Kudo's to these members that took the time to serve on the Work Party for the Gun Club!! Thanks Stan!! This picture was taken by Greg Snider at the 100 yard Range. The boy was sighting in a new 22 Rifle with his dad s assistance. The boy needed a little added height to the bench, so they added a wooden block and a cushion, for increased height and added comfort. This is what a Family Membership is all about! Dad had put his Rifle down to help & teach his son. Hoo-ra Thanks to Bruce Harlow, our Fire Builder, who builds the fire in the 50 yard range to warm up the shooters in our monthly shooting events. He is also the one who burned the wood pile that was created during the Spring Cleaning work party. Bruce helps Bill Hagan out at most of the Club s events, and is a real asset as an RSO and an active member of our Club. PISTOL STEEL CHALLENGE SHOOTING EVENT These are pictures taken on February 28th during the Pistol Steel Challenge at 2 of 3 Ranges that are used for both the 22 Rifle Steel Challenge and the Pistol Steel Challenge scenarios. Unfortunately it was too late to place in the March Newsletter, so here they are for you now. Both events are having great turnouts for the shoots, if you have not seen them shoot, it is a Hoot to see them have so much fun. For the women of our Club, it is great practice at either the Defensive Pistol Shoot or the Pistol Steel Challenge event, and learn to protect yourself. Our Club member Tim Richmond, Paramedic is a EMS Supervisor for Douglas County Fire District No. 2., together with Mercy Medical Center ER Doctor Dan Hull met with both Jerry Heavrin, Secretary and Dennis Blanchard to discuss a proposed use of our Club and our NRA Training Officer, Dennis Blanchard to conduct weapon training for Tactical Medical Team members. This Medical Tactical Response Team is in the preliminary stages of development and will be Coordinated with Law Enforcement, in an effort to respond to medical emergencies that may occur and require Highly Trained Medical Teams to respond to and give life saving aid to Injured victims or Law Enforcement Personnel. Our Club supports this Life Saving operation, and will provide & coordinate our facilities as necessary for the Medical Tactical Teams. This will be scheduled during low Range usage by the Members and the Public, such as using the Combat Pistol Range for intense training purposes. While this is in the early talking stage, there is a urgent need for this service. It also interfaces with the Myrtle Creek Police Dept. Training and Qualifications that is conducted at our Ranges. We continue to receive telephone calls from people staying at Seven Feathers RV Park, who heard the gunshots and wanted to come and shoot. We also receive great complements from the people that do come and shoot, it is refreshing to hear their remarks on the beauty and the freedom conditions of the ranges, that we now take for granted as members. 4
