To separate the cartridge sections, first remove the OPC protective shutter by inserting a small flathead screwdriver under the end of the shutter arm and pry up. NOTE: Be careful not to lose the shutter recoil spring. Drill Hole Fig. 2 2. To push out the locking tabs, remove the locking pins by drilling a hole as indicated in Fig. 2. 3. HP 1320 Toner Cartridge Drill Hole Fig. 3 4. Repeat Steps 1-3 on the opposite side the cartridge. 5. Again, be careful not to lose the locking pins. 6. Remove the cartridge locking pins from the cartridge body by pushing them out from the drill holes. It is recommended to use a spring hook removal tool to remove the pins. Fig. 4 Fig. 5 7. After removing the locking pins from both sides of the cartridge, grab the waste bin and the toner hopper section and gently pull them apart. 2005 Oasis Imaging Products, Inc. Page 2
HP 1320 Toner Cartridge. 8. To remove the OPC from the waste hopper section of the cartridge, insert a small flathead screwdriver between the end of the OPC and the inner cartridge wall. 9. Gently pry outward until enough of the OPC axle is exposed to allow removal with a set of pliers. Fig. 6 Fig. 7 10. To remove the OPC axle and allow for replacement of the drum, twist and pull the exposed end until disengaged. 11. Remove the PCR by grabbing one of the shaft and lifting up until it disengages from the PCR clamp on the other side of the waste hopper. Fig. 8 NOTE: To prevent damage of the PCR it is recommended to wrap it in a lint free cloth for protection until it is time for reinstallation. 2005 Oasis Imaging Products, Inc. Page 3
HP 1320 Toner Cartridge 12. To remove the wiper blade, remove the two screws as indicated in Fig. 9. It is recommended to replace the wiper blade each cycle to maintain reliability. Fig. 9 Fig. 10 13. After cleaning the waste hopper and checking all the electrical contacts, reassemble the waste hopper section in reverse order. 14. Set aside until it is time to rejoin it with the toner hopper section. To prevent any damage from occurring to the exposed OPC, it is recommended to cover the assembly with a clean, lint free cloth. Fig. 11 15. In order to clean and refill the hopper with toner, remove the two screws as indicated in Fig. 11 to disengage the side cap. 2005 Oasis Imaging Products, Inc. Page 4
HP 1320 Toner Cartridge Fig. 12 NOTE: The side cap has a small alignment post that is ultrasonically welded to the hopper body. 16. To remove the side cap, insert a small flathead screwdriver and gently pry outwards. This will snap of the pin. NOTE: During reassembly of the toner hopper section, only the two screws will be needed to secure the end-cap to the hopper body. Fig. 13 17. With the end-cap removed, grab the contact end of the developer roller and lift out. 18. The developer roller drive gear, as well as the stabilizer on the other side of the cartridge, will remain in place after the removal of the developer roller. NOTE: It is possible to remove the developer roller drive gear after removing the developer roller with a pair of pliers; however the stabilizer will remain in place. 19. Remove the two screws as indicated in Fig. 14 to release the Dr. blade assembly and wipers. NOTE: To maintain optimum print quality, it is recommended to change the Dr. blade each cycle. Fig. 15 20. Clean out all of the residual toner. 21. Check all electrical contacts. 22. Refill hopper with toner. 23. Reassemble in reverse order. NOTE: After rebuilding the toner, it is necessary to install a replacement chip. 24. To remove the OEM chip, insert a small flathead screwdriver underneath it and pry up. Fig. 16 25.
