Bring your own knives, forks, plates, glasses, i.e. everything you need to eat and drink, Cedric will ring around to nominate salads to be prepared. Wine can be purchased, but bring your own beer. New globe now fitted and the lamp shines brightly once again. Well done Morris. Maybe a rat trap inside the shade is needed to deter future globe robbers. Guest speaker: Sharon Kavanagh co-ordinator of the Sail into Life program was introduced by SIL originator, Roger Veen. Sharon told us the program has gone from strength to strength since it started in 2005 with just 3 dinghies obtained by sponsorship and fund raising 1 P a g e
Other points Sharon made were: Sail into Life has been replaced with a new theme. Sailing for everyone to reflect that the program offers people with disabilities the same chance as anyone to enjoy the fun of sailing. There are now 7 dinghies, a rescue boat, floating pontoons and a hoist to get wheelchair bound people into and out of a dinghy. Groups now regularly taking part in sailing include, Activ Foundation, Enable South- West, Blind Society, education support schools, Leukaemia Foundation and Multiple Sclerosis Society. 150 people are involved via family members, carers and volunteers. More volunteers are needed especially during the week. Program for December shows how popular the program has become. If you are free get in touch with Sharon to volunteer your services.
