pins under average. For those mathematically challenged, his series totaled 429. Go get them next week John! Another exciting occurrence was Dan Woodward picking up a 6-7-10 split. I didn't see it, but neither did he! Finally, I need to share with you the most exciting story of the night. In the 3rd game, Mardi Gras Lanes had 4 bowlers shoot games under 140 (the other was a 247), and they won by 11 pins! This happened because John Warta missed a 10 pin in the 10th frame. The best part of the story was seeing Danny Woodward IV getting in John's face after the miscue and trash talking the SH*T out of him! Classic!!!!! I felt sorry for Warta, but I couldn't stop laughing either. I worried about a serious beat down by Danny, but Dave Downey stepped in to protect Warta and avoid any serious injuries to his teammate. BTC Kids Christmas Party The Club's signature family event - The 30th BTC KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY - is scheduled for December 1, 2018 at Silver Lake Country Club from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All members and applicants are invited, but seating is limited so don't delay. BOWLING NEWS With only one game lost so far, Oak Forest Bowl continues to lead the "A" division. The "B" division has five teams within 6 points of first place. There are still seven weeks to go in the first half. The top game and series this week was by Shawn Sujka with 290 and 744. Tom Stahl shot 736 with a 269 game. And Craig O'Reilly had a 700 even series. Vince Oliva needed one more mark to make 700 shooting a 697. Tuesday was the first day that individual handicap scores counted for prizes. Dan Tomkins may have clinched first place already with a 325 (232 scratch). The USBC cards have been sent in. Membership cards should arrive in a couple weeks.
