Nominations for the Student Eight-ball Pool Home Internationals will be by entry form emailed to the Tournament Director from an accredited athletic union or sports office email address. In all cases, those selected for direct picks or trials will have to pay a bond direct to UPC (i.e. this will not be invoiced via BUCS). Methods of payment are personal cheque, BACS/internet banking, over the counter in-branch, and (for a small fee) PayPal. Entry guidance notes will be dispatched in advance of the closing dates for each competition, and will also be available on the UPC website and BUCScore System itself (where applicable). Please ensure you read the guidance notes before completing the forms. Entries can only be accepted if full payment of the entry fees and accommodation (see below) is received by the closing date. Entry fees are non-refundable unless a team or player is refused entry by the Universities Pool Council for operational reasons. *If after the above stated entry deadline (Stage 1) has passed, the competition allows for more entries to be accepted, Stage 2 will be opened, the deadline for which will be 7 days after that for Stage 1. The decision to open Stage 2 will be agreed by BUCS and UPC. Those entering Stage 2 will pay the entry fee plus 20%. **There are no late entries to the Irish Intervarsities due to the shorter time between the closing date and competition commencement. APPENDIX 1 CHANGES FOR SEASON 2016-2017 BUCS-UPC NINE-BALL POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS This event is now BUCS accredited: BUCS points will be awarded as per their regulations. There will be no accomodation package offered as part of the entry free. Students will be free to source their own accommodation. Scheduling will be done such that nobody has to change venue more than once on the Friday and once on the Saturday (nobody at all will have to change venues on the Thursday or the Sunday) and where venue changes are necessary these will be coordinated so that all of those changing venue do so at the same time. We are currently working on the revised event schedule. Once this is done we will know the maximum number of teams we will be able to accommodate and how this affects entries from each institution. UPC IRISH INTERVARSITY POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS Teams are now made up of six players with five playing in a match, there will be no in match substitutions. You do not need to name six in a team, if you wish you may continue to name five players. BUCS-UPC EIGHT-BALL POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS The composite entry fee now includes accommodation on Wednesday 22nd February. This will allow an earlier Captain's briefing and tournament start time on Thursday 23rd February. When the tables are available for practice they will be set to freeplay. Usual rules about no practice during tournament play still apply. There is now NO LATE ENTRY PERIOD for this event. The entry deadline of Thursday 26th January will be strictly adhered to.

APPENDIX 4 ELIGIBILITY To participate in any of events players must meet our eligibility criteria (reproduced below) and that of British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and/or Student Sport Ireland as applicable. See www.bucs.org.uk and www.studentsport.ie for further details. Article 8 Competitions organised by the UPC 8.1 Eligibility to compete 8.1.1 Eligibility of players To be eligible to compete in any competitions organised by the UPC players must fulfil the eligibility criteria of British Universities and Colleges Sport and/or Student Sport Ireland as specified in the relevant competition regulations. 8.1.2 Proof of Eligibility Proof of student status will be required at the registration for a competition. This will normally require a student card issued by the authorities of that institution bearing the name, student number and photograph of the student. The card must also have a date of validity or expiry date. Undergraduate students who are not full-time should also provide a letter from their head of department or the university registrar detailing the number of credits they are undertaking in the current academic year. Postgraduate students require a similar letter stating that they are undertaking a programme of study no less than fifty percent of the full-time student programme in accordance with 8.1.1 above. Should the card not bear a photograph of the student photographic proof of identity shall require a legal document such as a passport or photographic driving licence. Should the card not have a validity or expiry date a letter will be required from the university registrar confirming that the person is a current internally registered student. The burden of proof shall fall on the individual to prove their eligibility to compete. Any queries on eligibility must be made to the UPC in advance. The decisions of the UPC in this case are final. Players who have been registered at an event are normally deemed to have had their eligibility confirmed by that fact. However, the UPC reserves the right to investigate any eligibility queries that are lodged after the fact and, if proof be strong, the Tournament Director shall be able to impose an interim suspension on any player whose eligibility is called into question during an event. 8.1.3 Eligibility of institutions Eligible institutions are those in membership of the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) and/or Student Sport Ireland as detailed in the relevant competition regulations.
