JPC Cheerleading MISSION To make the sport of competitive cheerleading accessible to JPC students by providing quality cheerleading coaching within the school environment. To create an enthusiastic, positive and supportive environment where athletes can have fun learning cheerleading, make friends and improve their physical skills while they work hard to achieve their best and represent their school with pride. WHAT IS CHEERLEADING? Cheerleading is a sport in its own right, recently accepted by SportAccord, the governing body for Olympic Sports. It is extremely athletic and develops confidence through teamwork, performance and competition. Athletes learn stunting, tumbling, jump and dance skills and compete at competitions with routines incorporating all these skills. WHAT JPC CHEERLEADING HAS TO OFFER YOUR CHILD An all-inclusive, male and female sport program to encourage physical activity, team building and foster increased confidence and self-esteem. Increased fitness, strength and physical skills Quality cheerleading coaching in all aspects of competitive cheerleading Stunting, tumbling, strength and dance. Accredited and experienced coaches A culture dedicated to encouraging and fostering committed, supportive, enthusiastic and athletes Training equipment will be supplied so athletes can train safely. School representation at local and national levels.

JPC CHEERLEADING Modus Operandi: Cheerleading at JPC is open to all students at the school wanting to participate in the sport of cheerleading. Team spirit and school spirit is encouraged. Negative behaviour will not be tolerated. All athletes are encouraged to be, supportive, courageous, inclusive and committed. Coaching will be done on school premises at an agreed time and safety training equipment will be supplied. Consideration needs to be given to adequate space for training on school grounds. The JPC Cheer team will have a uniform unique to their school, in keeping with the school colours, and approved by the school. It is anticipated JPC will have one squad however where necessary and/or appropriate the squad may need to be split into more than one team to fit in with skill level and competition structure. (NB in 2018 we are looking at offering 2 teams) Teams compete in local and national competitions to represent their school. Where possible all dates and details of competition activities and expenses will be provided at the start of the calendar year. Athletes will be offered opportunities for extra workshops to help increase their skills. Athletes have the opportunity to train with other (non-scholastic) cheer squads should they desire and will be supported in their endeavours. Athletes are expected to represent their school with pride and show good spirit and sportsmanship towards each other and competing schools. Coaching staff have the authority to remove any athlete should they feel that athlete is not adhering to the culture and purpose of JPC Cheerleading.
