Sacred Heart School Newsletter October 21st, 2015 Dear Sacred Heart Families, We are well into spirit week and looking forward to the pep rally at 2:20 on Friday, and games at 12:00/1:30 on Sunday at Loyola. Please join us for Founders Day and Mass celebrating Homecoming at 9:00am on Sunday. All students and families are encouraged to join. We will have the first few pews on the right side of the church reserved for the football and cheerleading teams - our goal is to have everyone from both teams present at Mass. Right after Mass there will be a short gathering. Also at 10:00am on Sunday is the initial airing of Sacred Heart s radio program on WSBC 1240 AM and WCFJ 1470 AM. Last week our 3rd-8th grade students took the first practice Aspire assessments in reading and math. Next week students in the same grades will take the practice tests in science and English. Teachers will use these results to guide instruction. The reports the tests provide us are very detailed - we are able to break down which skill to focus on for each class. If you stop by the school, please take a look at our bulletin board outside the library. We are calling it the Tree of Gratitude. Each student was instructed to write and/or draw what he/she is thankful for on the leaf they were given. The tree is a colorful representation of all the blessings God has bestowed upon us. Finally, a reminder that October 30th is the last day students are allowed to wear shorts as part of the uniform. Additionally, November 13th is end of the first trimester. Not only does this mean you should continue to keep in contact with your child and his/her teacher regarding homework and grades, that also brings an end to the grace period for the uniform updates. Here is a reminder of the changes/enforcements: If you have belt loops, a solid colored belt must be worn (black, brown, navy blue) Shoes must be a solid neutral color (black, brown, tan, white, gray, navy blue) Socks must be visible and one solid color (black, white, navy blue, red) Shirts must be tucked in Have a blessed week! Ms. Kristen Fink Page 1
