Instalment due date is: Third & Final Instalment 3 rd May 2018 We started the term in a rather hectic fashion with the changes in leadership in the school. And the pace has been maintained. It is a good thing that we have such dedicated professional staff working here and a very positive, supportive community to back that up. Of course the huge majority of students who come along each day ready to learn academically and socially certainly add to our collective achievements. We have had challenges and we will continue to deal with them openly and honestly, in the same vein that they are brought to our attention. We started with 2 very successful big events with the Parent BBQ and the Early Years Parent Dinner early in the term. Student Leaders were appointed and also participated in the State Leaders Day at Halogen. We are looking forward to their work on authentic student voice with their peers from other schools in the Partnership. Teaching staff have been 100% involved in the implementation of Authentic Writing strategies across the school. It is pleasing to hear of the enthusiasm for writing being clearly expressed. Teachers have also been involved in shared activities with their peers in other schools in the Partnership. This is an ongoing expectation and one we should embrace because of the opportunity to learn from others. The Police Band visited and included a message about Cyber Safety for older students in their performance. The choir has begun its program with Judy Beal coordinating that project, as they head towards the big performance. All students have experienced Harmony Day, Ride2School Day and the visit from the Japanese students in some way or other. Students in year 3, 5 and 7 have participated in a trial version of NAPLAN tests Online this term. This exercise confirms that we can manage the real thing when it happens in week 2 next term. Thanks to the front office and support staff throughout the school, from canteen to OHSC, the Urban Camp and of course the volunteers at Breakfast Club, Library and in classrooms I thank you again for your support and your advice as I have reconnected with this community. It is much appreciated. Term 2 looks to be just as busy and exciting so have a good break from the routines of school and we will see you in 2 weeks.
