Start / Finish Version 2
Gosford (Start) to Woy Woy Head South down Etna Street, crossing Henry Parry Drive, then Mann St, Gosford, where Etna St becomes Racecourse Road. Follow this road all the way down to Pacific Highway (alongside Gosford Racecourse) and turn right. Cross the road and run past McDonalds. Turn left at Yallambee Ave by lights, follow to end veer right onto bike path and follow this around water s edge. Eventually exit into Collard Ave. Turn left into Brisbane Water Drive be careful of traffic and run on sidewalk where possible. Around corner go right into Penang St. Follow to top of road and enter bush track, turns into fire trail. Follow for 2 to 3km. Turn left at major firetrail crossroads. Head south on dirt track, ignore side tracks and head for water tank and radio tower above Parkes Bay. (tip: after a few km you run close to or under power line). Make sure you eventually take track leading left along side of water tank/radio tower then steps to road and rail bridge. Follow side road under train bridge then go up onto road bridge and across to Woy Woy. 11.5km - 3km road, 8.5km bush Woy Woy to Rip Bridge Turn left at Jetty (Boulevarde) and follow waterfront reserve close to water's edge past Woy Woy Bowling Club, turn right and run on grass towards Blackwall Boat Ramp. At car park, at end of grass, go right and exit car park then turn left onto Orange Grove Rd, continue along this road then veer left and follow road under Rip Bridge to get to footpath on the eastern side and cross bridge. 6km mainly grass Rip Bridge to Maitland Bay Turn right off the bridge on footpath then head up the hill, following Daley Rd around Fisherman's Bay. Take left turn, up concrete Rd which leads onto dirt track up the hill. When you reach the ridgeline turn left, the trail still ascends gradually, then right at the high point (almost a T junction, and 2 nd right if you are counting), heading East towards Ward's Hill. If you reach the Aboriginal Relics site you turned left one junction too late. Cross Ward's Hill Rd (main road - so take care) onto Maitland Bay Rd to junction of Scenic Rd. Water at rear of Information Centre. 6km mainly dirt Maitland Bay to Kincumber Take left track from car park/info centre - it's a gate in long grass (right track goes down to beach). This track runs parallel to road back thru a rainforest and eventually comes out onto road (the Scenic Rd. Run along road for a ) for a short distance (100m), Cross road and take track on left by break in crash barrier. There are a few side tracks on this section, stick to main track, drop onto bitumen Doyle St, which turns right. Instead of following the road, keep straight on over a small rough track - DON'T go right on Doyle Rd. Take the trail to the left past a large concrete pipe, and pass towards Kincumber Sewerage Works. Emerge from dirt track onto Empire Bay Drive at South Kincumber, there are some shops/ food on the other side of the road. Stay on right side of road heading north. At second roundabout, use pedestrian underpass to cross road. 7km dirt Kincumber to Erina After emerging from tunnel, turn right, and follow fence line. At end of fence turn left on dirt track heading up Kincumber Mountain (a bit of a scramble, but the initial part is on steps). Pass the info centre (toilets and water) heading north again. Follow main track winding down into Erina. Track on left takes you out of the bush and into new housing estate at Mobbs Rd. (If you come down in the wrong spot - likely too far to the left - look for Karalta Rd, follow that East, into a small bush section and over a creek, then come up into Hampton Close and then Mobbs Rd). Follow left onto Terrigal Drive, then first right Portsmouth Rd, pass the Fragrant Garden, turn left Worthing Rd then right Chetwynd Rd. Look for dirt track/rd on left to Erina Fitness Centre (if you miss this track, take next left and then left again). 7km half road - half dirt Erina to Gosford (Finish) Toilets and water at Fitness Centre. Directly opposite, cross The Entrance Rd, take Carlton Rd into Matcham Valley. After bridge turn left up Clyde Rd. Go right to the top (even thru the barrier on road close to top) and turn sharp left by a fence. Stay on the trail, with the fence on the right. At one point you will need to veer left down a steep hill. If you miss this, the trail suddenly gets very overgrown and narrow so it is difficult to got the wrong way (but not impossible!). At the next intersection take the main trail to the right (which starts descending). This is the top of Brady Gully s Road. It looks a bit rocky from the top. Follow this trail out of Rumbalara Reserve. There is about 500m of road running before you take a left turn onto Jarrett Street, back to the start/finish. 10km mainly dirt
