CHAMPIONSHIP ARTICLES GOVERNING THE 2018-19 MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship PREAMBLE MotorSport New Zealand Inc. hereby declares the following Articles to be those governing Competitors in the 2018-19 MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship. These Articles are at all times to be read in conjunction with the Standing Regulations set out in Appendix Five, Schedule C (Part 1) to the National Sporting Code issued by MotorSport New Zealand Inc and in conjunction with the Supplementary Regulations issued by the Inviting Club. This Championship is held under MotorSport NZ Championship Permit No: 180528 1 INTERPRETATIONS In these Articles the definition of the terms used within this Schedule shall be referenced from the National Sporting Code, and as detailed below: The Championship means the MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship as set out in these Articles; and The Inviting Club means the MotorSport New Zealand member clubs organising events which comprise Rounds of the Championship; and MotorSport NZ means MotorSport New Zealand Inc; and National Sporting Code or NSC means the National Sporting Code issued by MotorSport NZ from time to time; and Round means an event consisting of two(2) legs, being a Gravel Hillclimb and a Sealed Hillclimb held over one(1) weekend at which the driver may score points towards the Championship. In exceptional circumstances, MotorSport NZ may permit the holding of the two(2) legs of a Round on separate weekends, and/or a Round may consist of two(2) legs on the same surface, provided the qualifying Rounds total two(2) Sealed and two(2) Gravel legs in each Island. In all cases the Final Round will consist of a mixed surface weekend; and Supplementary Regulations means so far as they are applicable to the Championship the Standing Regulations set out in Appendix Five, Schedule C to the National Sporting Code together with the Supplementary Regulations issued by the Inviting Club. 2 ELIGIBILITY 2.1 Vehicles: All vehicles competing in the MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship must comply with the following: (a) Roll Cages are mandatory. Note: Inviting Clubs may permit non-championship cars to compete without roll protection. (b) The vehicle must fully comply with Schedule A, excepting that safety harnesses are not required to comply with the specific age/validity requirement for Championships. 2018-2019 MotorSport New Zealand Hillclimb Championship Page 3

(c) (d) All vehicles may be audit scrutineered to ensure that they conform to Appendix Two, Schedule A as well as any other requirements and restrictions for the individual rounds. The same vehicle must be used for both Hillclimbs in the Round in order to be eligible for overall MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship points. Cars can be changed between Rounds. 2.1.1 Technical eligibility and safety equipment enquiry: Where any doubt may exist in understanding any regulation contained in this Portfolio it will be understood that it is the Competitors obligation to enquire as to the correct interpretation. All technical eligibility and or safety equipment enquiries shall be submitted in writing to the Championship Coordinator. 2.2 Competitors: All Drivers shall hold an M Grade Competition Licence or higher and if the Entrant is other than the Driver, an Entrants licence is required in the name of the Entrant. 3 CHAMPIONSHIP PERSONNEL: At the Championship the following person, or their MotorSport NZ approved assistant, shall have responsibilities and authorities set out: 3.1.1 Championship Coordinators: South Island Jeff Scott Phone No: 03 981 3784 Mobile Phone No: 029 200 0290 E-mail: janda316@outlook.com North Island Donna Elder Phone No: 06 877 3358 Mobile Phone No: 021 773 266 Email: elderclubsport15@gmail.com Callum McKenzie Mobile Phone No: 022 675 9454 Email: mck.callum@gmail.com The Coordinators are responsible for and authorised by MotorSport NZ to: (a) (b) Record and publish Championship points schedules; and Liaise with the Inviting Club on all matters pertaining to these articles. 4 CHAMPIONSHIP STRUCTURE 4.1 The Championship shall comprise of two(2) Qualifying Rounds in each Island followed by a Final Round in the alternate Island to the ClubSport Championship of that year. 4.2 All Rounds will comprise of two(2) Legs, being a Gravel Hillclimb and a Sealed Hillclimb, contested over one(1) weekend. Competitors may enter either of the Hillclimbs (Legs) individually, or both. 4.2.1 MotorSport NZ may, in exceptional circumstances, permit the two(2) legs of a Round of the Championship to be contested on separate weekends. 2018-2019 MotorSport New Zealand Hillclimb Championship Page 4

4.2.2 MotorSport NZ may, in exceptional circumstances, permit a Round to consist of two(2) legs on the same surface, provided the qualifying rounds total two(2) Sealed and two(2) Gravel legs in each Island. In all cases the Final Round will consist of a mixed surface weekend. 4.3 The Round can be organised by one or more Clubs. 4.4 Hillclimb Championship: Competitors may enter the following Categories: (1) NZ Gold Star Hillclimb Championship: for registered competitors contested over both Legs of any two(2) qualifying Rounds and the Final Round (total of 6 Hillclimbs). Additionally, all registered competitors are eligible for both Hillclimb Challenges. (2) NZ 2WD Hillclimb Championship: for 2WD vehicles contested over both Legs of any two(2) qualifying Rounds and the Final Round (total of 6 Hillclimbs). Additionally, all registered competitors are eligible for the NZ Gold Star Hillclimb Championship and both Hillclimb Challenges. 4.5 Hillclimb Challenge: Competitors may enter the following Categories: (1) Gravel Hillclimb Challenge: for registered vehicles contested over the Gravel Leg of any two(2) qualifying Rounds and the Final Round (total of 3 Hillclimbs), and/or (2) Sealed Hillclimb Challenge: for registered vehicles contested over the Sealed Leg of any two(2) qualifying Rounds and the Final Round (total of 3 Hillclimbs). Notes: For the avoidance of doubt: 1. All competitors registered for the NZ Gold Star Hillclimb Championship are eligible for the Gravel Hillclimb Challenge and/or Sealed Hillclimb Challenge Trophies. 2. All competitors registered for the NZ 2WD Hillclimb Championship are eligible for the NZ Gold Star Hillclimb Challenge, as well as the Gravel Hillclimb Challenge and/or Sealed Hillclimb Challenge Trophies. 3. Competitors entered in individual Hillclimb Challenges only are not eligible for the NZ Gold Star Hillclimb Championship or the NZ 2WD Hillclimb Championship. 5 CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION 5.1 All competitors, eligible in accordance with Article 2 above, entered into a Round of the championship shall be deemed to be registered for the Championship and will be awarded points. 6 ROUND ENTRY 6.1 Entry to each Round of the Championship should be made through the MotorSport Online system (https://possum.motorsport.org.nz). Any entry will not be deemed valid until payment is received. 6.2 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS Organising Club Date Round Hawkes Bay Car Club 22 September 2018 (Seal) 1 st North Island Qualifying Round Hawkes Bay Car Club 28 October 2018 (Gravel) 1 st North Island Qualifying Round South Otago Car Club 3 November 2018 (Gravel) 4 November 2018 (Seal) 1 st South Island Qualifying Round Otago Sports Car Club 17 November 2018 (Gravel) 18 November 2018 (Seal) 2 nd South Island Qualifying Round Pukekohe Car Club 10 November 2018 (Seal) 11 November 2018 (Gravel) 2 nd North Island Qualifying Round RATEC / Autosport 9 February 2019 (Seal) 10 February 2019 (Gravel) Final Round (South Island) 6.3 In competing in the Championship all registered Entrants and Drivers agree to comply with these Articles and the National Sporting Code, including its applicable Appendices and Schedules and the individual event Supplementary Regulations. 6.4 Should the final Round be oversubscribed preference of entry will be by total qualifying Hillclimb Points, awarded in accordance with Article 7.1 in descending order, with the highest scoring competitor ranked first. 6.5 Force Majeure: If due to Force Majeure, the required number of runs cannot be completed the appointed MotorSport NZ Stewards, after consultation with the Clerk of the Course have the authority to approve the reduction of the minimum requirements. 6.5.1 MotorSport NZ reserves the right to either cancel or amend any Rounds of the Championship without affecting in any way its powers to award any title. 7 POINTS 7.1 Points will be awarded on a Percentage Points System, with Points being calculated in the following manner for each competitor s fastest run: (a) (b) Identify the Winners Time by finding the fastest time. Timing will be recorded to 1/100 th of a second Calculate each competitor s points (rounded to two(2) decimal places) using the following formula; Your Points = ( Winner s Time / Your Fastest Time ) x 100. (Example: The winner s time is 200 seconds; your time is 300 seconds. The winner will score (200/200) x 100 = 100 points, while you score (200/300) x 100 = 66.67 points.) 7.1.1 Points shall be awarded in accordance with Article 7.1 above for each Leg. The total number of points accrued from both Legs shall determine the overall Round winner. 7.1.2 If a competitor starting a Hillclimb fails to achieve a time on that Hillclimb, that competitor will be awarded no points for that Leg, however shall be eligible for all points achieved from the other Leg. 2018-2019 MotorSport New Zealand Hillclimb Championship Page 6

7.2 In the event of a tie in the final results of the Championship, the Championship Coordinator will apply the following criteria: (a) (b) Should a tie occur then the best times of each affected competitor at the final Round shall be averaged with the title being awarded to the person having the best averaged time. Should a tie still exist then the Stewards shall refer the matter to MotorSport NZ who shall base its choice of title winner using other such consideration it deems appropriate or it may decide to appoint joint title winners. 8 AWARDS 8.1 The MotorSport NZ title of Gold Star Hillclimb Champion shall be awarded to the Driver gaining the highest points over the Championship. The Champion shall receive The NZ Hillclimb Championship Cup at the MotorSport NZ Annual Awards Dinner (Wellington May 2018). 8.2 The MotorSport NZ 2WD Hillclimb Champion shall be awarded to the Driver of the 2WD vehicle gaining the highest points over the Championship. The award for the 2WD Hillclimb Champion shall be presented at the final Round of the Championship. 8.3 Sealed Hillclimb: The Sealed Hillclimb Challenge Trophy shall be awarded to the Driver gaining the highest points over the Sealed Hillclimb Legs of the Championship. The award for the Sealed Hillclimb Champion shall be presented at the final Round of the Championship. 8.4 Gravel Hillclimb: The Gravel Hillclimb Challenge Trophy shall be awarded to the Driver gaining the highest points over the Gravel Hillclimb Legs of the Championship. The award for the Gravel Hillclimb Champion shall be presented at the final Round of the Championship. 8.5 Island Champion: The Island Champion trophy shall be awarded to the driver gaining the highest points in the two(2) Qualifying Rounds in the Championship held in the Island that isn t hosting the final. The 2018-19 Island Champion will be from the North Island Qualifying Rounds. 9 PENALTIES 9.1 Any penalties awarded shall be applied in accordance with the prescribed articles of NSC Part VIII-Penalties. 9.2 Competitors / Entrants have the right to lodge a Protest/s in accordance with NSC Part IX Protests. 9.3 Competitors / Entrants have the right to lodge an Appeal in accordance with NSC Part XI Appeals. 2018-2019 MotorSport New Zealand Hillclimb Championship Page 7

9.4 A penalty shall be incurred for: a false or jump start, or causing a miss-time through collision with the finish line timing equipment, or gaining an unfair advantage by and/or not following the proper course The penalty shall be the slowest competitors time on that run (including any penalties that person may have incurred) plus thirty(30) seconds. 9.5 The penalty for the use of Pace Notes is exclusion from the event. 10 GENERAL 10.1 The use of Pace Notes or similar navigation assistance is strictly prohibited and will result in a penalty. 10.2 No Driver who is entered in the 2018-19 MotorSport NZ Hillclimb Championship is permitted to be a passenger in any competing car during the event. 2018-2019 MotorSport New Zealand Hillclimb Championship Page 8
