Be Sure to visit page 3 to look at sneetches a curriculum unit in 4 th grade GCT Weekly BEAK Volume 374, September 23, 2016 YUM YUM: Homemade Bread and Butter The Gold Hall at GCT High School held its annual Mixer for students on September 7 th. Students enjoyed music, food and games. Students in Shannon Pillow s Classes at GCT Intermediate School used a bread machine to make homemade bread and they made homemade butter. They enjoyed the experiment and enjoyed the result of the experiment much better! The experiment was conducted on Friday, September 16, 2016.

Students pictured below in Brittany Drope s 4 th grade classroom at GCT Intermediate worked on Sneetches. The Sneetches featured Dr. Seuss book talks on the topics of diversity, civil rights, and being unique. Students discussed the story and then created their own unique Sneetch and related them to scientist classifying of animals based on the unique qualities. Students really enjoyed this multisensory, multidisciplinary approach to the lesson. It s time for the Juniors to order Class Rings for the class of 2018. GCT Intramural Volleyball and Football are in full swing. Students are working hard participating in these activities. High School Senior FFA Student, Harper Martin, who is also an officer of FFA, made this creative cake for the New Member Banquet held on Tuesday, 9-13-16. Looks Yummy, Harper! Congratulations to GCT student, Jessica Griffin who Received Grand Champion Market Hog at the Greene County Fair. Congratulations to GCT student, Grace Thompson who received Grand Champion Gelding and Grand Champion Mare at the Greene County Fair. Thank you to Casey Rogers, GCT FFA Sponsor and Agriculture teacher for the photos and information. At the Greene County Fair, adults were nominated to show an animal for $10. If the adult did not want to do it, they had to pay $20. The money raised was put into a scholarship fund in which a scholarship will be given each year. GCT JR. High hosted the first Pep Rally of the season on Thursday, September 15, 2016 prior to hosting the Paragould Rams for football and volleyball. GCT won the football game after a rain delay 28-0. Way to go Eagles. Thank you to Gene Weeks and Sherri McNamara for the photos.

Greene County Tech School District EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT This little nugget worked super hard on this bug collection. She learned some super cool stuff. Brynlee Wells is in Mrs. Todd s 2 nd Grade Classroom at GCT Elementary. Larissa Newman has worked for the Greene County Tech School District for the past four years. Larissa teaches Social Studies and English at the Eagle Academy and serves as the sponsor of the GCT Jr. High School Dance Team. She is a 2003 graduate of Paragould High School and a 2012 graduate of Arkansas State University. Larissa has a BSE in Social Sciences from ASU. She is married to Rodney Newman and they have two daughters, Dixie who is eleven and in the sixth grade at CRA, and Bryer Grace who is three years old. Larissa has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2005. She stated that she loves working at GCT because, I love teaching at the ALE. I feel I am where God needs me and I love the GCT family. Everyone is always willing to help each other. In her spare time, Larissa enjoys reading, spending time with family and traveling.
