Making the Most of the Advent Season www.scholastic.com/bf/stphilipnerischool6 It may be hard to believe, but this coming Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent season. With all the commercialization of Christmas constantly bombarding us everywhere we turn, its nice to have this breath of fresh air to remind us just what we are waiting for, just what all the preparations are for. Our Book Fair online campaign runs December 2 to December 15 so you can order some books for Christmas! For those tech-savvy folks, you can download the Scholastic Book Fair App to your phone! Our in-house Book Fair will run from December 11 to December 15. Family Night is scheduled for December 13 from 5-7 PM. Thanks to our wonderful librarian, Ms. Doreen, for organizing this wonderful event! PARISH EVENTS December 10 Breakfast with St. Nicholas Sponsored by the Boy Scouts December 15 Keep Christ in Christmas Contest Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus This Sunday's first reading comes from the Book of Isaiah and asks us to look into our hearts and ask, "Why do you let us wander, Oh Lord, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not?" This passage is a simple, yet firm reminder that we must do the waiting, but not in the way we may think is best, but in God's timing and in his plan. So, if the stress of the Christmas season has already gotten to you, fear not! It's only Advent, and that is a time to slow down, reflect on the blessings of the previous year, and prepare for the greatest gift that is to come! Congratulations to Sofia Horton for winning the November raffle drawing from our Potbelly s and Five Guys spirit nights! December 31 New Year s Eve Bash Sponsored by SPN Parish to help with the Capital Campaign Sofia won a $20 gift card to Potbelly s! Thanks to everyone for your support on our spirit nights!
