NOW ENTERING INTO OUR 12 TH FALL SEMESTER A TIME TO DANCE! There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven a time to mourn and a time to DANCE! Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 A Time to Dance is a Christian dance studio, founded under the Celebration Academy of the Arts, First Baptist Raytown, Raytown, Missouri. Established in 2004, our philosophies differ greatly from secular, commercial studios while maintaining the highest degree of technical dance education. A Time to Dance maintains a recreational dance program, a competitive dance program, a performance company, and a newly formed competitive cheer program. A Time to Dance is set apart by our purpose to serve and praise God through dance. Psalm 149:3 reads, Praise Him with the dance! Dance, when used appropriately, is worship. A Time to Dance teaches accurate dance technique that is at the proper maturation level of the dancer. A Time to Dance caters to the whole student spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically, in an atmosphere that glorifies God. A Time to Dance offers more affordable classes, low student to teacher ratios, and Christian instructors who have dedicated their lives to Christ and are constantly educating themselves in the fields of dance, first aid and child development. To register, please fill out a registration form. Please include a valid email address, as this is our primary form of communication. Updates will be sent out almost weekly, as well as prayer requests. If you have a prayer request, please email them to mbuck@firstbaptistraytown.com and they will be added to our prayer list. Fall fees need to paid before the first lesson. Payment can be made by cash or check, made out to ATTD. Payment can also be made by automatic withdrawal from your checking account. This needs to be set up through the A Time to Dance office and divides the total payment into 4 withdrawals, taken on September 20 th, October 20 th, November 20 th and December 20 th. Fees may be paid by credit card online at firstbaptistraytown.com/schools/cata. Students in multiple classes and multiple student families may take $15 off the second class and/or student. Families who refer a new dancer to ATTD will receive a $15 credit for their kindness! A $10 late fee will be added for payment arrangements not begun by September 30 th. ATTD offers apparel for boys, girls, even parents! Order forms are available during registration and the first few weeks of class. A Time to Dance follows the Raytown C-2 school district for weather related cancellations. Stay tuned to local television and radio for updates on the Raytown C-2 school district. Cancellations will also be emailed and posted on facebook. If a class has been cancelled due to instructor absence or illness, dancers will be notified promptly via email and facebook. Make-up classes are offered for all classes cancelled due to weather or instructor absence. The ATTD office is open Tuesdays from 9am 3pm. The office number is (816) 268-1507. MUNCHKIN MOVES Ages 2-4 Class Limit: 6 Mondays 4:30-5:15pm With our creative movement curriculum, your preschooler or kindergartener will be developing listening skills and confidence as they navigate a class on their own. Pre-dance and tumbling skills progress and will be chained together. Theme weeks are used as an added benefit to the learning process. You will be! Tumblers of all skill stages, from beginning to advanced, are invited to join this multi-level class. Beginners will cover basic rolls and tumbling transitions while those with more experience can progress on to back handsprings and on! The class may be divided by ability and may be taught by several instructors for safety and more personal instruction time. This class is a requirement for members of the competitive cheerleading squad. Tumblers will need to wear comfortable clothing each week. Shirts need to be tucked in. ACRO Ages Kindergarten & Higher Class Limit: 16 Tuesdays 5:00-5:30pm Featuring many of the skills taught in our tumbling class, Acro also incorporates more stretching, contortion work, and lifts. While boys are welcome in any class, this class is specifically designed with different teaching techniques and styles emphasized to capture the unique personalities and movement qualities of boys! Hip Hop and Musical Theater will be the two main styles covered. Besides the fact that dance is a great outlet for energy and emotion, it has been shown to improve sports performance as well. STUDIO RULES A TIME TO DANCE IS A PEANUT FREE FACILITY. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BRINGING PEANUTS INTO THE LOBBY AND CLASSROOMS. Arrive early to get a drink, go to the bathroom, talk to friends, etc. Do not run in the hallways around the dance room. There are music lessons taking place at the same time and running and loud noise is disruptive. Do not enter the classroom without an instructor present. Parents may enter a class during Parent Watch Weeks only. Please check with the semester s calendar for when these weeks are. Siblings are not allowed in the classroom without a parent present. No food, drink or gum allowed in the classroom, except water bottles. No underwear is to be worn under the tights. No jewelry is to be worn during class time. Hair needs to be worn away from the face in a ponytail, bun, etc. Class uniform, including leotard, tights & appropriate shoes, must be worn at each class. Dancers need to remain quiet and attentive during class. Disrespect for instructors or fellow dancers will result in dismissal from the class room.
