Due to a change in my personal circumstances I will be unable stand next year. Linda Bryant Fixtures and Umpiring Secretary - Babs Yeates / Diane Arrandale Fixtures Report The Winter League 2010 2011 and Summer 2011 went quite smoothly and the weather although a cold winter was kind to us. We did not have to rearrange many evenings. Thanks to the committee members who covered duties ensuring the fixtures were played and the netball centre was opened and closed each Wednesday evening. Umpiring Report We started the year in September with a Beginners Award Course and this was attended by 7 players starting their umpiring journey. These players are now working towards becoming League Approved next season in the SDNA league. During the winter and summer seasons we tested 6 umpires who have all successfully achieved their Beginner Awards and congratulations to; Jo Score - SDH Clare Wilds - Hornets Sarah Howton - Swans Lucy Norris - Godolphin Amy Oake - Blue Jays
Lydia Edwards - Blue Jays We have also run a C award course attended by 7 current Beginner Umpires and these are now working towards being tested next season and we hope they will all achieve C award by next summer. We are also planning to hold a Beginner award course in September for new players wanting to start umpiring and please send players details to Diane, diane.whnc@btinternet.com so we have some idea of numbers asap. Set out below is the guidelines from AENA regarding umpire qualifications and time scales Currently the recognition is as follows: After attending a beginner course you will have 2 years in which to pass the Beginner Umpire Award. The Beginner Umpiring Award will be valid for 4 years (from the date of taking the award). Umpires may reapply to take the award again after 4years if they have not progressed to the C Award. If they pass this will be valid for an additional 4 years. After this time though the award will no longer be valid and the test may not be retaken. So an umpire cannot hold the beginner award for more than 8 years. They either have to progress or give up!!! C Award. Currently this award lasts as long as the member is affiliated to EN although there are discussions as to whether re assessments after a period of time would be introduced. This is purely at the discussion stage and is totally dependent on manpower to be able to re assess all umpires. Babs Yeates / Diane Arrandale Publicity Officer - Louise Gooch This year i have been sending in our weekly match results to the Salisbury Journal and to the Sport for Salisbury Website. I'm hoping that next season I can get some photos in to the Journal to help promote our winter league. I am happy to stay on the Salisbury committee as publicity office again this year. Louise Gooch
