November 15, 2018 Dear OLL Families, Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, which means that our Grandparents and Special Guest Day is too! Our Grandparents and Special Guest Day is next Wednesday, November 21. We will begin the day with Mass together at 8:15. After Mass, Student Council officers and I will say a few words to the grandparents and guests, and then they will be invited to visit the school with their grandchildren. There will be food and refreshments in the gym. Our Student Council will be taking pictures of the grandparents/guests with their grandchildren. We will have prints made and sent home with the students on a later date. Also, the students will have the opportunity to give their grandparents a tour of the building and classrooms, meet the teachers, and visit the school Book Fair in Bernadette Hall. Grandparents Day concludes at 11:00. Our students may leave with their grandparents at this time if we have the signed permission slip. Dismissal for our remaining students will take place at 12:00. Please remember that students will need to bring lunches from home on this day because the cafeteria will be closed. I look forward to seeing all of our grandparents and special guests on Wednesday! Thank you to our PTO and volunteers for helping with this special day. Our Book Fair began this week and concludes on Grandparents Day. The Book Fair is set up in Bernadette Hall. Each homeroom was assigned a time to visit the Book Fair so the students can shop. These times have been communicated to you in the classroom teacher s newsletter. Please be careful when sending money in with your children. You may want to consider sending it in a bag or envelope with your child s name written on it. Thank you for supporting the Book Fair. The proceeds go toward the purchase of new books for classroom libraries and our main school library. For every 100 books sold, the purchaser of the 100 th, 200 th, etc. will get to cut off a chunk of my necktie. The shorter the tie gets, the more books we re selling! Also, don t forget to come to movie night on Saturday at 6:30 in the gym. The Book Fair will be open for business. The school year is going fast, and Friday, November 16 is already our mid-term for the 2 nd quarter. Parents, please be sure to log on to Jupiter this week to check your child s grades and attendance. You will receive a form to sign and return to school confirming that you have done so. If you have any concerns about your child s grades, this is a good time to contact the teacher and begin a discussion about it. Regular communication with your child s teachers is important to success in school. Congratulations to our 2 nd grade students on their First Reconciliation. The students will participate in this special sacrament on Saturday morning and will surely walk away with a clean conscience and renewed spirit. Saturday is also the day that Our Lady of Lourdes will be hosting an Archery meet in Lyons Hall. Feel free to stop by to cheer on the competition. I wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving next week! School will be closed on November 22 and 23 to celebrate our blessings with family and friends. Please follow us on Twitter @OLLIndy. We are regularly updating with new pictures of school happenings. Sincerely, Chris Kolakovich Principal Visit our website: www.ollindy.org
