We are in need of more Guardsmen to further serve our Chapter, the public, and most importantly, our patriot ancestors. We dress in American Revolutionary War Uniforms marching in holiday parades and observances, and posting of the colors at our general membership meetings. USN (Retired), Nelson Peters, Maryann Teater and Clyde Johnson. Bill has been overall Chairman of the Chapter Veterans Programs for over 6 years. This has included record keeping for Members Military service, Veterans Corps and Veterans Battalion records. He has provided oversight and time as a worker, in the Veterans without Families Program at the Baldomero Lopez Memorial Veterans Nursing Home, Inverness, Florida (Citrus County) Veterans Parade and the Veterans Fair program. He has also helped in setting up other Veterans awards such as the Wounded Warrior Coin presentations and Good Citizen awards when used to honor good works of other veterans. We also Thank him for helping us with meeting our Chapter obligation to our Veterans. Compatriot Lonnie James Johnson induction by proxy. His father, Ist Vice President Clyde Elza Johnson, proudly accepts his Oath, Rosette and SAR certificate. P a g e 6 Immediate Past President and Registrar Robert Folk presenting Genealogist John Pardee with new Liberty Medal and Supplemental Certificate. The Liberty Medal commemorates the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, reminds us of our liberty and is presented for recruiting new members to the SAR. New member recruitment: 23 At the November 8 th meeting of the Withlacoochee Chapter, Roger Owen, on behalf of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels presented SAR Past President Charles Day with a signed commissioning document from Kentucky Governor, Steven L. Beshear conferring the Rights, Privileges, and Responsibilities appertaining to a Kentucky Colonel. With the commission the Governor recognizes the recipients service and accomplishments on behalf of others. Kentucky s Colonels are ambassadors of goodwill and fellowship around the world. Other commissioned Colonels have included President Lyndon B. Johnson, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Astronaut John Glenn, and other wellknown people, Getty White, George Clooney to name a few. The presentation came as a complete surprise to Day. Day said I had no idea that members of the Chapter were working on this consideration or that it was even in the realm of possibility - what a surprise. Compatriot Charles Day also learned that both Billie Brock, President General s wife, and Lindsey Cook Brock are Kentucky Colonels.
